Thank you for making this, Robert. It's sickening. The little 1-watt Diavlo head I got a couple years ago has more than doubled in price. Whoever is running things over at Randall is going to do serious damage to the company. Maybe they just don't give a frank anymore.
@@moonorbust7740 Seems like Randall is shooting themselves in the foot. I don't see why anyone would pay these ridiculous prices, and there doesn't seem to be much of an aftermarket.

You're recommendations have allowed me to purchase 3 amps I'm ecstatic owning, so obviously, I value your opinion highly. Thank you for another great, informative, as well as candid video. I'm probably not the person to answer this question for several reasons. The top two are, I'm old (as in here over 3/4 of a Century Old) and based on your question, we do not play the same music styles or our music interests probably are not similar. Second, I play mostly cleans, and the only pedals I own are Reverb, Delay, and Tape Echo. I don't own any overdrive or distortion pedals. I hope someone chimes in to answer your question since I cannot give you the answers you deserve. (All my Amps are Roland; Jazz Chorus JC-120 & JC-40, and a Roland Keyboard Amp, KC-990 which I also use when I play my bass. Known for clean and not at all for distortion or overdrive players.)
Goodlord, that's some price gouging! I'm so happy I've got all the gear I'll ever need.....32 guitar's and 6 tube amplifiers. Last amplifier i purchased was an EVH 5150III EL-34 50 Watt combo. It got a review from Marko Jankovic and then mailed to me for $1,000! Also got a reviewed Gibson Slash goldtop for $2,000! Thank god for people in high places....
Got a randall satan 2 days ago, Got it for what is essentially 1400$(a little more, since i dont live in America) but then i looked at reverb and they all cost above 3000$+ everywhere else. There was only one place where there was anything was a peel of the pleather on one side. But for less than half price, i Can live with that
Great video Robert. Randall has definitely priced themselves out of the range of most musicians. All of the gear has gotten more expensive. I am out of buying any new gear. I will continue to play old school, power. That I have plenty of. Again, thank you for your hard work.
I wish Randall would bring back the RG75 and RG80 combo from the 80s. The 75 had a Celestion and the 80 had the Jaguar and I loved them both but owned a 75. I remember a lot of hype in '89 when Randall first introduced a tube line. I went to my local shop, Ace Music in Santa Monica, CA where I bought my RG. I tried the tube Randall and was dissapointed because of how muddy it was compared to my RG75. At the time I remember Tesla were endorsing the tube line. I just didn't care for it. They did eventually produce some great tube amps. But I am sentimental about those RGs from the 80s. I could play my RG in my garage one day and on the stage of a club in Hollywood the next. I used that amp at more gigs than any other. Fantastic amp, built like a tank, no reliability issues at all.
I don't think Randall will be around much longer. You see their high end used heads listed for $1,600 to $2,200 on Reverb and they sit there for months and months. But then you also see their high end heads listed at reasonable prices $800 to $1,200 and some of it still sits there for months. It would be a shame if they go under. Just last week I bought a used RG1503C in really good condition for $225. It sat at a local shop for 6 months. The price went from $540 to $455 to $340 and when it hit $225 I snatched it up. It sounds soooo good paired with my Peavey XXX on a V30 loaded Peavey 212-6. Absolutely amazing metal tone.
It’s ridiculous! I bought the diablo rd series starting at 199$ for the 1 watt head which was a great deal. Randall is one of My faves up there next to the Rectifier, Vht/ Fryette pitbull / Diezel Hagen /Engl Fireball and I can’t leave out the Orange Thunderverb! It’s disgusting what they are doing and they aren’t the best amps. However. I found a Randall RT 503 and they have combos going for under 400$ Thank You Always! Great Info and Seriously cannot believe they made these so pricey! The RD 1 was 199$ and now 799$ talk about buyers remorse!
Man I was wondering this same thing about Randall? Randall used to have some great budget friendly amps and cabs but man have they lost there mind with there new prices! what ever happened to getting the 100w head 4x12 combo set up for $599 and the 2x12 combo for $499 what the hell Randall???
Companies all over are price gouging. Yes some of if it is inflation but some of it is price gouging. . Luckily for me I dont like Randall amps or cabs
Great video! I purchased a used RD45 head online during lock down. $422. It's great! But certainly not worth the nearly $1,500 price tag for a new one these days.
I saw a well used worn out Diavlo RD 45 head in a pawn shop for $900 ! Of course I know pawn shops jack prices up but it was ridiculous to see that price.
MTS became Synergy amps, and Synergy amps fixed the modules so that they are safer to swap out as well. I believe you can use the old Randall modules with it too.
Back in 2020, a few months before the chaos kicked in, Musicians Friend had a great deal of the day on a Randall Diavlo 45 head, $349! Hell a few weeks later there was a DoTD on the 1w for $199 which I took too. The 100w head isn’t all that either. Out the 3 I kept the 45 watt. The Diavlo series isn’t really what it touts but that’s fine
You can still find the old RG80-112SC combos for great prices. Got mine used from GC for $250. Honestly, it has quickly become one of my favorite amps ever. It just sounds incredible and is very versatile as well.
This is a good subject nobody else is talking about, It really doesn't make any sense for randall to increase there prices this much, there not on the same level of sales as marshall, mesa, fender etc. That is not a knock on them either they are good amps but its not like you see them being used by a lot of popular artists🤔
I swear a few years ago (3/4) I saw the Randall RX120RH and its matching 4x12 cab sold together for roughly around $600 but then now it's $1,259.99. Really regret missing out on that purchase but at the time I didn't even have that much to spend.
i've been eyeballing an RD45h head since the pre-covid days. in the past 3 years, that amp has doubled in price, and used examples did the same. now i can get a beat-to-shit one off reverb for what i could have gotten a new one for in 2020. Boy, did I fuck up.
Question I have the rd100 diavlo and matching v30 4x12 cabinet. To sell this on used market its hard to judge price because of these inflated prices. Mine is in excellent shape, never gigged, smoke free home, tubes replaced approximately 3-4 years ago what would be fair market price. Approximately 6years old
Honestly, I would look up completed listings on eBay and Reverb and see what they’ve sold for recently. That will tell you what people are actually paying for them right now and should get you in the ballpark.
Randalls, ENGLs, English Marshalls, Boogies and pretty much all popular amps are out of my league. My league being "Never pay more than $400 for any amp with tax and shipping". Randall was on my list until mid last year when RD-20s went from around $400 to a low of $550. My current list for expanding my amp collection includes 5 used tube amps that all sell for $250-$399. Shipped. It included 6 until Glenn Fricker drove up the price of old Peavey 6505s with his recent video 😆 Used B-52s, Windsors, Jet Citys, Crates, Blackhearts, Valve Kings, Blackstars, Egnaters, HKs, VHTs, Voxes, Oranges, and Bugeras are still cheap. I can get great tones out of all of them, because I am not too good for EQ pedals.
I noticed this on other amps too. I guess it's good for the people who already have one? You would think they would be cheaper cuz of plugins? That is a huge increase.
They reduced the price of RD100H to $1800 now. Seems like they knowingly boosted the price and then dropped it down once again to make it look like they are offering discount.
@@RobertWJackson It smells like one of those old trick some brands play wherein they hike the price of a low priced product very high just to make the customers believe that their product is in high demand and then settle for a price which is still higher than the original pice of a product.
Hi Robert, agreed that Randall make greats amps, but even the economic crisis in no way merits these astronomical price hikes. So as a consumer, I'm browsing in a store, I see Randall's prices, I also see Marshall & Mesa. Roughly equivalent dependent on the model. So I'm going with the latter models, & I can see many others would too. So Randall's sales decrease & stockists see this. They don't want amps gathering dust, so they scale down or stop stocking Randall amps altogether. This in turn could see Randall become victim to its new pricing policy. I'm just astounded that their financial department cannot see this. Undercut by the big hitters. Yes, parts & labour plus distribution has increased, but not to that percentage. I hate to say this, but I feel corporate greed is using the economic downturn as an excuse. It's such a shame that Randall is no longer affordable to the average consumer, & as stated, look at the competition, now at similar prices. I know where my hard earned money would go, & it's not Randall. Very sad.
I got my Randall Thrasher 120 watt head with a fitted Gator road case in 2016 for $800. Its my favorite amp and I love it. But if you have 3k to purchased amp, just go buy a Fortin Pumpkinhead.
They're in holding company hell. The holding company that owns Randall isn't willing to invest in the brand, and they're going to fold it soon, but they're boosting prices to inflate the value of stock on hand before the fold. I bought a 100w head new when they were still a grand, along with an RG412 cab when they were still $300. I went last year looking to pick up a second cab to make a full stack, thinking I could scoop another one up, and almost choked when I saw they were 800 bucks new now.
I agree. Even the RG1003H is priced at $649 nowadays. That’s a lot of money for a 100-watt solid-state head. The equivalent from another brand would cost $399 tops.
In 2018 I bought a new rd5 diavlo for $250 there $800 now. Also bought an Rg1003 and 4x12 cab for $550 new.. Now they are going for right about $1700. Sure am glad I got mine when I did or I wouldn't have. My Marshall sv20h mini plexi has went up about $400 over the price I paid in 2019. That's way less an increase than Randall
Hey Robert. Cool content. Not aware of this information you displayed here. Not in the market for a amp for the Moment. But if I am I will go for a Marshall. I'm still a baby and use pedals and combo amp. 🤣But I did get a 65 Fender Deluxe Reverb reissue. Might upgrade speaker someday. Vintage 30 or Creamback or maybe Eminence Governor. Their version of Vintage 30 I think and made in the U.S. Not sure yet. Your opinion is welcome.
I'm on disability so I'm going to be very limited on income as it is now, I don't know anything about this amp in particular and I never played one but a few years back I saw some reviews for monoprice all tube amp with a 12 inch speaker in it it was about 200 and something dollars. I decided to look at it just recently just to see if I can even get a tube amp at this point and the same amp on Amazon now is over 500.00 I just hope my little Peavey rage 128 doesn't blow up or quit working on me I run some pedals on the clean channel and I can get a pretty decent tone at living room levels.i don't know what it would sound like at band volumes, but I will say, it had to be used twice at backup gigs when my brother spilled beer into his amp and it just quit,AT TWO DIFFERENT SHOWS after supposedly being fixed. I don't really remember what it sounded like but I don't remember it sounding horrible and my that was way before I had any pedals to run through it.ive been looking at these so called budget mini amps by soldanos, bogner etc, which are we totally affordable for me until I have to add a speaker cabinet into the equation. A decent one 12 speaker cabinet plus the cost of the head puts it way over my budget which means I won't be getting one. I get some people have so much money it doesn't matter then how much this stuff costs in or just buy it just cuz they want it I wish I were in that situation but I'm not so I'll most likely never have a decent tube amp again in my life.
I understand inflation and the supply chain issues but I think A LOT of companies are actually using COVID as an excuse for ridiculous price level increases that aren't really warranted. Randall is a very good example!
I bought mine brand new on reverb a few years ago brand new for 899.00, the 100 watt head. At the new price point I’d rather go with a Mesa Dual Rectifier
Robert, good thing youre not a weatherman cause that pointing...🤣 But I agree on the pricing, I bought a RD1 for $199 brand new, well you showed the now price
I like this video.....I noticed the same change.....I love the Rg80.. combo amp... extremely loud... great.. great amp... I've bought 3....brand new for $249.... extreme buy.......but now... they are $500 new... and last year were $800.......amp is every worth $500...... but use to be $249.....and was a perfect great design..and just a steal at $249.... but I'm not happy to pay $800..... $400 would be a nice value.. for new.. comparing to other brands...
I have 5 warhead cabs, a warhead X2, and a Century 170. All of which I paid about $3000 for over the years. I can just imagin what people would be trying to get for this shit now....
That happened quite some time ago,was looking at a half stack at 599,then it was 899 now I think it’s around 1200,but it was awhile back the price increased, not recently
i bought one for 500 when they came out , i returned it cause it fed back , lol i should have kept it . iu have an opportunity to trade for a diavlo 50n with a differnt skin , are these really that good?
Yes. Sometimes, companies would underrated their own price. They would realized, the current prices out there are 2 to 3 times than Randall. If these products are cheap (like Bugera or Carvin), customers will only buy main brands (i.e, PRS, Marshall, Friedman, Bogner, Suhr, EVH, ENGL, Orange, Revv, or Soldano, etc.). Randall realized that. Then they have to increase to compete.
The Marshall JCM800 20W Head (SCH20 H) , made in UK, is around 850USD overhere in Europe - they are out of their mind at Randall, they shoot themselves out of any market
You probably couldn’t get a used one for 1,000 in the states currently it’s stupid. I bought a DSL20CR back in 2020 and it’s went up 3-400 dollars. All the UA-cam videos I watch just reinforces how bad shape the US Dollar is right now.
Yeah, I've actually noticed that Randall Amps have not been cheap even as recent as a few years ago. For the money they're asking, I'd rather get a Petrucci Model Mesa, or a good UK Marshall, or even a good USA Fender Amp.
Also another randall amp to mention is the rg1003h(solidstate head) I was wanting to buy one of these to add to my collection 3 years ago, as im a big dimebag fan. They were only 299 for the longest time, now there 789. I think randall is a cool amp company but I dont think they sell as much product as others do, I dont know what they are thinking...?
Could be a tariff on certain "luxury" goods. The Government thinks playing guitar is luxury. It's also corporate greed. They may anticipate future inflation. Whatever the case, they will lose sales.
This happened about 2 years ago it sucks , I remember trying out the 20 watt diavlo i loved it. I purchased the the 45 watt one unfortunately it was defective. Anyways wtf is going on with them who is really going to spend that money I could get a Marshall , Mesa , orange , evh. They had a market and they ruined it.
Ok I thought this was just me... I thought mayne online thought I was in Australia.... TLDR Randalls parent company is inflating the prices so y that their sales tank, to show significant enough loss to fold the company without taking too much loss. Its also inflating the used market. However, the price of a thrasher is now over 2k... So your getting into Mesa, Fortin, Revv, territory...
Robert, If ya watch Phil McKnight, you'll know that positive reviews from UA-cam creators can increase gear prices :D There's only one explanation! The saw your positive comments and HAD to increase prices to take advantage :D Just joking. Anyway, I suspect they'll lose a lot of sales over this. After all, a recession is coming right? Or why did Fender have to lay off all those folks? This business is cray alright. Rock on my dude!
The suck ass part is shit like this is driving the used market through the roof also. Im glad i own what i own and its all now worth 4 times than what i paid but i qont sell because i cant replace it at what i paid for any of it. 400 for a crate stealth 100 with a bedrock 412.. 200 for my 1 owner hrdx with cover and footswitch. Just as examples there is more. I dont want a randall or a marshall anyway
Expect to see more price increases on Chinese imports with the sanctions levied against them for their support of Russia. That's about all I can offer for that crazy increase. As for speakers, I'm not sure, but the price of lumber has also gone up like mad. Are we importing that too?
Not too long ago, the RD45 was like $700 bucks brand new on Guitar Center. I mean WTF? Is pricing yourself higher than an EVH Stealth a sound business strategy?
This kinda sux. Because I don't have much $ .. and I was hoping if I get another amp head. I would try for a second hand 100 watt solid State Randall. But. I was hoping for around $250.. not $550... Used
As if it was only Randall. Half of the brands in the music gear biz is heading for full greed those days. Honest brands have turned to vultures meanwhile. "We were selling shit for gold yesterday, lets ask for platinum tomorrow. Fans are dumb and willing." There will be a time when selling drugs is more honorable than selling gear.
My theory is that the Chinese made stuff killed the brand. It's not necesarrily that the Chinese stuff is bad. It's just many of their base customers prefer not to buy it and they can't determine which of their products are made in what country so they just assume they all are and move on to something else. There are an overabundance of great USA , UK, Italian, German, Belgian, Polish etc. amps some of which are priced below their RD series. I don't see the logic but maybe they have a plan for growth. Or more likely the brand isn't selling as well as they'd like and they've determined that they can raise prices and still keep a similar customer base. Problem is that this is a plan for long term failure which is what our pschopathic profit culture is all about these days.
From what I understand, Randall was bought out by an investment company, and the plan is to sell everything at ridiculous prices to earn back their investment, and they don’t care how long it takes. Once all of the inventory is finally depleted, they’ll close up shop on Randall for good. P
Tubes have gotten expensive because of the invasion of Ukraine and the effect on that region. A large chunk of tubes are made in Russia and Eastern Europe. I think the variance you are seeing, cheaper tube amps made by other companies, are due to Chinese tubes. One of Russia's best quality products they produce is Vacuum Tubes because they still use them for many things including military equipment, rather than evolving their infrastructure and military technology with power transistors. This problem won't go away until other places start producing tubes. I think #GeneralElectric should reopen their tube production.
@@tommilitello198 Yeah, okay... "On March 11, 2022, Russia imposed a ban on the export of some 200 goods in response to the sanctions imposed on it over the current conflict in Ukraine. We have confirmed that the ban applies to our seven brands of Russian tubes."
And that is how you loose your supporters, changed my mind about getting one, plus the way irs are coming on the amp manufacturers are doing themselves out of business.
Don't buy how difficult it is to produce a product (at least from large companies across industries). We are seeing year over year of record corporate profits. CONSUMERS AR BEING PRICE GOUGED ACROSS ALL AREAS. IT IS SICKENING. Companies like Randall are small fish...the companies that are upstream of Randall increase their prices at ridiculous levels, increasing the cost of construction. Never underestimate billionaire greed. Its time to eat the rich finally.

It's shocking! But maybe they thought that they were being underpriced back then and they are bringing them up to the status quo
That amp used to be $999.
@@RobertWJackson It smells like one of those old trick some brands play wherein they hike the price of a low priced product very high just to make the customers believe that their product is in high demand and then settle for a price which is still higher than the original pice of a product.
It depends where you look.
No, not really. Not here in the U.S.
klike the RVC same amp as the delvo just no xlr speaker out on the rvc. but they are cool littlle amps
Or a Randall Thrasher 120. $3000 is about what they cost nowadays. LOL
I have a 5 watt diavlo head. Love it. Bought it for 179 used on reverb in 2019. Look at the price of those now…
I really want an rg 80 and i have been reluctant to pull the trigger because they seem a little much for what they are
I agree. Even the RG1003H is priced at $649 nowadays. That’s a lot of money for a 100-watt solid-state head. The equivalent from another brand would cost $399 tops.
Randall has priced themselves out of the market.
Marshall just LOWERED all of their prices. SIGNIFICANTLY lowered, for that matter.
I decided to look at it just recently just to see if I can even get a tube amp at this point and the same amp on Amazon now is over 500.00
I just hope my little Peavey rage 128 doesn't blow up or quit working on me I run some pedals on the clean channel and I can get a pretty decent tone at living room levels.i don't know what it would sound like at band volumes, but I will say, it had to be used twice at backup gigs when my brother spilled beer into his amp and it just quit,AT TWO DIFFERENT SHOWS after supposedly being fixed.
Robert, good thing youre not a weatherman cause that pointing...🤣
But I agree on the pricing, I bought a RD1 for $199 brand new, well you showed the now price
It ain’t like pointing into a mirror, dude. LOL
Is paying $999 too much for a Randall RG1503-212 150W Solid State Guitar Combo? Thank you.
For a used one, yes, seeing as that’s the price of a new one these days.
Wow, that was a lot of dots…
I have 5 warhead cabs, a warhead X2, and a Century 170. All of which I paid about $3000 for over the years. I can just imagin what people would be trying to get for this shit now....
That warhead x2 is probably worth 3000 now
That happened quite some time ago,was looking at a half stack at 599,then it was 899 now I think it’s around 1200,but it was awhile back the price increased, not recently
I never claimed otherwise.
i bought one for 500 when they came out , i returned it cause it fed back , lol i should have kept it . iu have an opportunity to trade for a diavlo 50n with a differnt skin , are these really that good?
Well, we won't be seeing Randall amps much longer. Nobody's gonna pay that for those.
Maybe the ‘Pantera’ reunion had something to do with it? Dunno. I don’t know anyone else that played one.
Nah, this was all going on long before that was even announced.
@@RobertWJackson oh
What is that to your immediate right?
Huh?
It can be WHATEVER YOU WANT IT TO BE! If you want it to be a Kemper, a Kemper it is! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
I have used RD45 and RD1, as well as an RX120RH . I wonder what those are worth...
Could be a tariff on certain "luxury" goods. The Government thinks playing guitar is luxury. It's also corporate greed. They may anticipate future inflation. Whatever the case, they will lose sales.
It's like this, their gouging you deep and hard.A funeral home has skyrocketed I dare to know how it's due to the cost of living
They had a market and they ruined it.
wow Robert ive seen used marshall 2203 reisues way cheaper like 5 to 800 cheaper than the Laney
My RG1503H sells for 200€ more (at least) than when I bought it brand now. But I wouldn't sell it, it's a reliq.
Randall RH100 g2 series head any good? I have one if anyone wants it for 200 ....It works great ,,I just have 20 other amp heads
You in uk ?
@@christophermichaels4144 no im in tennessee
They want Mesa Bogie $$$$$$$.
I would get a used Diesel..
I’d love to have Diezel amp, especially a Herbert. But I don’t have $5000 laying around. LOL
I actually thought the company was defunct already. 🤷🏻♂️
I just haven’t seen anyone demo a new-one … in forever.
I don't know. I was looking at the Randall 20 watt tube amp and the price increase is just incredible....by incredible I mean a Rip Off.
Paid $799 for a brand new RD20 in November of 2020
Geezus…
same with Marshall way way cheaper in Europe my DSL20HR head 550 2 years ago now its an 800 dollar head its nuts my friend
I love Randall, but not that much. the only reason I haven't bought the 2x12 RG1503 Combo because $800 is ridiculous....300 maybe.
Robert,
If ya watch Phil McKnight, you'll know that positive reviews from UA-cam creators can increase gear prices :D There's only one explanation! The saw your positive comments and HAD to increase prices to take advantage :D Just joking. Anyway, I suspect they'll lose a lot of sales over this. After all, a recession is coming right? Or why did Fender have to lay off all those folks? This business is cray alright. Rock on my dude!
Randall must not want to sell any amplifiers. Inflation can cause crazy price increases but this is over the top imo.
I agree completely.
And now … all mfgs 5/15watt amps @ $500+ WTF
I was looking for a Randall RG150 2x12 and they are 1000$😬
LOVE Randall amps so it’s a damn shame..
i bought an RG1003 oh back when they first hit i paid 299.99 and now i see them usde for close to 700 bucks thats crazy asf ..
For the price of a new RD100 you can just about get a new Dual Rectifier
This kinda sux. Because I don't have much $ .. and I was hoping if I get another amp head. I would try for a second hand 100 watt solid State Randall. But. I was hoping for around $250.. not $550... Used
As if it was only Randall. Half of the brands in the music gear biz is heading for full greed those days. Honest brands have turned to vultures meanwhile.
"We were selling shit for gold yesterday, lets ask for platinum tomorrow. Fans are dumb and willing."
There will be a time when selling drugs is more honorable than selling gear.
I got an RD45h as an open-box deal for $250 in 2018. Now they want $1300 for the same thing?! I don't think so.
iam gonna bet because of the pantera tribute trying to cash in ..
No, Randall’s price-gouging was going on long before that was even announced.
@@RobertWJackson it was .. well I tried can't blame me for trying. 😂
Got me my used 80s Randall RG80-112 combo for $350 couldn’t ask for better definitely wouldn’t buy new.
Tubes does not justify a price hike like Randall lol
There solid state amps about doubled to,it has nothing to do with tubes at all
@@tommilitello198 Yeah, okay...
Comment !!!!!!!!
