Glad I was able to help you! Shame that you couldn't get it to work with your PC drive, but glad you got it working with your Amiga one! (Oh, you pronounced my name perfectly! 🤣)
Yes. I’ve written a couple disks now. Using the CMD line commands. However, I use the new GUI that was released. I guess I should update this video with that.
@@HoldandModify I have the greeseweasle v4 and works with every PC floppy drive ive thrown at it including two PC floppy drives connected to one floppy ribbon cable, all working perfect...However there seems to be confusion regarding writing formats like scp or ipf files back to real amiga floppy disks and DD & HD disks ect, software like the GUI flux my fluffy floppy or Gcopy does not mention anything reagrding support for HD disk writing which many ipf or scp formats need to work correctly.. confused!! Could Hold and Modify do an update on the situation? :)
@@rfxtuber my update is to buy a Drawbridge and the compatible USB floppy drive and use it. Lol. Sorry, while I like the GW and I have used it now and then, it still only works in CMD line only mode for me. Where as the drawbridge mod for USB floppy drive is easy, clean, and “just works.” I’ll be making a video about it soon. Thank you for watching and your patience.
@@HoldandModify LOL! do i detect a bit of... "dood forget it with greeseweasle" Ok you are making sense... but i cant help feeling like ive been sold a pup with the GW as the software has no info about handling the formats for the gotek, ipf and scp and DD and HD PC disk drives??.. i have been on the list for a drawbridge for ages.. only way is to make one.. Note.. i have just seen robs firmware update June 2022 and boom!!! new firmware supports writing tracks 82 83 HD? me thinks this is my problem? Thanks for creating awesome informative videos, looking forward to video about drawbridge, make sure you test ipf and scp writing to amiga floppies and gotek compatibility....as the gotek only support normal adf and hfe which is a real deal breaker!! Thanks!!!!!
Interesting, Kevin. I hooked up my Greaseweazel to three different PC drives with two cables and two power cables and neither worked at all. It never even tried to read the actual drive, and the drive was constantly spinning with a power light on. Hooked up an Amiga drive and it worked in two seconds flat - just like yours. I wonder what is up, as Matthew from AmigaKit says these work with PC drives fine. Maybe just 720 K drives? But that would be stupid.
If the light is constantly on then the data cable might be reversed. Unfortunately many floppy drives I have encountered did not have any keying on the socket so it is easy to plug them in in the wrong orientation. As I also have the Greaseweazel I can confirm that it does indeed work with PC drives for 720kb and 1.44mb.
A lot of the drives I've seen can just be powered from 5v and don't need the 12v (the 12v pin is the farthest to the left on the back of of the floppy drive). You can sometimes see if it is connected or not. There are sometimes power cables on some Amigas where the cables doesn't even have the 12v line at all (the middle 2 pins are both ground, so you might see a power connector with only 2 cables in it instead of 4). See this Amiga 500 teardown from Dave Jones, where one of the A500's only has the 2 cables, so it's definitely a 5v only drive. ua-cam.com/video/HKNVIgsbYrA/v-deo.html

Is it really 60? No way! Lol
Have you had success writing Amiga disks with the GreaseWeazle?

@@rfxtuber awesome news and thanks for sharing the update alert. I’ll check it out.
