- Rotterdam may crown itself as the best European city of 2015. The award was given by the international Academy of Urbanism from London. As a Rotterdam resident I couldn’t be more proud! I decided to shoot a dedicated aerial video and show you the best highlights Rotterdam has to offer.
Everything was shot on a DJI Phantom 2 with the GoPro Hero 3, edited in Aobe Premiere Pro, graded with FilmConvert with the help of Philip Bloom's tutorial; philipbloom.net...

Als Amsterdammer boeit mij de hele kinderachtige voetbal haat niet. Rotterdam is een prachtige stad die streeft naar de toekomst. Prachtige unieke architectuur, torenhoge gebouwen en leuke mensen. Rotterdam heeft ambitie, ik zie het al de New York van Nederland worden. :)
Ik ben ook gek op mijn eigen stad, maar de vertrutting in de binnenstad, coffeeshop verbod dichtbij scholen(alsof eigenaren niet kunnen zien dat iemand onder de leeftijdgrens zit... :/), hoogbouw beperkingen door schiphol's nieuwe strenge regels, ambitieloze projecten krijgen voorrang en interessante en leuke projecten worden extreem vertraagd (GETZ in koelkast gezet, Centrum Noord is nog steeds een dorp, Overhoeks heeft nog steeds na jaren geen torens).
Rotterdam weet hoe het moet! :)

Ik hou ook van beide steden en Rotterdam is natuurlijk moderne hoogbouwstad #1 van NL. Het was ook natuurlijk een lange tijd de enige stad met hoogbouw in NL. Maar ik vind wel dat Amsterdam (en ook den Haag) de laatste pakweg 10 jaar het goed doet qua architectuur en hoogbouw. Er is een mooie rand van moderne architectuur aan het ontstaan rond het centrum. Bijv de zuidas, hoewel niet ontzettend hoog, begint steeds meer een indrukwekkend bos aan mooie gebouwen te worden. Wel met je eens dat het tempo bij overhoek omhoog moet maar daar lijkt nu ook te gebeuren.
*toren hoge gebouwen* tsss... Haha. Het hoogste gebouw in Rotterdam is maar 160 meter, maar er komt een toren die 220 meter hoog gaat worden en die word dit jaar gebouwd!

Zo mooi om er stil van te worden. Om met de Hermes House band te spreken : "Rotterdam de aller mooiste rot stad die er is"
I lived in this city for more than a year. I can't even find the words to express how much I miss Rotterdam. I also met the love of my life here.

I was studying thanks to a scholarship from the govt of Ecuador. Life here is quite good, despite some political crisis that happens from time to time.

Ik ben niet in Rotterdam geboren maar mijn ouders wel. We gingen er altijd heen op bezoek bij familie. Mijn vader was zo trots op die stad. Ik weet nu nog precies welke gebouwen er al stonden, die laatste keer dat ik er samen met hem was. Elke keer als ik er kom dan loopt hij met me mee. Mijn vader overleed in 1997 aan de gevolgen van asbest wat hij bij de RDM had opgelopen. Zijn liefde voor die eigenzinnige stad is zijn mooiste erfenis aan mij geweest.

I live in a town which is a half hour drive from rotterdam,i am there 2, 3 times a week just to chill,eat n dine,shop and hangout.
This never bores as im been doing this 20 years or so.
I should actually move there some time,right in the city center,thats my dream.
But this is ok for the moment.

Prachtig gefilmd!! Krijg ik weer heimwee van.... Ben geboren en getogen Rotterdamse, maar na 52 jaar werd het mij toch te druk. Kom wel heel graag weer terug. En natuurlijk heeft ook Rotjeknor zijn minder mooie plekken en problemen. Maar zoals je hier ziet is er toch veel prachtigs te beleven!!

Geweldige beelden van deze geweldige stad. Ondanks ik al mijn hele leven in Rotterdam woon, verveeld het nooit. Elke dag na schooltijd ga ik de mooiste plekken van de stad bezoeken. Ik ben er ook altijd bij als er een gebeurtenis is. Zoals de wereldhavendagen, de opening van de Markthal en de komst van de Oases of the Seas in Rotterdam.
I live about 10mins outside NYC so the architecture is weird too me. But damn it's a beautiful city I'd love too visit or live there. Great video.

I studied in Rotterdam 6 months by Erasmus exchange program! It was really so cool and Rotterdam is always in my heart! And the video is great. After watching it i have a nostalgia!

Rotterdam is de stam waar ik woon, leef en werk. Als ik dit soort beelden zie krijg ik een week gevoel in mijn buik. vroeger was thuiskomen de torens van Marconiplein zien, als ik nu over de Brieenoord rij en ik zie de skylijn dan ben ik thuis. Rotterdam is mijn thuis.

Hi Mr van Vuuren, it is difficult to explain how much of a soul connection I have with this video. Life can be really hard here in South Africa, I remember slipping into the most wonderful haze of peace while walking around in Rotterdam on holiday last year. There is a magical draw to your country and Rotterdam, specifically, and you certainly have captured it. If I can go back and stop my ancestors from leaving in the first place I would!! As a Nederlander, Rotterdam feels completely alien to me. The only thing that reminds me that I am still in my home country when walking through the ugly streets of Rotterdam is the weather!
@@charlesponzi9608 Fortunately, everyone has their own view on this. I think that as a Dutch person it feels different to be in the Netherlands anyway. But I can imagine that people from abroad find the Netherlands and Rotterdam very impressive. Nevertheless: I am also from the Netherlands and I think Rotterdam is a great city.

I left Rotterdam for living & working in the USA 7 years ago, after living there for the first 40 years of my life and I still consider it *my* hometown. No place in the world will ever be as awesomely beautiful as Rotterdam. I am also very much looking forward to visiting Rotterdam for a couple of days in September 2015.

It was very nostalgic to see this video. I was born there and we left for America in 1962.
Vroeger was ook nooit zo onder de indruk van de stad waar ik vlakbij woon. Maar nu ik er toch vaker langskom en er gisteren ook zo'n 150 foto's geschoten heb krijgt 'ie toch wel een specialer plekje. :)
Going back to Rotterdam in 3 weeks. Visited for the first time with my parents in 1983 when I was 11 and have been (almost) every year since then... i'm now 44.
Can't tell you how comfortable I feel when i'm there, it's like my 'second home'. You're very lucky to live in such a great city!

I've been in York , but that was so long ago ,i can't really remember how it looked , probably because intoxication was more the rule those days , and my English friends were not about to stop this behavior.
+Peet Yes you're right, England is only 'round the corner'. It's very easy to get over there too from Leeds Bradford to Schiphol and then one of your fantastic trains down to Rotterdam :)

Lutti Limburg there is too much space everyone is visiting Amsterdam that is why its so crowded there (if you go on an friday or saturday than it is not empty)

I've been living in Rott back in 2014 for a month and I love the city very much, its modern architecture is very beautiful and unique. I still remember how I amazed by seeing some unique buildings like central station, cubic & pencil house etc. Too bad markthal was still under construction at that time. By watching this video I live up again my ultimate dream to pursuit master degree in Erasmus MC and living in Rott. Thanks

Prachtig, echt oprecht trots op deze stad. Amsterdam (of 020) heeft natuurlijk ook wel wat met die grachtjes en pandjes, en zo heeft elke stad wel weer wat, maar Rotterdam... Geniale balans tussen oud en nieuw, schitterende architectuur en mooi gelegen met de maas in het midden en dan de wilhelminapier, het noordereiland, kralingsebos etc. etc.
