Thanks for this. We need more coaches like you in youth sports. I was a late bloomer that "exploded" and both my boys appear to be as well. We focus on multi-sport skill development, lots of hustle, and keeping a positive attitude in everything they do, not just sports.
This is excellent advice and very appropriate for many kids that see their teammates "leaving them behind". For my own son, I tell him that it is coming, but don't wait for it. Outwork your competition, develop superior mechanics, be as efficient as possible, command the zone, and when the velo comes, you will already be mechanically sound and command the zone with 3 pitches.
This is great stuff Dan. Showed this to my 14 yr old who has always lacked in size but just recently realized it. It lit a fire! He said he doesn’t mind waiting and until then he will do what he can; I.e. lift weights, weight gainer etc., to do what he can to promote his growth. Not all 9 guys are going to be power hitters in a lineup is one of the best reminders to not only players and coaches but also parents as to what there child’s role should be.
In 2017 i was 5’8 as a freshman. 2018 my sophomore year i was 5’9 my junior year i was still 5’9 my senior year i was still 5’9. By the age of 19 and 20 i only grew 1 inch 5’10 now im 21. 5’10 for a fact im still growing but it soo slow sometimes i dont understand because my dad is 6’4 and my mom is 5’4 my brother is 6’1
@@DanBlewett yes it is by the age of 24 i will be 6’2 hopefully i can squeeze 6’3 before im 25 they say 25 is the dead line but you never know till you keep track ❤️ health diet and cardio boost them hormones it’s never too late.
5'7 and high IQ is better than a 6'6 defensive liability. And there are lots of guys in the bigs who are paid to be good defensively, get on base, have good arms.. not everyone needs to cream every pitch

Great video. Very encouraging for the late bloomers.

Thanks you so much for this wonderful video. Great advice for my soon to be 14 year old. This is exactly what he needed to hear Dan. Thank you again.
What a positive, truthful message. This will help many young players grinding it out. Keep that dream alive!!

yeah, good advice. so many kids struggle with this. Life isnt fair; control what you can
Dan, I want to be on your team! I'm afraid I'm about five decades too late, but, I'm learning a ton from you and I appreciate it.⚾
Great video Dan. Can’t wait to have my son watch after school.
I hope it helps!
Thank you very much, I needed this video because as a 5'4 15 yr old I struggle everyday because of my height
YOUR DAY WILL COME 🚀
And don’t forget, you can be small and still a serious contender. Altuve and Pedroia come to mind.
