I bought 35 acres nearby in twin lakes and built an off grid, passive+active smarthome out of insulated concrete on it.
The locals don’t care much for wealthy people gentrifying everything but otherwise its beautiful, doesn’t require many drinks to get drunk and its a slow pace of life I was ready for when I sold my tech business

The up close photo of the mountain covered in snow, is called the sleeping Indian. Look closely and you can see the head dress on the left side. The mountain is shown twice in the video.

We want to come back this Fall to ride the 3&1/2 hour train ride around the mountain. We were in Leadville in 2018 for a wedding in Vail, and we ate lunch and I ran 7 miles through the old abandoned mine town..Was really cool scenery!

Rented a house for a week there in '96 on a ski trip. The scenery is breath taking in the winter....and so is the high altitude
if you're not used to it. lol

As a child we lived on the grounds of the old Camp Hale; and because our dad worked at Climax we could get season passes to Cooper Hill (at that time) for $5. Added bonus my mom and Marge Clotworthy ran the concessions in the lodge. Walt Clotworthy was the manager of the Hayden and Escondido ranches before the eastern range bought the water rights, in exchange the buildings were to be maintained. The first time I went through there years later I was heartbroken to see what had become of the Hayden. Shame on those cities that benefited from the water for not honoring THIER contract

I lived and worked in Leadville for 17 years until 1996 when ASARCO shuttered the mine . summer are nice but I do not miss the snow and cold of winter.

I lived there for 7 years. Several top notch dispensaries. Look up "Earl's" Great dispensary.
Leadville is hands down my favorite place on Earth. I am doing everything I can to return.

Used to be a fun place to hike and rockhound. Now it's the city of no trespassing signs.

They have some mean people who go to Cooper ski hill. I was on that lift and the only other people on it were these 2 little guys. I heard them talking about terminators, steroids, and exterminators. I was trying to take pictures of the signs with animals on the poles. When I was near the top I heard them say "we better shut up before the terminator hears us". One the next trip up I heard them giggling and they said we better shut up before he lets us go and ill be back. I was so mad I was shaking. I had a 3rd run in with them I was so mad I picked the tall guy upside down by his leg and told him now tell me to let you go. I still don't understand what taking pictures has to do with terminator movies.
