I am so glad to see you scrape your bowls. I hated watching cooking shows where they dumped the bulk of the food into a baking dish or whatever and set the mixing bowl aside with maybe 10% of the food still in it. I'm too frugal to waste one tenth of my food 😁
Great video. Tou can always chunk your cake, pour the fruit over it, gently toss with the whipped cream and call it a trifle.

Next time you do potato salad, chop the potatoes into cubes, cover with cold water, bring to a boil, turn off the heat and cover with a lid for ten minutes, then drain and dress. There is much less mess, the potatoes will be perfectly cooked, and it uses less energy. They do not soak up too much water or become too soft to toss with the dressing. Its how we did it in the commercial kitchen I worked in.

Your issue with your Bundt cake I’m guessing, that your butter was a tad bit cold. You didn’t seem to get as much of a “cream” that a pound cake requires. Also the lack of flour. That’s it. I don’t think the lack of baking powder was an issue. I make a lemon-cream -cheese pound cake and it only has baking soda, no baking powder. If I don’t cream the butter and cream cheese enough, it can get less of a rise. I love the bakers secret spray or Pam spray for baking. Easy peasy.
Love the pot strainer thingie. I’m getting one of those.

Cooking may be an art (& you are an artist!), but baking is a science (see Alton Brown's Good Eats). You CAN follow a recipe, maybe slow down a bit when you bake if you find it difficult. It's about time. The other content creators, like R & R are perhaps seeing or realizing that Becky is a greater, more realistic inspiration for us and those other content creators took far longer to gain popularity than Becky. Now on the scene, we finally have someone who is so real, and sweet, and humble, but they may see her as competition for those who can be a little too "know-it-all". Just be aware, sweet Becky. Keep being yourself.

For baking powder versus baking soda, I used to get confused by which one I was supposed to use all the time... until I cemented the difference. Baking POWder can rise with its own POWer. Baking SOda needs something SOur to activate. There wasn't anything acidic/sour in the pound cake recipe, which is why it called for the powerful powder. Might help avoid any future mixups!

I love pound cake! If you like almond extract, pound cake is really delicious with 1 tsp of vanilla and 1 tsp of almond extract. It’s so funny that you almost forgot the milk because the first time I make a pound cake after I got married it came out terrible! My mom had me come to her house so she could make it with me. When we finished mixing the batter I said it still doesn’t look right. She asked if I added the milk and I told her the recipe doesn’t have milk. She pulled out a newer copy she wrote(where I got the recipe from) and she had forgotten to write the 1 cup of milk. I still have that original card I wrote, with the 1 cup of milk added in 😆

Something I learned from my grandmother many years ago was that with Bundt pans, if you grease the pan and the also lightly dust the pan with flour, the cake will be much less likely to stick. I thought the flour step was unnecessary and left it out once... never again. It sounds strange, but it makes such a difference, especially with denser cake batters.

Potato salad my grandmother had strict rules chop to the size you want before cooking and season the potatoes (salt maybe pepper) while in water before boiling. Makes a big difference for us in the flavor of the potatoes and they keep the texture a bit better because you can handle them less before cooling.

I enjoy watching you cook, your enthusiasm is wonderful. A small tip, When you are measuring flour don’t shake the flour to level it in your cup, it packs the flour and gives you a Inaccurate measurement (too much). Fluff the flour first with a spoon, or spoon it into your cup measure, then level it off with a knife. Keep up the entertaining, informative content. You’re a joy to watch. XO Melissa

after letting the bundt cake cool for the initial ten minutes, you can invert it over a cooling rack and then just let it sit for another ten minutes or so - the steam from the hot cake will rise up inside the inverted pan and help it release!

I actually cut them underwater in a oven sort of deep dish so that is stops the painful tear inducing gas from being in the air and means what does escape to my face is far far less potent by doing that i naturally discovered it helped dilute the remaining sharp bitter note that lingers in the raw onion and instead just had that fresh almost sauerkraut nice tang to it so dedinitely try cut it underwater i also pop whatever onion im using raw in the fridge in a ziploc for an hour at least but usually overnight since it helps calm it down a bit release less gas/juice and retain its shape a bit better which laat thing you want is raw mushy onions in your salad. Theyre better from the fridge like that so theyre crunchy as can be.

Everything looks awesome! Quick Baggie tip - I converted to silicone baggies about a year ago. I still keep a box of disposables for certain applications but for almost everything I use the silicone bags. They are really strong, seal water tight and are much easier to clean than a plastic bag (if you’re someone who washes baggies to reuse them). If you vacuum seal things there are reusable vacuum seal bags too. Big money savers!
