Yea, it was pointless to have a LWB Frontier Hardbody here. It’s clearly the least off-road capable version of the Frontier and is just a nostalgic aesthetic package. I can understand if it was a Pro4X which would have done better, still wouldn’t have won but it would have truly shown a cheaper off-roader vs these maxed out models. I understand you’re working with what you can get, but common sense would have said let’s just do a comparison between the TRD Pro and Raptor.
Since we’re comparing apples to oranges here a frontier pro4x 45k$ with about 20k$ in mods equaling the the value of both those other trucks would absolutely eat up both the raptor and trd pro
Who you lying to? The raptor is literally the best off road truck😂 all you do is buy a chip from ford performance & tune it. There really is no competition
Not a good review. Very amateur. Like everyone else is saying that it doesn't make sense to compare these trims. He obviously has an issue with nissan.
You round up the two flagship medium size trucks from Toyota and Ford and an entry level Nissan based entirely on the retro 90’s Hardbody for a challenge. What’s the next comparison going to be? The Supra, the Mustang 5.0 Shelby and the Nissan Kicks?
@ Well if comparison is the objective, you pick equals ( or close to it ) for said comparison. The Pro-4X Luxury is at least closer in spec to the Toyota of Ford. The Colorado Bison would have been the appropriate selection if you wanted 3 high flyers in the comparison. The entry level Nissan was just not a good choice. I will say it will still running long after the other two break down however. Smart guy.
For all saying it’s the low end trim of the Frontier, as a PRO-4X owner, the only difference between the Hardbody and the Pro4-X is the cosmetics. The performance is exactly the same. They should have used the RWB instead of the LWB truck though.
I was only disappointed because you didn't show as much as aerial footage for the Ford as much as the Tacoma, other than that I had the same fun watching as you had experiencing this test.
The hard body is stuck in the 90s. That particular model is supposed to be a retro truck if you wanna compare as far as looks are concerned the pro 4X is as good or better looking than anything you have here.
The ones that buy the frontier or any base end 4x4 trucks are die hard off roading folks, they wanna build their own way not some already pre built spec truck. As for me I don’t know anything about off roading so I would probably buy the pre built ones and rarely to never hit the trails, the only hills my truck would climb would be speed bumps and the 2 inches of sand that goes on the roadway when I head to the beach.

This review was probably sponsored by Ford, as everything in this review was skewed to Ford’s advantage. Did not use the Nissan Pro 4X, which is Nissan’s off road competitor. Also, only did one type of off roading (high speed sand/desert running), which is where the Raptor excels. If you would have done rock crawling or what 99% of the people who buy these trucks will use it for (driving down forest roads to get to a campsite), these three would be roughly equal, if you used the Pro4X. You also left out the Chevy Colorado ZR2, which is just about as good as the Raptor at high speed sand running and significantly less expensive than the Tacoma TRD Pro and a few thousand less than the Raptor; not even the Bison; look at the shocks, ground clearance, approach and departure angles of the regular ZR2; and it comes with rock sliders. Unlike the Raptor, I can walk into any Chevy dealership anywhere and buy a ZR2 that day, and with no markup.
They must all be sponsored by ford then because i've watched about 30 videos comparing the trd pro to the RR and haven't seen a single person prefer the toyota yet.
Any idea of why the Frontier couldn't make it up the hill at the end ? It can't be the power, but a tire or 4wd system not doing something right ?? That's a huge Thumbs down to that truck for buyers who plan to do off roading. I have a 15 Frontier Pro 4x, but haven't taken it off roading. Wonder if traction control wasn't turned off or just a sucky 4wd system ???
I have a 2011 pro-4x. Can't speak for serious off roading, but the 4wd system is great in the snow. It could be the tires they have on the truck in the video.
Techically in this test pro4x wouldnt make a difference because lockin rear diff wasnt used. Only the 4H for all trucks, & if that the case, this frontier on 4H is same as a pro 4x. So, if Sam can verify if the traction control was on still & if off on the others ? So we know what happened
You need to do more research on the trucks before presenting it. There were several key things missed on each of these, like the adjustable shocks on the toyota and Rapter. Very unfair for Nissan using lower model and long bed to compare to the top teir others. The toyota can go faster with proper shock and mode settings.

@ No worries brother. I own a Pro4X so I’m bias regardless, although I know there’s no way in hell it could keep up with the Raptor or this new Taco
@@michaelmejias593glad your honest! Truth!
This is the most stupid and ridiculous video I've ever seen. Why would you take a street truck and put it up against two off-road vehicles. As usual everyone wants to knock and beat up on a Nissan. I would love to see that same exact challenge by using the pro 4
Hard body was not a street truck? wTH?
@SamCarLegion compared to the other two trucks it is a street truck. It does not have the lifted suspension nor the nice meaty tires
@@TM-gv6zvdoesn't matter either way the nissan is by far the loser and shouldn't even be there. The other 2 trucks are worlds and worlds better! It should've been one of the at4 twins
@@SamCarLegionit’s a street truck. It has the same suspension as an SV. The hardbody package is retro aesthetic only.
This video was boring 🥱 I was expecting a proper hill, not a little slope
Nothing satisfies you Greg :) I see this comment in everyday video.
😂😂
Yea why not use the pro4x. Not a good comparison video. Downvote
Why do u think? Downvote
@SamCarLegion pro4x is different than the suspension in a hard body. Better looking interior. I have a 22 pro4x and yes it needs lifted a bit but for the price it's to me a better option but stock bilsteins. Can titan swap fairly easy and cheap too for the money you'd pay to get a trail hunter. You still have extra money. Plus 4 turbo vs v6. Nissian all the way. I traded my 17 tacoma for my 22 pro4x.
I am asking why did we not use the PRO4X?
@@SamCarLegion I didnt catch that part. But I've seen alot of UA-camrs do the same thing
@@SamCarLegion it's just a hate bash on the frontier. You are right the tacoma looks like it's compensating though lol
