1273 damage but all he did was one killing blow and destroyed 4 components.....not very helpful is it? basically all he did was swipe his lasers around like he was painting a car, yeah lots of splash damage but most of it is just widely distributed damage over unnecessary armor points over 10 different mechs. even a lrm whatcamacallit would be more useful......as they would lock onto a target and simply pound it until it goes down. then again its good for a light mech i guess......although is that really the point of a light mech to stand there and be a brawler? a rts or moba player would be asking themselves that......are u really using ur character ur role to do ur job well?thats why mechwarriors online is a joke......its a game of 12 dickheads with up to 4 mechs wrestling each other in the mud with no real strategy other than really how good of a shooter are u.
I used to say no one ever focuses down a panther, they just ignore them for the most part. Now I can expect to get focused every time I’m in one because of this video. 🤣
lol, it's kind of a weird thing for me - kinda motivated me to take out my LPL Panther (I use the 8Z for it - makes it a fun, slightly punchier, alternative to the Locust 1V), but at the same time makes me hesitant because I know people will be focusing me in it :P
I miss this version of Polar Highlands. It used to be this giant tundra with many small hills that gave a unique feature of giving cover without having any buildings. You could go brawl if you want or you could play peaking game or just snipe. Everything was possible. Somehow the new one feels much more binary in terms of engagement.
I just tried this build myself and damn I must say it really is an excellent build. Honestly the best light mech I have played. I am doing more damage with this mech that I am with assaults. Much much better than that ballistic panther build from a few months ago, that one made me sad.
Just played this build. I'm a total noob and had no points for a skill tree and still put up 500 damage and 3 kills. I love the mobility and how much damage this little guy can put out.
That first game was epic, but a painful loss dude, I haven't played in almost a year now but I enjoy watching the vids you make. Watching makes me almost want to try the game again but I don't have any friends that play MWO.
None of my friends know that this game even exist. However, you can get into a match easily. There's still plenty of players that still play this game. I just got into the game a few months ago.
That's a stupid excuse. I don't have any friends who play either, so what? You need other people liking the same thing you like in order to feel validated to like it?
It wasn't so much the drop. There was a Piranha, Nova, and especially the Annihilator, which all did basically no damage. If they had played better, it could have gone much differently.
@@mattjohnson8585 I can't blame the Annihilator player. On a huge map like Polar Highlands, Annihilators are just too slow even with a max rated engine. Considering how light the rest of his team was, the fight could have been going on for a full minute before an Annihilator could catch up, if it ever caught up at all. As the only assault, it was almost definitely focused down and destroyed early, before it could do much. It was a 1 assault, 1 heavy, 6 mediums and 4 lights vs 4 assaults, 5 heavies, 2 mediums and a light. They were outmassed by more than 300 tons - that's not really a winnable fight. Their best hope would have been to have the piranhas and the flea form a wolfpack and try to take down the enemy team one by one while the rest of the team distracted them and poked, but that's easier said than done in public games - and even if they did have the coordination for it, it would still be a very disadvantageous fight.
I play the 9r with 2x snub ppc:s and actively seek dogfights with other lights. 2-3 hits will usually be enough to finnish any light off, but not too uncommon to one shot legs of the smallest ones. After that you just harass and flank enemy hevies/assaults. Super fun.
I liked playing a similar concept on a second-line Stormcrow, with a fist full of ER mediums, but I left myself some tonnage for a close range surprise. Yeah. It's a UAC20. I'm crazy. But boom crow too fun.
I notice that whenever baradul does good in a build for a video, people start using that mech. Like with the fire starter with the rac/5 and the hellfire with the atm’s.
They used to be, yes - but the new combined queue pretty much threw that out the window (which results in some matches where your assaults get dropped in alpha and can get ambushed REAL easy, with zero recourse for them if they aren't explicitly long range - looking at you Tourmaline Desert)
Groups are always in Alpha, so if they brought assaults they’ll end up there. For some reason if it’s a 3 man it’ll fill out the last slot in Alpha with one of the other Assaults.
Quick question? do you do all your recordings on youTube live itself or do you another source then post. I'm currently doing Steam voice overs then posting. Any help would be great. I'll even mention you on my channel if you like!!! Ich bin ein Außenseiter und spreche kein gutes Deutsch lol
This is a build you can only expect to get good damage on if you're a total professional. I've tried running this build on 11 matches so far with varying tactics. Consider this a warning label. This is not close to being on the noob end of the skill spectrum
Nice matches and a nice looking build. That first match though...quite unbalanced on weight. You had, what, the one assault, a heavy, a bunch of mediums, and a lance of lights. They had one light with a competent pilot, and the weight just stacked against you from there. Hard to win against such a weight differential, even with the damage you managed to pump out. Still, made the most of it, and entertaining to watch.
I actually just had a match where the enemy had 6 assaults and we had none. We basically nascard around the enemy’s blob, picking off who ever was exposed. We beat them 6-12 I think.
His team had 2 assaults. The Marauder II in Bravo lance is easy to overlook. You might also note that the 2 assaults on Baradul's team really under performed. I'm guessing the 4 Novas in Alpha lance were a team, but only one of them got any real work done. (And a 5th Nova in Charlie lance? WTF?) Baradul's team just didn't have much in the way of significant advantages. No firepower advantage, no durability advantage, and a speed advantage too small to be a significant factor. This is one of the few times that tonnage really was a deciding factor. 4 assaults, 5 heavies, and a few mobile units for maneuver support. That's a lot of armor and guns right there.
@@qawamity Ah, 'scuse my mistake - watched on a small damaged phone screen, so sometimes it's hard to tell. Didn't catch that was the bulkier big brother variant. So perhaps that makes it worse when you consider it was extra weight and damage potential that didn't/couldn't do enough. But still, doesn't fully make up the tonnage difference. The next heaviest thing was a nova at half the weight... And that also means the 2 assaults were slow relative to the majority of the team, so having that large of a gap between 2 100 tonners and then 50 tons and below makes it easy for the fatties to get left behind and eaten...
@@jsizzlesaurusrex Worst I remember having was 8 assaults on the enemy and we had 2 or 3. Should have screenshot it. We lost, horribly. I believe one of their assault lances was a team, so...
dealing damage from 2nd line only fun while ur first line exist. while u splash damage like u did here there's only about 500-600 effective damage of ur 1200 that affects the battle results in some way. i've played similiar triple erll shadowhawk and its not a buid that benefits ur team a lot.
The meta is super weird right now. So many players are worrying about their Skill Rating and not the calls the team is making. If even one of the front liners had followed up on the calls he was making then it would have been a different match. He called out the crab very early being alone and an easy kill, no-one went in. Same with the cataphract.
Hmmm, I know it's a year old- but has anyone tried just running a Panther with a pair of L Pulses? I know taste varies; and some people prefer Mechs that can alpha- but there's so much room to play with scaling up instead of adding more individual guns. :D
Wow that Archer in the 1st game, LRM 5's with only 119 damage. Guy is probably thinking his build is awesome because they won the round. That build is as bad as the Cyclops LRM 5 build.

i kinda do focus on them. They are one of the easiest light mechs to target and you can always maul them by targeting their right ST

This is my mech. Sometimes I would use a PPC and SRMs in a build I called the Black Lion. An easy shift to medium lasers instead of srms.

My personal record for light mech damage is close to 1500 in a Flea 17. Ended up 1v3ing a Timby, Urbie and Jaegermech at the end for the win.

Joseph Wharton the real secret is to go back and explore some of his older builds.
Thank You! Great Video Again!
Jeez, that arm has as much armor as a clan assault side torso.
I'm curious @9:00 - are the lances sorted by weight or something? Is Charlie lance supposed to have heavy/assault mechs only?

I'd done something vaguely similar, though I instead used 4 ER MedLas and an MRM10 to make use of the missile hardpoint.
I usually run him with a lpls and 3 er meds/meds works well with the low beam time but I might try this
Have you thought about doing a mechwarrior three playthrough? I love the game and still have it around. It could be fun, in a retro sort of way.
Yes, I did consider and decided against it. I think it didn't age well.
Okay, cool.
I just started a replay of 3 and Pirate's Moon. Fun games but as Baradul said they did not age that well.

Shhhhh...you are not suppose to show everyone how terrific the standard large laser actually is! :P
That was almost as awesome as an urbie! (But why not use an urbie if you are running on 90kph)

Also lower arm actuators makes it easier to track your shots
