5 guys look welcoming inside with the seating .good size meal and free refills. Really good .
5 Guys for me. Loads of chips to fill up on and a variety of toppings included. Like you said "out of action for the next couple of hours" Which must mean it hit the spot! 😂

Five Guys is bloody expensive but SO good. Unlike McD or B.King I treat a 5 Guys as a ‘real’ meal as it’s so hearty and the ‘small’ portion of fries is amazing. The choice of toppings on the burger is miles better too.
That pub is rather super expensive. Who'd want to buy almost $18 for burger, fries, and drink ?. I'd probably pick Pub because I like variety of sauces ,but 5 guys give me more freedom how to build burgers, though.

Both looked great, I'm stunned at how much Five Guys charge though - for a fast-food meal £19 is absurd.
Five guys is crazy expensive
£19 and £17 😮 wow times have changed. Imagine how much it would be paying for a family. No wonder people can't afford to eat out anymore. The 5 guys looked good but I will never pay 19 for chips and burger
McD saver men triple cheeseburger + fries for under £5 but obvs not in sane class as these. Also with burger king app you can get whopper meal with large fries & large drink (refillable depending on site) for £6 which is better than MCD
The pub burger by a mile. And how nice to see them making their own sauces. Forget reviewing the big chains. It’s small local businesses like the pub that you need to support.

Five Guys makes a good, but very expensive burger. I could take you to a hundred American diners that make burgers as good, but quite a bit cheaper. Honestly, I would rather have the pub burger. It was a bit on the expensive as well but it looked like better value for your money.

Loved the branded bun on the pub burger! Both were good looking burgers. A split vote from me today. Five Guys fries looked way better to me. Plus, being American, I know Five Guys fries all too well 😂. For the burger, the pub has my vote because you really attacked it with clear enjoyment.

Head of Steam is a chain too, got 15 locations.. mainly in the North of England but have branched out to Birmingham and Cardiff too
To be fair five guys is not a diner. It does, however taste really good.

I've had five guy's twice now, and thought their burgers were on a different level, without a doubt they have mastered the perfect burger, but it's always better if possible to support local pubs etc.
Five guys burgers are probably the best fast food burgers out there

I’m not a big burger fan , I enjoy a Big Mac very occasionally and have always preferred a Burger King but again very occasionally. Recently Five Guys opened in my town so I had to try it . Wow on a completely different level to the other two the best burger and fries I have ever eaten. Expensive yes but as an occasional treat you can’t beat it .
The pub for me.
Five Guys every time for me, but something I only treat myself once in a while as it isn’t the cheapest place but it is good. always go for a milkshake over a fizzy drink though
Hi, you didn't mention the free peanuts at 5G's. Do they not do them in the UK? They're roasted peanuts in the shell available to eat at restaurants in the US.

Pub burger every time. Nearly 20 quid for a burger and chips is ridiculous. Get 2 full English breakfasts for that!

5 Guys for me , fresh hand cut chips prepared in store daily and absolutely nothing out of a freezer as everything is made fresh and loads of free toppings to choose from and all served on my favourite seeded bun.
There's also a smaller and cheaper burger with only one patty for those with less of an appetite.
The pub one didn't have much lettuce , no onion and served on a brioche bun that's not to my liking.....a definite win for 5 Guys , no contest.
LOL 😂. Do you honestly believe someone is standing there with whole potatoes and a knife to make “hand-cut” chips! The burgers arrive at the store frozen. The “free” toppings are anything but - the burger price is £3 or £4 more than it otherwise could be to pay for them, it’s just that all customers have to pay this even if they have just one topping.

If you want to review "American diners", get yourself over to the US. A lot of them are overpriced rip-offs, but George Motz's "Hamburger America" in NYC makes the single best burger you will ever taste in your life [I'll put money on that], and the price is actually reasonable.
I need to save up to visit the US, but if I go, I'll definitely try out a diner there

The pub burger definitely, but without ketchup or mustard. I’m not a crazy fan of Five Guys, but I will say in their favor you can get a smaller version of their burgers (in the USA, at least) and I love Vanilla Coke, so the soda choices are great.
You should've ordered the fries with the cajun spice. Good stuff.

Pub Burger patties looked a bit dry and I don't go to a burger joint for the side sauces in squeeze bottles. Five Guys fries were also head and shoulders above the pub. Nothing against the pub burger as it looked pretty good but Five Guys for me all the way. Also unlimited refills on the beverage. No contest.

Five Guys looks so much better - the burger is good quality meat cooked fresh, not frozen. They tell you which farm the potatoes come from. Everything is cooked well and is properly seasoned. I will take that over a frozen pub meal any day.
I'm not sure any of that pub meal was frozen (coming from someone who worked in pub kitchens for several years) ...maybe the salad 🤔😅

Just pop into five guys for a try if you sit in you have unlimited toppings on your burger and refillable drinks plus the chips are massive portions and the best you will ever have in a different league to maccies and BK
Five Guys is not bad apart from the over cooked crispy "American" style bacon! Also five guys sure is expensive.Having said that i did rate it 8/10 and did enjoy it- the pub burger did not have bacon and the pub chips did not look as good.
The fries at Five Guys in Manchester Piccadilly are really floppy and soft, they're horrid. When I gave them a review on Google saying the burgers were good, but the fries are way too floppy, they replied that they don't cook their fries to be crispy. Weird that yours were crisp. Maybe the people of Yorkshire just wont put up with soggy limp fries. Good on yer!

you have to take in to account unlimited drink. and more chips and all the extra on the burger.
since you took longer and found it more filling. 5 guy may be better value. but still very expensive for just a burger
They're both a bit expensive but Five Guys for sure fills you up for the rest of the day
It's always gonna be Five Guys. Other than Wimpy, it's head and shoulders above the rest! Yes, it's expensive, but you get what you pay for along with the refillable drink, which is Cherry Coke for me. I must say, those chips at the pub look dry and lifeless.
The chips look burnt. I'd only eat the n8ce looking ones. The burger looks great.

I prefer five guys period the fries are so much better and I think the hamburger taste better. The other one taste like it got additives in it other kinds of soy flavoring and stretches and things it taste more processed.
I make my own burgers! Much cheaper and no screaming kids!
