i guess im randomly asking but does someone know of a way to get back into an instagram account? I somehow lost my password. I love any tips you can offer me!
@Frederick Nixon Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Hey! The pause button is indeed very handy! I am also glad that you were able to do it my video! Yesterday I released a tutorial on a larger rectangular rope mat that may also be quite useful. Mark
Mark the braider I subscribed :) I enjoy and prefer your tutorial style , clearly informative instruction using the correct terminology. You're easy to follow and understand , and that's great :)

Well done!👏😊👍 I have worked through about 5 knot books and I've made the pineapple knot, the rose knot, monkey fists, Turks head, the star knot, oval mat, round mat, and many more. This is the first time I've seen the square mat made and you've mastered it beautifully! I love Marlinspike workmanship, it's useful and very attractive as wall, or table art. Thank you for posting and I hope you have more videos of other knots that you've created. I'm a sailor and I appreciate well made useful Marlinspike knots. Once again I thank you. I'd love to see this in a book! 👍😊
Hey! The thread is a 0.8 mm leather stitching thread. I am assuming it is a waxed polyester thread. It is called Slam thread. Works well, I use it for stitching various items and has not let me down so far. Mark

Your mother tongue is not English, mine either. Nevertheless, I understand your English better than many others. (-: By the way: I like your videos, they are very informative and I can also use some of them for my leather work. "Good luck for the future!" Franz from Vienna-Austria-EU.

Hey! A good question to be sure. Generally, indeed manila is quite coarse and sisal is a not so close second. Both do the job well. It also depends a ton on how the rope was manufactured. Hard laid rope will feel completely different than soft laid. For example the hemp used in this video is soft and pleasant to the touch because it is soft laid. The hemp that I use for fancywork is hard laid and much stiffer. On the other hand, you can also find softer manila. But the manila I use usually is so coarse that I have to work with it in gloves because it is prone to giving me splinters. Also some types of ropes are coarser by their nature. For example braided rope. I hope I at least gave you some info you can use, it is a wide topic to cover :). Mark
Mark explains the art of rug braiding so well.

How much rope should I need if I make a 4 pass version with no gaps? I am using 1/4 inch rope.
I'm going to make one of these for a friend of the family for Christmas. He likes all things Nautical. I know he'll use it.
👍🛳⚓➰
Nice! Would have liked to see the final weave instead of editing and suddenly showing a finished project.
Hola. Cómo estas. Quisiera aprender a hacer este de 4 por 5. Pero esta un poco complicado por el odioma. Cuántos metros de cuerda usas?
So if I want a door mat for my front Apt. Should buy I buy 30 feet, 1inch rope and that should fit my front door?
*Lindo, lindo!*
*Quantos metros de corda você usou?*

Is this mat made of single rope...if so what's the length of the rope.
Please watch at 1.75X speed. :)
Also a suggestion would be to use 4 nails at 4 corners to retain the shape as the rope goes around them
Super gaa vundi mam

Great work. ❗
Wonderful
It's a good tutorial, but one has to have a clear head doing that. No drinking any wine.
Pouvez vous me préciser si c'est une unique corde pour l'ensemble du travail. Très beau.....merci
Hey there!
Yeah, this is made using a single strand of rope.
Mark
You could have used 14 nails for the reference frame, that would be much easier to understand for beginners.
So pretty.
Parabéns muito bonito
Nice so cute
Amasing...... but If you put at the end of the square, some nails this would be easier

The 3 pass version requires about 9.2 meters of rope.

What do you find to be the best (coarse) rope for these? Manila, sisal, something else? New sub! Thanks!
