@mjsmith777 I agree with you! Everyone believes that black rock guitarist all wanted to copy Jimi Hendrix, but Eddie Hazel influenced many guitarist during his time with Funkadelic. Eddie was influenced by Jimi Hendrix, but he created his own style that differed from Hendrix. Mike Hampton and Blackbyrd McKnight cannot match the emotional intensity that Eddie Hazel was able to deliver when he played. Eddie was simply in a class all by himself. R.I.P Eddie Hazel!
people like to compare sh*t instead of just enjoying it ALL! Byrd and Eddie and Mike are definitely guitar gods in their own right. but I betcha if you ask them, like most guitarists, they'll acknowledge Jimi as THE Master! I play, yeah I also wanted to be Jimi, but you quickly learn there was only ONE! fly on Blackbyrd, LOVE ya baby!
I'm a little bias something about the Mind, of an Aries guitar player, Eddie Hazel, Blackbird , Halal Slovak on and on ! and Myself we some BEAST!!!!!!!
I beg to differ....on the studio version of this...he pours his soul out there for ya...you can feel it...guitar playing is funny...I guess just like any other instrument...I play also...not on the technical level of this guy...he obviously has been at it DEEP for a long time...but I think that most players will tell you that after awhile...even Hendrix himself or Eddie..would tell you that after playing the same songs...you get kinda used to it...but sometimes that Muse will hit you and it ta
Why are all Black guitarists compared to Hendrix, or said to be trying to play like him, or they are his sons? They all have unique individual styles. The ones who are trying to be imitators have their limitations, because they may play like him but they can't think like him. They can play his songs, but can't make new material because they can only imitate not innovate. The posers are easy to spot. With that said, who are all the white guitar players compared to? The best guitarists are the ones who wring the emotions out of their instrument, not just music and effects. Eddie Hazel could do that. Make you feel what he was playing.Good music will do that, when performed by the right musician.
i like this guy, but don't think he's anything like jimi except that he is of african descent. most great Black guitarists have their own "flavors" and sould like any number of guitarists Black and otherwise. because people generally relate Black Rock to one man these days Jimi comes up. But this guy is more Eddie Hazel than he is Jimi Hendrix. Suggestion, check out more Eddie Hazel and while you're at it check out Jimi Hazel (24-7 Spyz), Dr. Know (Bad Brains), Vic Johnson (Bus Boys).
Blackbyrd may not be better than Eddie, but i saw him & Michael Hampton play together back 2001. I hate to admit it but Blackbyrd owned Michael Hampton that day. Blackbyrd was in Herbie Hancock's band the Headhunters.
Blackbyrd is bringing the noise :)
Just stop comparing him and Michael Hampton and Eddie Hazel. They're all awesome in their own ways.
Let us not forget Lige Curry on bass. He is Michael Hampton's cousin. He toured with P-Funk in the late 70's also.
This is the best live ,Fly on Solo , he's has so much control , the tone is perfect , he's killing it go head on respect !!!!!!!!!!!
Did you know Blackbyrd got his start playing Jazz Fusion in Herbie Hancock's band HEADHUNTERS!
The drummer has good feel.

Whats The Name of this song?
What Album is this song on?
Dope Dogs
@rewolf2107 do you know what guitar he is using please
@mjsmith777 More like Total Eclipse than busboys for Vic Johnson. He didn't do his complete thing in the busboys.
soo, what is the real sense of life ??
The Chilli Peppers should have picked Black Byrd over John Frusciante.
Blackbird is good but no one compares tohazel Michael Hampton !

Blackbyrd is a aggressive and vicious headhunter. Hampton is great, but The Mighty Black is the next stage...
Blackbyrd is badder than even Hendrix.
guitar molestation
blackbyrd is badder than even Hendrix.
No one is or can be better than the original artist
