    You really gotta act like you know them and give value in the first 8-10 seconds.

    Opening with 'do you allow cold calls?' is a bad idea; quite robotic and most folk dont even know what that means

      Ya that one didn't hit well. But I do prefer the "This is a cold call" version. I did that for 2 reasons:
      1. Some people appreciate the straight-forwardness rather than beating around the bush.
      2. I didn't want to waste their or my time, so anyone who wants to reject can do so immediately, and I can move into the next call.
      Also, I could be wrong. Sharing my experiences 🙂

    One of them actually wanted to just buy the website

    For the last call: The problem I'm running into is the majority of the people in my niche are all word of mouth and most of them react exactly like that guy did. They just don't care about their site enough because they're doing fine from word of mouth. Obviously, you could let them know the potential of getting more leads/month, but if they can't handle the workload, why would they care? It's something I've been reflecting on for a while and I'm leaning into it being a niche issue, but not sure. Maybe I'm overthinking it and I just have to move on to the next prospect.
    Had a guy who I cold emailed, he asked to have a call about it, we talked and he was super hyped to get started, but he clearly stated he is built primarily off of referrals and he's booked up all the way into 2025 but he still really wanted to go ahead and get two sites made for two of his companies. Long story short, he ghosted me.
    Maybe it's just not a big enough pain point for them and I have to target a different one?

      Ya I think you're right on about this. The key word you used is they're mostly "fine" with just word of mouth. The companies that want more than "just fine" will eventually need a performing website 99% of the time. So I might check in with those somewhat interested companies every 6 months or so, but it will take some negative event for them to make a decision about a website.
      I think cold calling generally has lower conversion rates than other lead gen methods, so it's not unexpected.

      Yes, Minnesotans in general are not very confrontational.

    To be clear, this isn't how I normally find leads. This was more of an experiment for if I needed to find leads ASAP. You can see where I get a lot of my web design leads here: ua-cam.com/video/HFsp8sGpfAI/v-deo.html

    I think you should allready look at their website before the call and then point out a problem you see on there or something important that's missing it would be a really great way to spark curiosity

    who are you calling? what was the niche?

    • @RedPantherio
      @RedPantherio  3 місяці тому +2

      I was calling local contractors. Not typically my #1 target customer, but I'd guess B2B businesses are less likely to be sold over the phone on a cold call.
