I was hoping this would be an actual hinge replacement, not just the pins/bushings. Long-term problem on these trucks is the actual hinges bend/sag slightly over time which messes up door alignment, and the hinges are welded onto the body so not easy to replace (or so I'm told).
A lot of folks fix sagging doors/hinges by putting a jack under the door and using it to gently/slowly bend the hinges/door back to where it will close better.
@@mickjager5974 Yeah I tried that on mine… lifting the open door with a jack just lifted the whole vehicle. I could never get that motion to isolate itself to the hinges.

@@MattsGarage I just changed the part that is the problem, I did this job just like you did but it did NOT correct the problem. hahaha. Yeah it's weird to work on a newer car (only 28 years old). That last 10-15 years is where they go sideways. But nothing I've done on this chevy needed any heat and no broken bolts yet.
I found some hinge bushing made of steel rather than the brittle brass/bronze ones. Holding up so far, but need to go back and push them and the pins back into place some. Seems like It might be nice to have drilled a hole in pin to put a cotter pin that would work better than the cheese clips. Next I want to find more modern door checks to retrofit for the old ones that have fallen off somewhere along the road...literally!
I am doing mine; did you replace your bushing I bought my kit from LMC trucks and it didn’t come with it Do I need to purchase that so I can replace the whole thing because my door is really bad
what happens when you put brand new pins and bushings in still have the SAG then you go back and you buy some more brand new pins and bushings install them in still the same sag what are you doing then is it that the hinge itself is wallered out?
Time for the body shop, cut and/or drill out the welds then dissolve the glue still holding them on, then make your own hinge that will work better. Maybe just bolt on some house door hinges to the outside of the door, they'll last forever.
