    As a Dutch/European, I am ashamed and frustrated by the fear politics of Biden and Scholz. I hear sounds around me that people are even turning away from the Americans and Germans. These sentiments will be even louder in Ukraine and many Eastern European countries. This will have negative consequences for the Americans and Germans in the future. After all, it is they who have abandoned freedom and democracy for their own fear, politics and selfishness for their own wallet.

    There's a 'nuclear' consequence to avoiding escalation. Vlad is one of the few who point this out. It's really a wash, IMO. We can't sit and let Russia continue on its present course. We need to let Ukraine defend itself and we need to give Ukraine what it needs to protect its airspace.
    Perhaps a larger point is that Putin views the west's restraint as weakness; he'll take advantage of that.

    I'd like to know the specific reason why we haven't provided Ukraine with adequate defense against Russian glide bombs, drones, etc. It seems a no-brainer to me. I've not heard a word about how doing so could potentially 'escalate' the stuation. So.....????

    • @LLlap

      Bombs glide from planes. Pkanes live on airfields in russia. West says it's ok for russia to use chinese, iranian and north korean rockets. But says it's bad if Ukraine uses the wests missiles against planes. Poland could have shot down a rocket that killed wife and 3 daughters leaving only the dad. But US told them not or there might be escalation.
      Thd west wants for russian rockets and planes to run out killing ukrainian people.

      increasingly unfounded fears over Russian escalation

    • @joeh8122
      @joeh8122 Місяць тому

      Pretty simple. The US and the west don't make enough air defense interceptors to make a difference.
      US only makes 240 pac 2 interceptors a year and only 550 Pac3 interceptors per year.
      Typically two interceptors are fired at an incoming target, if we use this equation and round up we get around 400 possible Interceptions with 800 interceptors, that's assuming a 100 percent interception rate, which is frankly impossible. At the same time Russia fired over 4000 missiles annually, that doesn't include drones. This equation will never favor Ukraine or the west. The US and the west de industrialized itself, they shipped manufacturing overseas and inflated their economy with gdp numbers that are irrelevant to production. The gdp is artificially inflated by counting things like debt, into the gdp. The west is simply not able to produce military aid in a quantity that will make a difference

    The biggest threat to the territorial integrity of Ukraine is US & UK itself. Think in a cool manner. Russia is your neighbour and not your enemy. Moreover Russia is wounded with the disintegration of USSR, yet it didn’t attack any of its former states, until 2014 when it took over Kremia, (for hundreds of reasons). Ukraine is given ample chances to settle issues, but it is UK and US, again remain adamant for its own strategic interest for a weaker Russia. So, who suffered? One can say, the Zelensky's administration is at fault in all.
    Kursk incursion carry no weigtage, when compared to a larger goal.Its not at all a victory. Russia can easily handle the Kursk incursion at its own time and in its style.

      @@theglobalgambit tug of war implies no agency on the part of Ukraine. which is one of the russian narratives.
      It implies that the West was somehow PULLING Ukraine.
      In fact as you well know the West in the person of Gerorge Bush Sr came and spoke in Ukrainian Rada as the USSR was breaking up and urged Ukraine to remain under Russia.
      All US presidents declined to let Ukraine into NATO or EU.
      Clinton, Bush Jr, Obama - all "recognized Ukraine as a key Russian interest".
      Obama urged Ukraine to do nothing and watch as Russia seized Crimea and invaded Donbass. And Ukraine did nothing.
      Biden expected Putin to conquer Ukraine in a matter of weeks and did all he could to reiterate daily that US soldier WILL NOT defend Ukraine.

    • @LLlap
      @LLlap Місяць тому

      @@theglobalgambit I wrote a lengthy reply and it seems YT just deleted it. I'll try again and maybe repost it as a separate comment.
      Tug of War hos no agent in the middle. Only 2 agents at the ends. It implies a lack of agency of Ukraine.
      Tug of War implies the West was Pulling Ukraine. When in actuality:
      1. George Bush Sr came and spoke in Rada to urge Ukraine to remain under Russia when the USSR was breaking apart.
      2. Clinton, Bush Jr, Obama - all did not let Ukraine into EU or NATO. all "recognized Ukraine as a key Russian interrest".
      3. When Russia invaded Crimea and Donbass urged Ukraine to not respond. Not respond it did. Russian annexed it's land and ZERO consequences followed.
      4. Biden made a deal with putin to let him invade Ukraine. Then spend every hour reiterating how US soldiers will not defend Ukraine. Then was shocked when Ukraine did not succumb to Russia in 3 weeks or so, as he had planned.
      So what Tug of War are you talking about?
      here's a better analogy:
      There is a Castle and the rich wealthy West sits in it and trades with the Barbarians. The Barbarians come and pillage the peasants living in front of the Castle. The Castle has arms and walls but wont let the peasants in. They watch the Barbarians destroy the peasants and wonder how much longer they have to wait to resume trade with the Babarians.

    Looking at the military side... I'm seeing Russia moving forward into Ukraine which stretches the supply lines necessary to keep the momentum valid. In Russia's case though, it's not just food, supplies, arms, ammo, and hardware, it's also troops... which are depleted at a rate that could by itself overwhelm supply lines. Mostly when Ukraine has been systematically tearing up those supply lines both physically with bombing and continually with drones. So, Russia keeps moving forward using it's horrifying bulwark idea of shooting anyone who tries to retreat. What do you have? You have depletion, no morale or valid intention and thereby you have a basically invalid military. It will be ineffectual.
    Look further and you see the ambition of putin's generals to TAKE LAND by any means necessary and the logistics is irrelevant, and you get a military force that you are depending on that has extended itself beyond supply and beyond rescue.. into the enemy's fist. This.. is what is happening. The Ukrainian army is about to surround and capture a significant number or people who've been bought... conscripted... forced, and payed, to go to the front. This is not only a logistical win, it's a propaganda tour de force.

      Who won the first Chechen-ruzzian war in the 90's? Who won the soviet-Afghan war?
      Is russia heading towards victory? Ukraine has managed to occupy more territory in Kursk in 1 month than russia in East Ukraine in 1 year.

    A bit poor performance of the interviewer. No follow up questions on Vlads more uncommon views on Russia. Also it seems like the interviewer wanted another kind of interview than he got. Not sure if there were a miscommunication before hand.
