My favorite part of day 2 was that the judges lost my ID after I gave them my deck box. When I informed them that my ID was missing they blamed me for misplacing it. It wasn’t until the player next to me also noticed his ID was missing that they took it seriously. Turns out they left a bunch of IDs on a table and forgot about them. Would have been screwed, but I had already realized by that point that they don’t care of me as a person
yeah the judges seemed more short tempered than i was used to, for reference i was playing in the digimon main event. i can fully understand it tho it was a long day and a long process for everything.
I paid about $600 for round trip flights and hotel just for side events to be sold out before we even had a chance to get into the building because of the massive 2-3 hour long line we had to stand in day 1, got cut off from buying things from the Bandai booth inside, then day 2, again with the massive 3 hour line for side events that when we finally managed to get to the front of the line the 3v3 (the main one we wanted to do) was already sold and they have only a few others, then got to barely participate in 1 side event and barely in a 2nd cause the guy in front of me was nice enough to give me his spot before they shutdown side events altogether. I really want them to make these things more accessible, not app based that people run scripts and bot programs to ensure they get in, there are people who have to work and can't look at the app when the event goes live, just for it to be sold out in 2 minutes. I like you, also want them to care more. The game is great and the community has been great and fun and friendly, with a few exceptions of course. When people pay for flights and boarding, spend vacation time to come to these events and for them to just be ran fucking awfully just saddens me.

This was my wife and i’s first ever major One Piece event together, and I was so happy playing games with her teaching and training together in our home in the weeks prior to Bandai Card Fest. We both have never ever competed in any tcg, so we were both excited and extremely nervous, but that was all good adrenaline highs to look forward to….then the event came…my god, I’ll tell you one thing, the ONLY positive I can see from this event is, if you can stay married after this, you found the ONE! Or your boys/group are tight…..LINEUPS everywhere….grueling….my wife was 4-4 amazingly, but we had to end her run bc we just weren’t cut out for this that day so we had to drop since we didn’t eat anything and didn’t get much sleep on the night prior. Just praying Bandai at least addresses this bc it could’ve really turned away new players like ourselves from attending future events!
Was also at the event as a spectator , it’s good to hear somebody as big as you voice their frustration. Waited in line for about three hours just to not get in as well and the side events took about two hours to fire this event was horrible to be honest 😭
Took my second loss in round 10 and missed top cut by something like 1% opponent match win difference compared to 64th. Even if I still wouldn't have made it, it just felt terrible to be denied the chance to play for the top spot for reasons that were out of my control as a player. Was honestly the most disappointing aspect of the entire weekend for me, and might keep me out of organized play until they make some serious changes
It’s actually pretty nuts too that we went so late and they never gave us time to drink or get food. Everything closed inside at about 7 and they were kicking none players out. So the only way some people were getting food was to Uber it. Run down stairs to the door and grab it. Then Hope the next round didn’t start yet. I felt so bad my 10th round opponent had to leave mid game so she could get some water because she was about to pass out.
Core Tcg normally runs most California events and run them to great success. Hearing from some of them. For most things they were given extremely vague directions if any and were to standby and assist a crew of people who were obviously overwhelmed and inexperienced at running a bigger event
I agree the staff were all power tripping hard. I told one of them to their face too lol. Glad you brought that up, I wasn't sure if my group were the only ones facing that bs literally all weekend.
Went as a spectator, I had fun but it was definitely disorganized. If you did the scavenger hunt you had to wait 30 min - 1 hr minimum in line to get the completion stamp, and staff would cut lines off because the sheer volume of people gathering was causing a fire hazard. Staff barely knew where lines started or ended. Retail booth line was pretty much the same. They were selling op05 boxes at $108 for a minute before they realized they were going to run out immediately, so they imposed 5 pack limit OR 1 starter deck, plus figurines. 1 hr + line for 5 packs! It would have been great to have some of the feature matches play on the stage projector so we had something to do while waiting in line. No singles vendors was a huge miss for me too. Side events were filled before I got in the building day 1. Day 2 I was in the line for side events for over 3 hours and the system booted me out of my event. I had to get shoehorned into a smaller event which I at least was able to play. If the ticket to get in the event cost $50 I doubt we would have gotten so many people and so many no shows for the main event (I heard there were ~800 no shows). I want as many people as possible to enjoy the event, but it needs to be a manageable number. Otherwise I'm happy with the promos I got, all the booths were cool, the mini concert was cool, and I got to try out the Union Arena game which was actually pretty fun.
i feel that a nationals should be limited to only those residing in the country. The fact that other players played annoyed me. Also 500+ no shows and no last chance entries when they couldve easily sent out a app message to those there to come between like 7-8 pm to enter wouldve been easy. Poorly run event in general. Problems we've know about all year. They need to step their game up seriously asap for events.

The event was crazy, I didn’t get to experience the second day but from all the bright lights and playing for hours consecutively non stop, no chances for eating, constant repairs, the website having ridiculous load times, day 1 was an event to remember
Sorry to hear you had such a rough experience, especially with the frustration of having to deal with staff that is disorganized and seemingly uninformed. Personally, I had a great time despite the absurd hours-worth of delays, re-pairs, and general incompetence of the showrunners. I'm happy I managed to get into Top 256, but I'm sure I would've felt much differently if I was depending on R11 (which they assured us multiple times WOULD happen).

Event was a mess, but a lot of the time based stuff came as a result of the the massive delay at the start of the day. The event HAD to get everyone out into their cars by midnight because la convention center shuts the parking lot at 12, so I think a lot of policies were put into place to try and make that deadline. That being said, it’s mind boggling that none of the organizers thought to test how to give out byes beforehand. It’s common knowledge at this point that bcp malfunctions in regular circumstances, so why would you think it would go smoothly in a more complicated scenario.
Friend of mine still arrived before 9, not only did he not get his participation pack which they refused to issue him once he noticed, somehow he wasn't in the tournament judge claimed he was late despite the round being delayed like 2 hours
For those of us who got the 2 round byes, it definitely made it feel like more of a disadvantage. I myself like most was playing sakazuki. Easily one of, if not, the deck that requires the most brain power use in the game. I was mentally EXHAUSTED by the time I had to start. Didn't help that right off the bat I had to play another invite player as the first opponent. Even though I won, it felt like an uphill battle right then and there. After that 2nd repair in round 5 I think it was, I went from a good hand a favored matchup, into a bad matchup and horrible hand (even with mulligan). By the end of it all, my head was pounding it hurt so bad. Love the game, but this tournament was just unacceptable.
I completely agree with what you mentioned about bandai fest. BCP worked fine for BSS and Digi but thats because they had less players, if they used RK9 it would have been much better. I ended up 8-2 as well and was looking forward to win my way into top 64. I think it's ridiculous to not be told the number of rounds for a tournament only the day of for it to be changed after. Congrats on the placing and hopefully someone at bandai/PlayTCG watches this and does better next time. Looking forward to the tournament report!
I know not a major focus of the video but I also agree that there shouldn't be a single x-1 not getting top 8. Sucks to miss out on a serial from tiebreakers.

I was a player and what I experienced at this event makes me not want to join another ever again but probably will cause I love this game. Overall hated it and hope they get their shit together in the future

Right there with you brother it wasnt just a you thing. Wouldnt let my wife in after 5 minutes past 5 for spectators and the whole ordeal just left a bad taste despite the visual appeal just didnt seem like a professional event.
It feels like every single part of the One Piece TCG is mismanaged, I swear. Tournaments, the app, the production, balancing, a lot of it is getting out of hand and I think it's coming to a head. Either we see some changes quick, or this game is dead after OP-10 imho.

Definitely fair to criticize but I would cut Bandai some slack. Bandai gave participants and spectators a bunch of free, valuable promos just for showing up. The organizers themselves outside of Bandai were pretty trash though for sure. We can probably expect them to not be there again next year.

The sleeves and gold don for one piece? Free for all. And yet all of those things hold monetary value. You must be pretty salty for not having been picked as a participant, sorry bout it

Why is it such a difference to Europe. We use a different Plattform from Raid´n Trade. We had no Problems. Only at the Begging The website took a long time to load due to the high number of players
Because non players went to scalp items and sell. XD this was a seller event and it is sad. But, was happy to hear Bandai said reprint :D. Sellers are not happy and ranting hard.
I’ve been to several events of course some run top cut some don’t. Yes the time rules have always been there but I think the TO’s don’t have to follow it.
It wasn't Bandai running the event though dude. It was Best Coast Pairing's systems and I believe it was CoreTCG that was officially running the event IIRC.

One judge was telling me to wait outside while my son (12 years old) was playing in the tournament. No class from that staff at all.
I was frustrated the my babysitter canceled last min but after hearing how bad it was by multiple ppl I'm glad she did canceled.

It wasn't Bandai running the event though dude. It was Best Coast Pairing's systems and I believe it was CoreTCG that was officially running the event IIRC.
