I have been buying and scanning the torrents for songs from my misspent yoof. This song was one of them. Mainly coz a chick I fancied like it (Heather Leek - in case she ever reads this)

Reminds me of 1986, while I was in 5th class,(which I think is the equivalent of 7th grade in the US), in the midst of a wonderful childhood, I learned this song with the rest of the class for a Ms.Anne Toher, a fabulous teacher who really knew kids who's families hadn't a penny and how to get the most out of us.
Anne if you're alive still, I hope you're doing great. If you've passed on, then RIP, your death is Irish Teaching's loss.

Wow, so I had no idea this existed. I grew up with my grandparents listening to Bobby Vinton and he had a single which was called ” Please tell her I said hello “pretty much the same lyrics just swapping out him for her. I grew up with a lot of those oldies and I just listened to that song last week for the first time in years and then this shows up on my UA-cam wow 🤯. She has such a beautiful voice.

The English version was also performed by Marie Osmond. The also was a French version by Joe Dassin, and the German version sang Dana herself.

google her - she released a couple of indy albums toward the end of her life that are beautiful, albeit a bit spiritual - but still very listenable. Don't get her confused with Glen Campbell's daughter, though - a different Debbie Campbell. Also google "Simple Song of Freedom" here and Buckwheat - that's Deb singing. I miss her still. RIP.

"worldwide" ... and am I glad - that she entered - "ON_A_LAUGH")

@Tonyflan1 Hi - it was.. (It was released as a SINGLE .. in 1975 .. and nine years LATER - re-released as an "ALBUM" .. in 1984 (and was possibly "also" contained within many of her albums that came out later ... & possibly even on the 2007 ALBUM..?)
It's like a mini movie for the imagination. Great song. I like Dana's version. Wish that Debbie Campbell's version was, also, posted.
