I have this exact Alpine. I saved it from the recycling in 2020.
My first car was an 86 Honda Accord manual 4 door and I bought it used with an Alpine 7156 (or a model very close to it) already installed. To date I've never experienced music in a vehicle like I did in my Honda with 4 brand new JBL 6ers only - no sub at all. It was incredible. Sadly I traded that Honda in for a brand new POS Ford Ranger in 99 after 5 years and 100k of driving the Accord. It was 122k when I got it and 222K when I traded it in. Getting rid of that car was a questionable decision on my part (I see fewer than ever on the road), but I should NEVER have let that Alpine go.
I think people today want between $300 and $900 for that Alpine deck. Anyway - I'm happy and grateful that you decided to do these videos for the 7534 model because at some point I'm going to tear mine down, clean it, replace whatever I need to, and install it in my 91 Volvo 240 - a constant project among many. Then I need a vintage double DIN Alpine for my 88 4runner!
You are correct. No music present while driving either one since I got them (240 in 2007, and the 4runner in 2016). Don't judge! I've had a crap ton going on!
I've been doing a lot of singing to myself in lieu of tunage.

MTL is a finger that detects a gap in the cassette tape shell close to the center of the top. The outboard tabs are record (break to prevent recording as in most all pre recorded tapes) the one just inboard of that is type II CRo2/70us chrome tape detect and the ones farthest inboard are type IV metal. There is another tab for a type III Ferro-chrome that is no longer produced and nothing but a early decent home cassette deck will the setting for. Those tapes did not work over time so they were discontinued.

This alpine uses a geared transport with a belt driven REW/FFW so its nice that it will play without a tired belt. I had 3 other cassette decks that I was looking at and all had transport issues due to bad belt, no belt or faulty controls. Too bad this is a DIN player and not a shaft for my classic car.

Hello Steve, How May I get in touch to discuss issues with an alpine tdm 75345?

I've been out of the game for a while. Cassette decks fail for 1 reason, rubber: either rubber drive wheels or rubber drive belts. Both dissolve from the ozone created by the electric motors or just age. Sony belts are the worst, Technics are the best. Thats why I likes Alpines with their gear drives

@@68pishta68 thanks for getting back. My issue is a unit that no longer powers up. When I push the power button, I get a clock readout and all the lighted buttons flash. I’m afraid it’s toast. 😟
