so I got this from TV Tropes, but there was an old battle report from a white dwarf that said that if Every bullet that exists in the 40k universe right now was shot at, and successfully killed, a Tyranid, not only would it not wipe them out, but there would still be more than enough of them left to take over the Galaxy. Think about how heavily milliteralised the 40k galaxy is, then come back.
kelman727 Still looks like that fluff could be relevant if you look at the size of leviathan as it comes up from the underside of the galaxy, Being about a third of the galaxy's size.
Yes but as Scout Sergeant Cyrus likes to say a lot in DoW, "One shot can do the work of millions". Meaning that you don't need all the bullets in 40K. You just need to destroy the synapse creatures controlling the rest of the Tyranids and then let them destroy each other, as they go back to their primal states.
Jonathan Lakpuri That is true. Though I think the statement was if the bullets were fired Indiscriminantly. So the bullets in question have the same chance to hit a ripper, as the swarmlord
+draconiccuss you get it wrong, if you gonna to orbital bombardment and it's not Exterminatus, then well Use all of it, might maybe work, 1, tyranids are faster spamers then anyone, plus they can be everywhere on the planet allready.. so nukeing an area might not work at all then slow them down a tiny bit.
I like how you always talk/read slowly and deliberately, and articulate carefully in your lore vids. Makes it much easier for non-native speakers with bad hearing like me to understand. Vaults of Terra, for example, also has fascinating and extensive lore vids, but with his fast-paced and happy-go-lucky style, I often have problems discerning what is he saying lol.
The tyranids were drawn to the universe during the Horus Heresy. In the novel Pharos, a substitute for the astronomicon in the Ultramar Realm was used when that realm was cut off from the rest of the galaxy by a warp storm. It was attacked by the Night Lords, and rendered useless, but not before it sent out one last powerful pulse of light. This was detected by the Great Devourer, that changed course to the Milky Way.
Nathcreep maybe true but the nids have Successfully eaten many galaxys and can adapt to anything plus any losses they take they will just eat their own dead to be used again so you kill a nids they eat its corpse and will be used to make more over and over and the hive mind very Intelligent
The demons in the warp probably haven't taken notice of their psychic powers because of how rigidly they apply it to their infrastructure, like a telegraph system, whereas humans wield their psychic powers like a big, loud sledge hammer
One thing that sounds a bit contradictory; they can use psychic abilities which should attract the chaos gods, but they seem to do everything they can to avoid the warp. But then they send psychic beacons through the warp, which should attract the gods, no?
0:59 Do you actually mean universes here, or galaxies? Are the Tyranids from a different dimension? I mean, I know the demons are, but as far as I knew there was only our universe and the Warp in the 40k lore. I'm vastly ignorant on this subject, and would appreciate an explanation. Just bringing this up because there are few things that bother me more than someone confusing a universe for a galaxy, ever since a very heated argument I had in my early teens with a cousin of mine that ended in a physical altercation.
This is the only vid I've seen in this series so I hope you fix this later. You shouldn't waste time saying "fact X" Just put a number up as you go into the next. I really got tired of hearing you say "Fact number"
in sci fi settings i've always been a fan of the alien species that can incorporate the genes of other life forms to evolve zerg, tyranids etc, though personally like the zerg a bit more since find the idea of the gun like devices or whatever the tyranids use to be somewhat i would say out of character for that sort of alien to techy like. otherwise i would probably say like them about the same though im somewhat more familiar with the zerg then tyranid
I want the Tyranids as dlc for all the dawn of war 1 games, its a dream of mine. The Tyranids are a amassing race just like all the others. Pleas help me with a petition the add the Tyranids.
+Christian Sandoval Well they had Tyranids in Dawn of war 2, so i'm quite sure they will be a playable race in Dawn of war 3 ( when or if it comes out) but Tyranids will maybe not do anything really with the story, who knows, Might be Tau invading? or ye maybe get to play as the Tau? who knows, Games Worshop might know but not i, :c
maybe i missed it but what can they eat? people have said biomass but other people say anything. im curious because they have gone out of their way to avoid necrons which are one of the most obvious counters to a necron invasion (the other counters would be chaos and orks)
+654billygoat since the pyrovore its clear that at least some tyranids are also able to eat steel, stone, ore..basically everything mineral based, to make these available to the fleet. Just think of it like people eating vitamin/mineral supplements, if your main "food" doesnt contain enough of those vitamins/minerals you need to bump it up somehow to suit your needs^^ but on the large absorbers, gaunts, etc. are only described as biomass eating.
Anything, and they basically don't eat, they are created, they ingest things, stock them,if they are powerful like Carnifexes or Trygon they keep fighting, and at the end of the invasion they crawl in digestion pulls and their biomass gets pumped back in the ships. But Rippers only do the created, ingesting, dissolved, created again cycle until the planet is stripped.
Fact 42: The Hive Fleet Leviathan is a scouting fleet, the main true Tyranid invasion fleet begin bigger than the Milky Way galaxy itself. (The worst part is that the info is inferred of canon content)
Wonder if the Old ones (some that left the galaxy maybe) created the tyranids to try kill all life that give power to the warp and thus killing off the warp gods that now plague it. or they turned them self's into the tyranids race.
Hilman Samsung From what I can remember they came across a khorne battle host which started a large scale war like the conflict with the orks as the Tyranid's mind couldn't be corrupted and the chaos daemons left no biomass to be collected.
Idea, maybe nurgle originally created the first nids but then they escalated out of his control and they would then terrify the other gods except for malal and thats why the chaos gods avoid messing with them now..... Its just an idea
Just wondering as someone that is relatively new to 40k lore, has any race successfully fought off a full fledged Tyranid invasion as described in this video? I mean damn, it sounds nearly impossible for a planet to win unless they saw the invasion coming giving them time to prepare. But, even then it doesn't look good. Out of all the enemies of mankind, who poses the greatest threat? Who has the best chances at dominating the star systems in the future? The necrons? Chaos? Tyranids? Tao? Sorry for all the questions, but this stuff has me going. Time to go to my local game shop and start the hobby lol
Necrons are the most powerful, their mysterious nature, not knowing when will they show up or from from where, imagine if all the necrons woke up from their sleep, that would be amazing.
John Smith if the Eldar ever revert back to their life as High Eldar they would not have much issue I don't think. At the hight of their power they could create anything from the warp in realspace.
I would say the necrons or the tyranids, the neurons could potentially finish waking up after the tyranids move on from the galaxy (they would not be targeted by tyranids since they are not biological matter)
After watching its hard to see how any battle against the tyranids could be anything but a loss for the victims. Kinda makes it hard to justify fielding them in an even point battle in the table top game :P
It makes sense that the mythological creatures were tyranids it also makes sense that Hindus interacted with tau because all the old gods in Hinduism have blue skin and all the extinction events were just tyranids I know it’s like some crackpot theory but like it kinda makes sense
message posted You're missing the point by thinking of the tyranids too small scale. The people, planets or systems aren't the meal, the whole galaxy is. In your analogy, the planets they are eating arent cows in a herd, they're the cells within a steak. Metabolically the tyranids are a petrol fire - they NEED to consume the milky way completely just to survive. They cant support a cultivative structure - especially when you consider that the entirety of the combined tyranid hive fleets in the galaxy are just scouts. Some theorize they are fleeing something worse as well. Either way - they aren't planning on sticking around. They're here to dine and dash to the next galaxy.
message posted You're failing to grasp the scale of the tyranids. It would be like a human trying to survive off a single carrot by taking a bite a day then replanting it. The tyranid macro-organism is too large to survive off the milky way galaxy. Their scout fleets (every tyranid in the 40k setting) have had to wipe entire sectors of any trace of life just to sustain themselves to continue forward. The space between galaxies is unfathomably large compared to any scale within the 40k universe - that is an unfeasible distance for an organism as large as the tyranids to travel to just set up shop - its a simple migratory feeding habit witnessed often in real world earth, like locust - move from place to place consuming everything just to sustain their numbers. In the lore it states the Tyranids have already wiped many other galaxies clean of life, which further supports the idea that their biological mass and metabolic rate means cultivation is an unfeasible option for them. The milky way is just a drive though McDonald's burger to tie them over till the next meal.
Scott Radcliffe I vote the flood only because the forerunners and anichant humans were on par or slightly less advanced then the High Eldar (if the halo universe had the warp I would 10 out of 10 pet the halo guys as more advanced) yet the only way they had of slowing the flood down was killing everything in the galaxy... And that still was not enough. Not to mention, the halo universe can kill entire galaxies while the 40k can't as far as we've seen or can postulate.
Scott Radcliffe Id say Tyranids. Flood need to infect their hosts to spread - Tyranids are immune to all kinds of infection, virus, poison or parasite due to their rapid evolution. It would result in the flood having to fight the Tyranids in conventional warfare which is not their strong suit.
Tyranids. Physicaly flood combat forms are far weaker in both defense and offense. They are mostly seen bludgeoning enemies to the ground and take several swipes to breach a spartans shields, wheras tyranids will tear you apart with razor sharp claws that cut through power armour like a hot knife through butter. Defensively, we see the flood are reletively weak and fleshy. Essentialy zombies with no real armour other than what the victim had on them at the time wheras Tyranids have hardened carapace that have been shown to shrug off bolter rounds. The Flood also require hosts to reproduce and grow however tyranids do not require hosts and just take any biomass they can get. Should the flood infect a tyranid or the tyranids consume flood biomatter, they will start devoloping immunity to the flood, rendering their means of reproduction innert unless another source is nearby. Now comes a big factor, numbers. Both the Flood and tyranids have been hypothesised to be universe expanding pathogens that have potentialy consumed thousands of galaxys beyong the milky way. However, the main factor here would be food supply. Depending on the amount of living bioforms in the system, the flood would only have a limit number of subjects to infect, but as said earlier, the tyranids don't need hosts and litteraly suck planets dry and make quadrillions more tyranids from the biomass obtained previously and they would begin to do so within hours of consuming biomatter.
+Ambush there is a theory that those "main fleets" are just the tip of the iceberg and that they are simply the first to arrive and that the main force is yet to come
Niall Lamberton nope. It'll take at least a thousand years for them to reach it - but they are slowly making their way there with little sign of stopping or slowing.

Old fluff, and no one knows how many Tyranids there actually are except GW. If they want Leviathan to be the last major hive fleet, they can.
kelman727 Still looks like that fluff could be relevant if you look at the size of leviathan as it comes up from the underside of the galaxy, Being about a third of the galaxy's size.
Yes but as Scout Sergeant Cyrus likes to say a lot in DoW, "One shot can do the work of millions". Meaning that you don't need all the bullets in 40K. Yeah but it's said all around the place Leviathan,Behemoth,Gorgon and Kraken are just the vanguard of something much bigger
the Nids: the biggest nopes in the cosmos

exactly and I thought nurgle was worser.
Gargantuloth yep
Fact 41 : Kill it with Fire.
+Jim Raynor all of them
Then nuke it from orbit. Twice.

+Jim Raynor you must construct additional pylons... oh wait wrong game...
ye never know man, if a new dawn of war comes out so will there maybe be a change for the eldar, makeing Eldar generators into pylons : P
We all know how this will end, orks and nids fighting it out for eternity.
While the tau laugh at their meaningless battles muhahahaha
+TheGreatMoonFrog yeah orks make the best meatshields for the nids but it does have 1 drawback...that is they will feed the nids too much :/
Necrons and nods foghting ot out is how see it
+Gargantuloth *nids
+Gargantuloth that'd be awesome
**looks down to see im not wearing any jeans** JEAN STEALERS!

When you thought that the Zerg from Starcraft where bad. The Tyranids take things to a whole new level. (spoiler Zerg concept was taken from Tyranids)
Mathias CZR01 can u check my channel out
Starship Troopers and Alien Xenomorphs actually... were the tyranid also have their origin.
Mathias CZR01 Starcaft Zerg are just a rip off of tyranids.
Oh no... it's retarded :(

"...and then the Moon!..." so glad you gave up on this style of narration. I reached this video after 50 others, keep it up :)
fact 41, you are reading this straight from the wikia.
I like how you KNOW that I'm painting while I listen to this.
+Nitrome Nerd I see you through the warp.
I absolutely love your series. I love listening to your videos while working on my own universe. Thank you for doing what you do.
I would really like a Chaos 80 or 40 facets please.
brother get me the flamer. The heavy flamer.
I'm glad in later videos you stopped counting off the fact numbers. That was a good call
so this is where the zerg were ripped off from. always wondered about that
Wow this stuff is great and PERFECT listening while painting.
Good job!

Do 40 Facts About the Grey Knights Please.

Hey this is cool, nice to know there are other Tyranid nuts out there just like me : )
+Sami Lynn yes, nids are amazing
Damm nature, you scary!

I am betting that the speculated sea monster Tyranids on Earth were Tyranids who were left behind after they consumed Mars.
Great vids keep them coming.
+Linda Salgado will do
"How have the Tyrranid avoided 'notice' by the Chaos Gods?" Simple, even Chaos doesn't wanna fuck with that can of worms XD
+Not Your Heroes Tyranids can block out the warp
Basically, the Tyranids are the most over powered and powerful race in the entire 40k universe
necrons and chaos are pretty scary too

yeah, maybe, but i was just talking about their looks, not about their strength.
well yeah I guesss. Xept the Gaunts and gargoyles and the genestealers, hierophants, flexes and rippers.
Im waiting for part 2 Tyranids lore.

They must have realized that creating the orks was enough fucking around no?
awesome video
Fact 2 is wrong, they travel across the universe, not universes. Sorry but just had to correct that XD
Ino Koludrovic but if it is universe's that would explain how they come from several directions. Without the whole universe being majorly fucked.
Daniel Jones your thinking about galaxies. They would simply be coming from the surrounding galaxies
Question: are the tyranids responsible for the chemtrail , morgellons terraforming operations happening on earth at the moment?
has the tyranid ever reach the eye of terror? if so who would win tyranid or chaos demon?
Hilman Samsung From what I can remember they came across a khorne battle host which started a large scale war like the conflict with the orks as the Tyranid's mind couldn't be corrupted and the chaos daemons left no biomass to be collected.
