They weren't trying to sound like Hatebreed. More of a classic NYHC and Oi influence but harder. They also sound very Connecticut. Going to punk and HC shows in that era is was impossible to not see Broken, pist, react, malachi krunch, boiling man etc and they all had a certain sound in common (shared members) that was very influential locally
