  • So I broke the glass lens on my Insta 360 camera. For around $45 bucks I found you can replace it yourself.

    The specks of dust are better than a huge ass crack or deep scratch, thanks man I really appreciate that

      Hope it helps.. Oddly enough, it's gotten better over time. Maybe the spec of dust that was on the lens eventually settled to the bottom, but the video looks great now. Definitely worth a try and keeping the camera alive instead of buying a new one!!

    It happens to the best of us. I was taking a 360 in a stone quarry while it was on a tripod and one small gust of wind threw the hole thing down and cracked the lens. Tried buffering it but also appears under the glass annoyingly. Not sure if I have the luck and skills to do what you did though.

    Amazing good results for grinding it apart, its amazing you didnt have must more dust related problems, A can of dust off would probably come out perfect. Thanks for the video!

      Thanks. I could have done a better job with the install and hindsight is 20/20. I can of air definitely is a good idea!

    Awesome job at fixing the thing. I would've left those specks of dust too just like you did.

      Thanks. Honestly I could barely even see them anymore. I don't know if they faded over time or what, but you can't see them unless specifically looking for them. I'm happy! Thanks for watching and commenting

    wouldn't it of helped using one of the sticky sheet things you get with phone covers to pick up any dust left on the lens, of is it on the new lens you put on, either way i heard it's best to do it in a bathroom which is sort of steamy

      That's actually a really good tip. I would definitely recommend trying that and will keep it in mind if/when it happens again

    Great job repairing: thoughts out loud. heating up the body to remove the lens if not glued on.. and before placing on to have turned on and viewed, something we didnot thinkk of at the moment. I am still holding off on an X3 , had an X2. here is a question, can you find a way to tether on the bottom, or glue a down a diy mount prevent vibration off. Just saying good luck and enjoyed the repair, should be helpful to others.

      Thanks. I've seen others hear up the body but it didn't really seem to help. I haven't seen anyone remove the lens without having to break it. But then again this was my first try so it was all trial and error. Great idea about making a more permanent mount for it. I may do something like that. Thanks for watching and commenting

      @@Mudslidex1 if to get off the modified lens heat up to loosen, was what I was trying to say, if a glue you like to use try foam-tack jb robenson at Hobby lobby, what is pretty good but not as fast in tacking is gorilla clear, they can be removed and water resistant good luck.

    Is it still more or less waterprove? I dont mean diving but like against rain and snow.

    • @Mudslidex1
      @Mudslidex1  29 днів тому

      Honestly I'm not sure. It might be for stuff like rain, and I did have it while riding in the rain recently and it was fine. But I wouldn't submerge it in water

    This must be an x2? Display looks mush smaller than what I am considering buying, wonder if the lens comes off the same way.

    • @Mudslidex1
      @Mudslidex1  6 місяців тому

      Yes this is the OneX2, the X3 has the larger screen. I believe it's the same lens though. Not 100% but from what I've been reading, many say the same lens fits

    Lol I see you edited out the part where you slipped with the rotary tool and marred up the camera.

      LOL. Oh yeah. This entire process was all trial and error. The camera was beat up to begin with so I figured I'd throw whatever I can at it to get it back working!!
