I know it is quickly becoming an archaic art, but as a pool professional, I say it is imperative that we keep this knowledge and kudos to you for doing it your self rather than swallowing the big bill. My boss is the best in town and I'm glad to follow in his footsteps. Here I am taking time out of work during a sand storm learning on my own how to change out these wires.

My heater is in much worse condition. There is debris everywhere but I will give it a try, Great job, so glad that there are other people not taking the "professionals" word for it and doing it themselves. Kudos!

Great video, thank you for sharing. It allowed me to verify two connections that I wasn’t sure about after they got disconnected before I could record them. I wasn’t sure about the yellow and yellow/white wire going to the gas valve in the back. The labels are identical but one wire is solid yellow and one is yellow with a white stripe. I have the striped wire closest to the on/off switch which appears to work (in case anyone pulls them before noticing it like I did).

Thanks for doing this. Its my first time working on this heater and I was able to identify the transformer easily after watching. The 24v side was bad, verified by no ohms. I had no LED lights on the panel and am waiting on the new transformer. Hopefully it will solve the problem.

Great video. I got lucky I guess. Went to fire up my Mastertemp 125 only to find that Chipmunks had lived in there all winter. Only a few wires were chewed and I could easily repair them.

I've got same/similar problem and same heater. With mine the rodents only chewed-off two wires. So rather than replace the whole wiring harness I'd prefer to repair just those two wires. The problem is finding where those tow particular wires lead to. It's the two wires that appear to lead outside of the main unit. You can see them handled briefly at 9:49 in this video.

Replace the heater. Easy install and more mark up value

Next time, make sure you don't touch the ignitor itself. Your oils can create hot spots on it, which shortens its life.

No sediment trap on the gas inlet! Use smaller spade crimps on your fireman's wires, red for 22 ga

Need to install fine wire mesh over all areas where rodents can get in. I don't know why they have big openings where rats can get in and they like to chew on wires??
