@darthdidious It's not like BT at all. BT is all about slowly plodding giant tanks slowly wearing down the armor of your enemy till you can get at the critical components. HGB is all about fast movement, good use of cover and a skillfully placed shot that can take out the enemy in one dramatic shot. They both scratch different itches in terms of giant robot combat. They both deserve a spot on your shelf if you love robot fighty games.
Activision made a Heavy gear game back in the mid 90's shortly after the made Mechwarrior 2. I have always enjoyed the setting and I think I might try to get my buddies to join me in picking up this game.
I used to play the computer game version of this....loved the back ground and story line and mechanical designs. Would love to play this one if I knew anyone who plays this stuff.
i love this games its the original rules were so epic this is just a more sumerised version to it and i think its great you guys realy do have something for everyone your epic
@Natakue dang to bad about the prepainted, i hardly have any time to paint anymore with different hobbies..they just like simple enough to be prepainted.
@Kenny833 Actually that PC game was based on orginal Heavy Gear miniature game from Dream Pod 9 that was released in 1994. Look it up if you don't believe me.
@theclash24 YEah I understand...I have a hard time finding time to paint these days. But to be honest they are very easy to paint. You can paint one is 30 mins and it will look great. But putting them together is a different story. Thats going to take more time.
The PC game was Activisions attempt to keep their giant robot fighting sim series alive after they lost the battletech rights. The 2 games I remember were fairly decent and WERE based of the mini game ruleset.
BTW. You Canadians really don't know what a gem DP9 is ;) Did you knew they addapted their battle system from original HG, called Silhouette, to many various pen and paper RPGs which are held in highest regard by world rankings? For instance Tribe 8 - a game by them is on 25 place of best games of all times, Jovian Chronicles is on place 35, and Heavy Gear RPG is on place 50 (of about 33 thousand titles!) It had two awesome Video Games and TV show based on it.
The models and game system sounds really cool. I have always liked the universe of battletech, and Heavy Gear sounds like another good mecha game. The problem with battletech was while the universe is very rich and awesome, the mechanics of the game are still very clunky compared to modern games. Even games-workshop games have continued to streamline and improve itself, but playing battletech was always a long chore for the action had. I kinda hope battletech gets better system too.
@theclash24 1. No they are not prepainted. 2. Yes they are!!!! They look sweet and are sweet! most Mini;s are metal a few are resin. 3. Not what you think...its hard to explane...this game does not play like 40k is different.
Looks like an amazing game, might switch to it depending on whether or not necrons lose we'll be back in their new edition codex that haqs rumors of coming around soon.
Hey Fireman Tim first off thank you for your service. Second I want to start playing this game and was wondering about the rule books. Heavy Gear Blitz: Locked & Loaded is the main rulebook right? Is there anything else Besides the minis I will need? Thanks again.
HGB is more based of macross and gundam. iv played it, pretty fun game when you first start it seems daunting but its soo much easier to learn then 40k. despite not being plastic, easy to build too. and fairly cheap i find
been playing the rpg for ten years now. and to be honest i really loved second edition silhouette (the rules system) blitz in my opinion lost something in translation.one the less a dreat setting great concept. and anyone who is interested i highly recommend it. also look into their other game lines, jovian chronicles, gear krieg, tribe 8, and core command. i've got all the second edition books for each. well worth it if you can find them
Just to clarify I love miniwargaming and I love Warhammer and can give you the benefit of the doubt , Fireman Tim, that you probably didn't mean it that way. But nonetheless it was offensive, please be more careful in the future
@Rogue2rocks i second his motion make the series guys that would be groovey i meen this looks like a cool game but i need to see how the game is plaed before i go spending loads of money on them but yeah it would be helpful if you made a series on it and not to mention FREAKING AWERSOME !!!
cool, but their are tons of good gaming systems out their, just go and look online at some of them from the UK, exspecialy 15mm the best scale for largge scale gaming may i add. defo tons of good ones out their but i am glad at least you guys are expanding the hobby out of the main steam garbage :)!

@Natakue dang to bad about the prepainted, i hardly have any time to paint anymore with different hobbies..they just like simple enough to be prepainted.
There was a show actually called "Heavy Gear". did watch it. Was awesome :)
@Kenny833 Actually that PC game was based on orginal Heavy Gear miniature game from Dream Pod 9 that was released in 1994. Look it up if you don't believe me.
lol, want something DEEPER than Battletech? Heavy Gear Blitz?! I dont think so ^^
Black mamba...didnt know Kobe Bryant fought for the south :D
@theclash24 YEah I understand...I have a hard time finding time to paint these days. But to be honest they are very easy to paint. You can paint one is 30 mins and it will look great. But putting them together is a different story. Thats going to take more time.
I dunno what it is about fireman tim, but he gets me wanting to play the games he shows.
is it macross or gundam or what
I remember the game Heavy Gear, it was really good, nostalgia bomb.
i like the way you have painted them! Excellent paint job!!
Heavy Gear has been around a bit longer then the Tau. As much as I love my 40k... the world does not revolve around GW.
The PC game was Activisions attempt to keep their giant robot fighting sim series alive after they lost the battletech rights. The 2 games I remember were fairly decent and WERE based of the mini game ruleset.
I love heavy gear man I've been trying to get models of them for years
Looks good. Probably the closest we'll ever get to a Gundam miniature war game.
heavy gear blitz is a table top versions of the heavy gear franchise made awhile ago
so. where is hitachi the samurai warrior holding the katana sword from heavy gear blitz
this game takes me back to the 90s
these models seriously remind me of Armored Core and I freakin LOVE Armored Core...
I am so playing this

Is it based off the heavy hear tv show
The tv show was based off of the tabletop.
I rember the heavy gear from years ago. The table top might be new but heavy gear is fairly old
@falco1663 I am looking at taking those heads and using them for the Tau battle suits. Or I might Green stuff something similer
12:18
he didn't mention the actual Heavy Gear show T~T lol still watched 'em all XD
-BB
H... Heavy Gear miniatures?! YEAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!
@glassdaggers Amen. Heavy Gear has been around for ages, since... '98?
The models and game system sounds really cool. I have always liked the universe of battletech, and Heavy Gear sounds like another good mecha game.

I live in Montreal.

Awesome review!
The south models look amazing.
Huzzah for the return of Fireman Tim!
@Machinehead645
Isn't warmachine more steam-punk fantasy?
A. are these prepainted? That would be awesome.
B. They look pretty badass anime style.
C. They basically have Tau rules?
where are the landships?
@theclash24
1. No they are not prepainted.
2. Yes they are!!!! They look sweet and are sweet! most Mini;s are metal a few are resin.
3. Not what you think...its hard to explane...this game does not play like 40k is different.
Is it possible to play with out the miniatures, mech games are so hard to find
That would be the roleplaying game.
the only problem i would have with this is finding other people that play it in my area
plz make more of these heavy gear vids!!
@Machinehead645 I thought Warjacks weren't really that much bigger than humans?
Looks like an amazing game, might switch to it depending on whether or not necrons lose we'll be back in their new edition codex that haqs rumors of coming around soon.

Am I the only person who still plays the original Heavy Gear without Blitz rule set?
@commandervulkan What are you talking aboot?

This game looks really cool I'm going to try and get my friends into it
wha? why is Heavy Gear not being sold at Miniwargaming anymore?!?!?!?!?
LOL. DP9 and Heavy Gear has been around for ages, and by ages I mean probably 15+ years...
Yep I think I'm gonna start a southern army.

You kinda already sole me on the combination words of Heavy+Gear+Blitz

DP9 make the best mecha minis out there. Just wish they'd put some effort in thier Jovian Chronicles mini game.
I remember playing Heavy Gear 2 as a teen.

Do a Batrep! Game looks nice, but the minis are kind of expansive :O
@YuriPRIMEpoland Nope I'm still kicking around my old Sil Gears.

Really awesome models. I'd actually would buy some just to paint up and love for looking so darn awesome.. All boys love mecha :D
This is based on the PC game Heavy gear.
i could get behind this
OMG camera guy!!! stop swaying around! I want to get a good look at the mini's but your all over the place!!!! its making me feel sick!
Some of the designs remind me of various Gundam and macross mechas.
I wonder why nobody realizes that this game is based off of the PC game that came out years ago.
they look a lot like tau battlesuits i think
I like it! :D
TIM!
if no1 yet have said these models look like Tau im gonna say it.
They look like tau.

Fireman Tim's joke about North Korea was extremely offensive.
@sirgaz I remember the cg animated series. I thought it was based on something like this. Wouldnt havethought it was the other way around :P
30 kodiacs and 40 jaguars with 10 scouts
So... we are going to see a MWG game right? :D
goondum?
Jager is the enemy of Kodiak
BattleTech should steal the modular weapons... ;)

Just to clarify I love miniwargaming and I love Warhammer and can give you the benefit of the doubt , Fireman Tim, that you probably didn't mean it that way. But nonetheless it was offensive, please be more careful in the future
