The car was teased back in March 2022, where it was referred to as the “sport crossover” alongside the electric Puma and Explorer. Bringing back the Capri name would evoke nostalgia for many Europeans who remember the original Cortina-based Capri coupe sold between 1969 and 1986. Advertised as “the car you always promised yourself,” the classic Capri was a simple, rear-wheel drive coupe with engines ranging from 1.3 to 3.1 liters, producing 50 to 150 horsepower.
This new model will be significantly more powerful, likely offering a choice between a 282-horsepower single-motor setup and a 335-horsepower dual-motor configuration. The single-motor version, which powers the rear wheels, can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 6.4 seconds and features a 77 kWh battery, providing a range of 354 miles. The dual-motor all-wheel drive version hits 62 miles per hour in just 5.3 seconds, with a 79 kWh battery offering a 329-mile range.
