True
She is the producer also.
you just need to know some dance and be a show piece on screen, that's how Hindi film industry work. :-) No space for real actors. All actors did well. Gul Panang ji is a gem.
Chirag was making fun of Dalhousie and even like you can't go on holidays for next 3 months because he was going to stay. Aunty take a good revenge or may be she was going through a pain. Dadi appearance was so hilarious 😂😂
I think told that satyanarayan is mentally ill but actually she was mentally ill because her children died
Watched 'Manoranjan' and I'm still reeling from the experience. The way this short film turns an ordinary setting into a haunting narrative is sheer genius. The homemaker's transformation is both chilling and fascinating, proving that horror can exist in the most mundane of places. The subtlety of her actions and the psychological depth with which she manipulates the situation is outstanding. This is a must-watch for anyone intrigued by the darker, more intricate aspects of human behaviour. Brilliantly unsettling!

Who needs costly horror movies when we have such a masterpiece in 23 minutes. Wow.. tremendous
Ah, superb acting! That facial description while describing her kids and then the call of Satyanarayana was amazingly acted.
Alfred Hitchcock would be proud of the way each character acted in this movie. Very clever, very subtle, and hilarious in the end. This is how smart women get what they want. Pace too was perfect. We couldn't figure the title is it "Manoranjan". Love from Pakistan.
Yeah manoranjan means entertainment.

The story is based on a short story 'The open window' by H.H.Munroe (Saki).
Was it hilarious? The couple had lost their children in a train accident and that accident happened while they were playing with a ball. But they mentioned about only one deadbody which was found on the rail track.Train whistle remind them the day of mishap.Lalita was not in her sanity. She believed she was fine but her husband couldn't manage the loss,he must had lost his mind...Still they all try to live a normal life..She knows "kisi apnoko chale jane se dimagpe bhari asar padta"

Hello
Exactly
Lovely intense acting by Gul panag.she has been always good.i wonder why she is away from films.infact I saw her in the promo and pressed the play button.i knew she will never be disappointing.
VERY WELL EXECUTED & PRODUCED!! This is very similar to a famous old story by Saki H.H. Munro (Scottish Writer 1870-1916) Those who are interested in unusual tales - He has a collection of short stories worth checking out. Students of English Literature will know him well. I used to tell this particular short story to my older students at school - & they loved it, because it was spooky & yet quite clever. This Desi version was very well done!! Excellently directed, good cast selection & acting - the lead star's acting in particular. I guessed what she was up to, & wondered if that's where the story was leading - But in spite of that I was very impressed by the outcome & this version / production!! Yet another well deserved 👍to the entire team - WAY2Go!! Namaste🙏from USA!!
Yes! The Open window! I kept thinking about it while watching this
This short film gives me goosebumps...what a story man ...
There was a very similar story that I read decades ago in Reader's Digest. A lady talks about her husband and their dog who went out hunting in the marshes and never came back. And then they suddenly enter through the window and the visitor thinks of them as ghosts and runs away. And the lady makes up another story about the visitor being scared of dogs. It must be quite a coincidence if Gul Pang's story is uniquely original and not inspired by the old one. And if it is, then an acknowledgement is due.
Not the wife but the niece .... The story is "Open Window".... 🤣🤣🤣 Hilarious story...
I remember a program with the same.
Yes her name was vera as I remember short story name was the open window
"The Open Window" by H. H. Munroe...
There was a girl named Vera, I remember
Story was good but unexpectedly, some questions remain unanswered. Here's what I understood from the movie was (in sequence):
Satyanarayan works for railways and Lalita supports him financially by doing business of selling papad so that her 2 children get good education. As a family, they have been to Dalhousie once (this is known because at the end Lalita opens the suitcase and we get to see the photograph). Sometime after that, these 2 children went to play outside and died in a rail accident (this is known as Satyanarayan tells the story to Chirag).
What I assume now is that since that time Lalita has been wanting to go to Dalhousie again maybe in order to re-live the memories with her children who are not there anymore.
After the tragic incident, Lalita became mentally ill (As Majhi tells her that "Khali pet dawai nhi lete while giving her a piece of cake) and is delusional. The things she tells to Chirag about her son being NDA etc, about is the delusion part as the children are not there anymore. Her telling Chirag that she is doing papad business is also delusional because she throws papad and there's no tempo there.
Now, I don't know if it can actually be called delusion or just the obsession or admancy of getting rid of Chirag so that she can go to Dalhousie because I understand from the movie that she is keen to go to Dalhousie ( a long due plan) because of her children and she doesn't want to delay it more. So is Lalita pretending or is actually delusional is difficult to say. But she is definitely mentally disturbed. And therefore I say my questions are unanswered and yes, I am not fully convinced though the story was good.
Also, I didn't get why she said the pakodas were of pyaaz but actually they were of aloo.
Oh now I got the story completely
Now I'm confused too ...
.if anyone has answers to Shreya's questions ......please comment down in her reply box ....
She was acting in front of Chirag to get rid of him and go for the tour. She was taking medicine and is perfectly ok.
Same here...it's not clear whether she acted or was delusional
they addressed the real issue that how sometimes people become delusional after great loss but the twist is here is that its not her husband its her who is the actual victim bc according to her her husband is delusional about his mother but the real case is that she is being delusional about her kids.....but this could be her acting or strategy bc if she was actually delusional then she would never want to go to dalhousie to live her children memories bc acc to her children were doing job outside and if she was delusional about her children how could she not aware of the people who are alive like her mother in law...she did that intensionally to scare chiraag bc to make him believe its her mother in law who is dead but actually she was alive and he would leave
Even when I knew the content......by reading the comments already......it was still a treat to watch
Gul Panag has so much of potential ❤
And Mihir!! The gut who played Chirag is soo adorable and definitely deserving of more; adored him in Human as well!

Fantastic acting by Gul Panag and the climax was perfect. It was humorous. Lol. The way he saw maa ji in the bathroom lol 😭
Scary though.. but that was a moment indeed! 😁
After a gap of time, I have seen such an interesting short film, which is so brilliantly made. Kudos to Gul Panag for such a superb storyline, which will leave a great lasting effect on the viewer's minds. Every frame is captured so efficiently for which I must appreciate the dop. Director has given the story a new mileage by his directorial efficacy. There is no acting in this film. Every movement, expression, body language were so natural. Gul Panag again proved she is a genuine and dedicated actor in whatever role is offered to date.

I was completely taken aback by 'Manoranjan'. The film masterfully plays with the concept of psychological horror, using the simplicity of daily life as its backdrop. The homemaker character is crafted with such complexity and depth, making every gesture and every word from her laden with tension. It's a compelling reminder of how powerful and eerie the human mind can be. The young guest's growing discomfort adds so much to the suspense. I highly recommend it for those who love a story that makes your skin crawl with its subtlety and unexpected twists.
