Greg was one of the guys back in the golden days that always did great mic rants, and always busted his ass to give everyone a good show. Seeing him now, he seems like a really nice guy. He looks healthy and I'm glad to see some attention being paid to him. He deserves it. He's also an excellent storyteller, and has an interesting and honest outlook from his time in the business. Thanks for all the great matches Greg.✌
Does anyone remember the WF thumb wrestlers? We had quite a few championship matches with the school bus seat serving as the wring with those back in the day and quite a few wrenched, sore thumbs to show for it. I still remember one kid's 'Iron Sheik' figure getting tossed out the bus window onto the top of the bus while moving that made him start crying. The bus driver stopped in the middle of the road until we got it back with a broom he had.
My brother and I collected the 1st generation Star Wars figures when we were kids, the ones that came out right after A New Hope first hit theaters. We played with them until the arms fell off, some got lost in the back yard, some got eaten by our dog. all of them lost long ago. Every once in awhile I'll stop by come collectibles shop or convention and see those exact same figurines selling for hundreds of dollars! If I only knew then what I do now... I still would have played with them until the arms fell off, but I would have bought a second one stored and intact in the original packaging and waiting for my retirement!
You would be able to retire with a few thousand dollars then... probably couldn't live off the money for a single year. This Greg Valentine figure wasn't officially released that's why it's worth a couple of thousand dollars.
When you threw an original X-Wing and Tie Fighter across the room, followed by a Millennium Falcon…. What I would have given to have them now in original packaging
in the late 70s and early 80s i was a kid playing with action figures, in 1990 i graduated high school and immediately started collecting action figures i have thousands of figures now. if i sold all those figures i would not have any amount of money that would change my life, everyone and there dog these days have seen a story or 2 on their local news or in a magazine about some action figure selling or being worth a ton of money and now everyone beats themselves up over getting rid of their childhood toys. trust me if you still had your childhood toys you would not be able to retire off of them or anything. sometimes there are figures that are pretty valuable but those are super rare and generally were not commercially available or were some sort of mistake that quickly got recalled, usually they are some sort of prototype that never actually got released. either way when you go into some over priced comic store or something and see the figure you had as a kid sitting in the display case marked $200 dont go freaking out, thats probably a perfect still carded figure first of all, second of all just because it is marked that high doesnt mean anyone is actually going to buy it which is why it is sitting there in the first place.
Yeah. U gotta be patient if ur gonna start collecting. And know ur limit! I'd go cray cray crazy. Id start collecting everything, star wars toothbrushes or shampoo bottles ,band aid boxes with Yoda in it ,or whatever. It's fun, but be careful, specially if u have an addictive personality

@@michaelmohrle1773I used to collect toys in the box as a teen and it’s disheartening to go online and see a lot of them haven’t climbed in value in 20 years especially with inflation. That ship unfortunately sailed when everyone else decided to hold onto them and they make too many.
Half of those Hasbro figures I owned needed to have limbs superglued back on eventually. Those were not the most durable toys. My Davey Boy Smith figure had a deformed ankle because he was left in the car with the sun shining on him, and the plastic on his foot melted and then hardened again.

To be fair, the destruction was part of the storyline. Much like when Mr Perfect took a hammer to the WWF Championship belt after Hogan's count-out loss to The Genius and they "stole" the belt from ringside. But yeah, Tito has said in more recent interviews that he kicks himself for throwing the green IC belt in the trash (he never mentioned his wife doing it).
@@legionarybooks13 yeah, i understand when it's part of the show BUT when tito threw it in the trash that's what i'm talking about, that thing is worth a fortune now
They wouldn't give him the one while he was at the signing (probably cause it was the only one at the time), later, after they went into production, Hasbro sent him one, that's the one that got eaten.

Rhythm & Blues was such a terrible gimmick. Vince McMahon thought that he'd gotten all the mileage he could from Greg Valentine and Honkytonk Man as singles competitors. So, he gave them that ridiculous gimmick.
Only lasted a few months that's why that Rhythm & Blues Hammer never got mass production ... a regular Greg "The Hammer" Valentine was released though.
