Actual level difficulty: Fairly easy.
Letter/Coin/Password availability: Normal.
It's a training stage, what do you expect?
0:16:26 Hero's Gauntlet
Actual level difficulty: Medium
Letter/Coin/Password availability: Above average difficulty, some are tricky.
If you miss anything here you either kill yourself to begin from the last checkpoint or simply restart.
0:20:48 The Centaurs' Forest
Actual level difficulty: Medium
Letter/Coin/Password availability: Above average difficulty, some are tricky.
For starters this level may be a headache, since they may miss some roads.
0:33:59 The Big Olive
Actual level difficulty: Above Medium if you're looking for 100%
Letter/Coin/Password availability: Some places are quite Hard to reach or notice.
The level is big to begin with, some may get lost, not to mention get all items.
0:53:38 The Hydra Canyon
Actual level difficulty: Medium
Letter/Coin/Password availability: Quite difficult to get everything, you have to wait and not miss any falling rock.
Generally Medium to Easy level if you're experienced.
1:00:53 Medusa's Lair
Actual level difficulty: One of the Hardest levels on Herculean
Letter/Coin/Password availability: Same as Hydra's Lair, only instead of rocks - skeletons.
If you get past this level - you're home free.
1:05:15 Cyclops Attacks
Actual level difficulty: Above Medium to Hard
Letter/Coin/Password availability: The roads split into 2, you can't get everything 100% unless you die.
Not really THAT hard if you're just running.
1:16:32 Titan Flight
Actual level difficulty: Hard
Letter/Coin/Password availability: Impossible to collect all coins (w/o cheats).
Generally difficult level followed by some frustrating moments.
1:22:00 Passageways of Eternal Torment
Actual level difficulty: Fairly easy after all levels we've been through.
Letter/Coin/Password availability: Same as Hero's Gauntlet

This is a reupload of my really popular walkthrough. Sad to see the original go, but I could not salvage it. All cutscenes that had Disney movie are now removed too.
This is a very old walkthrough and I didn't save the source at the time so I'm sorry that the quality isn't as good as usual. Other than credits and cutscenes this walkthrough contains everything untouched just like in the original 500,000 view video. Timestamps have been updated too. Enjoy.
Awesome job man. Just one tip: In the centaur's forest you can actually hit back the centaurs throwing rocks at you. All you have to do is duck and press the punch button just before the rock lands on you.
Also use the fire sword on the big harpies in titan flight, as sometimes one hits equals 2 for them.

When my grandma brought me my second console, she got me a PS1. In the same transaction, I picked up this game because I loved the movie. Thank you for bring back memories. When I was little, I thought the background where it says "Checking for memory card" was a bonus level, and only works when if you had a memory card. Needlessly to say, I got two memory cards because of that. Of course it never worked, but hey, at least I didn't have to start over all the time. Now we had save states with the emulators.
41:05 This part is one of my favorite parts of this game, is that I just discovered a secret trick to bypass the whole swinging puzzle. I did what it was called the Ninja maneuver, in which I did the swing from the first on the left, jerk to the right, and at the right time, just press up and slightly before the X button, I jumped up to do so, then did the same thing on the second one, and then the third one, although it's hard but it can take some practice to perfect. And the same goes for the other one on the right, that had two poles. Also, Titan Flight, Passageways of Eternal Torment and Vortex of Souls are my favorite levels, btw.
I needed help with Big Olive's monster, couldn't figure out what to do after that first block. Thanks a bunch!

Man... I remember it looking way better on a CRT.
I think Dota 2 heroes is based on Hercules mythology, like Centaur Warrunner and Zeus. But how about Mars The God of War?
that's called greek mythology man there is no thing such as Hercules mythology. And dota has characters from all the world's mythologies.

The blue centaur boss had me shaken up as a kid I can remember, took me at least 100 times to complete
The game doesn't specify how to defeat him. But if you let the game idle there's a demo showcasing it.

how carefuly you planned your loses in Cyclops, i wonder how many times you tried to complete the game and record it without losing. It loos impossible, to do this at one shot
You cannot get 100% in one run, unfortunately. So to get everything you have to re-do segments. Meanwhile the flying stage makes it impossible altogether.
I'm pissed that they minus out the clips from the movie!

You need to play on Normal difficulty or higher. Then you have to collect all letters on all stages.
I've had this game almost 30 years and never realized you could throw boulders into the background to hit the targets in the first level. I knew that's how you beat the centaurs in level 3, but never realized it for level 1. F*ck me, right? 😂
This is more of a SNES Video Game than a PS1
one.

Today I found this game on Steam (I didn't even think to see if it is available).
This was my first game as 6 an old kid in 1999 on ps 1. I still have an original cd of the game.
I don't remember anything after titans fight , so it probably I never played after it as kid
Men I didn't play this game in 20 + years.
Menage to finish on easy difficulty, but more then I don't think I can complete.
The PC version is a bit different from the PS1 version.
But yes, easy difficulty prevents you from getting the true ending, and I think not gathering all the letters did too.

Can anyone tell me what coins are for? Except your rating at the end.
I believe they were purely for completion satisfaction. Not to mention there are levels where it's impossible to get all coins at all. The important collectibles are letters (for true ending) and vases (for passwords).

The trick is that the vases drop from particular heads.

Each difficulty has its own set of passwords. This video is on Herculean, which is the highest one.

I bought this game for Windows on GOGs and in the training level, I still don't understand why do we we have to throw the rock multiple times to get rid of the green dummy ??
The rock falls behind some of the dummies and it's the rock shambles are the ones that destroy the last targets. It's intentionally tricky.

Whats the deal with difficulty? How does it affect gameplay?
On higher difficulty the enemies are beefier, thus require more hits to be taken out. You also receive more damage. This makes the boss battles notably more difficult. Plus, you can only get the true ending on higher difficulties (Normal and above, IIRC).
Lastly, I would recommend the new walkthrough in the pinned comment here.

@@DfactorLongplays I just beat it via password on herculean losing just one life. Then Hades boss was too easy, although beefy and I had just regular sword.
Will the game restart after finishing?? Or shows some cutscenes?
There is no New Game+, so you'll be starting from the beginning.
You can reload your saves or use the password system to replay any level you like.
If you get all collectibles (on normal and above?) you get the true ending and after it the bonus cutscenes.

D Factor Longplays,can you please explain how the hell did you manage to get all coins in just 7 minutes at the level Hydra Cannon????I played for at least an hour literally my nerves just... and then i decided to finish the boss and guess what only 99% Wtf is this please?
You're supposed to use audio cues of rocks and coins to determine if they fell. I did some tests for this and determined that after a while the rate would stop/decrease. Assuming you keep collecting every coin perfectly you should get 100%. Not an easy task, though.
@@DfactorLongplays Ok,thank.Will i then be able to continue straight on the next level or not.Because its kind of made really stupid you know what i mean when you press F3 i cant select the next level even though i did manage to collect all the coins and letters in the later levels it wont count till i make it in the Hydra Canyon level first.
Coins are more or less pretty much a completionist thing. The important bits are the letters and since boss fights don't have them then it doesn't matter as much. There are even levels where it's pretty much impossible to get all coins.
@@DfactorLongplays Yeah but i mean since boss fights dont have letters do coins count as "letters"?So that i dont have to repeat the level over and over again.What i want is that all Levels are unlocked when you press the F3 button where you can choose the levels,thats all i want off course the coins dont matter to me lol :D
No, coins don't count as letters. You just have to finish these. Letters are so you can open a true ending.

8:44 how do i hold the rock I'm stuck on there
To pick up a boulder you have to hold d-pad button in its direction. So if a boulder is to the right of you, you hold right. Herc will pick it up.
To throw it on top of the targets you'd have to hold up on the d-pad and press sword attack button (square on PS1).
To drop the boulder on the ground you press sword attack button (square on PS1) w/o any direction.
