I think they could have done a better paint job. To me that just looks like it would be perfect on an ESB card but not for the original Star Wars card. I just got one recently to finally complete the Black Series 12. I have them on display in the same order I got them in when I was a kid above my re-carded originals. Vader and 3PO are next to each other but they just don't pop like the originals do. 3PO is just so dull. I got my first Darth Vader and 3PO on the same day at the same store in Australia when I was 10. That was in May 1978 and the store must have just got a box of each because that's all they had. It was still early days. I already had Luke and R2 from the previous month. They were slowly beginning to appear. But seeing all those black Vaders and gleaming gold 3P0s hanging together on pegs was one beautiful sight. And we had them with the Toltoys logo for the first and second waves...
This figure is great. I don’t need threepio to pose like Darth Maul so the limited articulation works just fine. The paint looks great too. Thanks for reviewing my favorite character
I 100% agree. He is pretty perfect the way he is. While I do like the paint, the only thing I would change/ask for would be a more shiny gold. A more “chrome” effect if ya feel me. But I still love it nonetheless. I’m glad you enjoyed it hyper! If he’s your favorite character I’m sure you have good taste. I appreciate you watching and commenting. Means a lot.
I have this exact same figure and he is nicely detailed. I just wish that he had a more shiny gold paint finish instead of the dull matte looking gold color paint they used for him. I do have a smaller version of him at a little over 3 inches tall by Hasbro and he does have a shinier paint finish on him but he is a much smaller scale figure.
IKR! A shiny more glossy paint would have made this figure damn near perfect. Other than the limited articulation and the paint this figure is a perfect representation of 3po. I wouldn’t mind getting another one and give him a black wash and some dry brushing just to kinda weather him a bit and give him some wear like he was in the OT. But all in all I freaking love this fig! Thanks for watching and commenting Ken.
Nice review. I'd give this figure 7/10.I have several of these for my diorama's lol and I agree! He defo needs a better paint job and more movement at the elbow. Overall as you say he is eye catching and has good detail. Your collection is awesome.
