Crow didn't actually "wish to revive Cayde." Crow wished that he could apologize to Cayde. That's important for the fine print. See, if Crow had directly wished to bring Cayde back to life, the twist would have been a monkey's paw, probably harmful. But he didn't wish for that exactly... The Ahamkara twist is that Riven granted Crow's wish for the chance to apologize... By reviving Cayde back from the dead, even though that's not what he asked for. I feel like this might be Riven's final apology to Crow/Uldren, after having reflected on herself, her mate Taranis, and Mara.
This is what I'm thinking. I already had a seeking suspicion from that lore tab but now this cutscene just confirms that he now has the chance to atone for those sins
@@Anonymys43 Would love if Bungie added that to the hitbox as a perk. For throwing knives that hit the weapon hand of an enemy combatant lowering their damage output temporarily. So it reflects the Hunters with actual expertise in their knife skills.

I think it could be argued that, if i spent 5 (6?) years in a prison disguised as paradise, and then a giant triangle shaped hole in reality tore open, i’d stay decently nearby to make sure that if anything that’s a threat comes out, it doesn’t stay a threat for long.
chances are Cayde has only been "awake" for a few months at most, the earliest being around the beginning of the Season of the Wish, as we got the lore for Unforeseen Consequences ship then.
@@ActuallyNTiX i would agree with this, if it wasn’t for the FS trailers. The way cayde words things sounds like he’s been there for long enough that he knows what the traveler looked like before the witness cracked it open like a can. So a bare minimum of over a year.
@@DeathDragon1730 I see where you're going, however that's not how I interpreted his speeches in the trailers. It seemed to me that Cayde only assumed he was in the Traveler, and while he was correct, he never really had confirmation. Also, Cayde made mention of how he "could've believed it was paradise." From the looks of things, it practically IS paradise, and the only thing NOT making it paradise is the Witness's reshaping, which is quite palpable due to how it just doesn't fit in with any other portion of the landscape. The way I see it, Cayde has been awake since Crow made the wish back towards the beginning of the season, and since then, Cayde's believed himself to be stuck for months in a paradise that's being corrupted like a blight. I don't think Cayde needs to know what the Traveler had to have looked like beforehand to know that something is seriously wrong with the place. But again, I think your theory is understandable, however I think the Unforeseen Consequences ship lore is the smoking gun here on how Cayde is alive.
@@ActuallyNTiX caught myself up on the ships lore, and yeah, i think you’re right. Though this brings up the question of how the monkey paw will curl. It could be that he’s in the traveler and that’s it, but there’s almost certainly going to be something else.
@@DeathDragon1730 Riven was generous enough to grant two wishes, although whether it was out of generosity or because she wanted to feed on Crow one more time (knowing what Uldren did before, leading to his corruption, and thus the events of Forsaken), I suppose it remains to be seen. If Riven was truly being "generous" amidst her disguise as Mara (just like how Forsaken had Uldren be deceived by a Mara-disguised Riven), then it's possible she was feeding off of the fact that Cayde didn't mean he expected to bring Crow back to life. There might not actually be a cost to his unintended wish, this whole past season we have been getting more and more friendly (I say that VERY loosely) with Riven and it could be possible that she while looking back at her memories with Taranis she could have chosen to fulfill the unintended wish with no cost like how Taranis used to. And also Crow was the most compassionate of all the characters this season towards Riven (relatively speaking) so Riven may have saw how sincere Crow was about what he did as Uldren and granted the wish without any cost because of what we and Crow did for her by retrieving her eggs.

Its likely cayde is back with no strings attached. Riven regretted what she did to uldren and as an act of kindness likely granted his wish without exceptions. She is already dead after all, and we helped her fulfill her only last request. We already know the ahamkara can act without malice if they choose thanks to tanaris but it slowly starves them to do so, but riven is dead, she doesnt need food.
I think him wishing to tell him “he shouldn’t have” wasn’t actually bringing him back but riven granting him safe passage though because he was always there.
I feel like it would have been hilarious and on-brand for Cayde once he saw Glint that he just instantly shot Crow. Just like "Oh you're a Guardian now! Means I don't have to feel guilty about this." And then he just tells Glint "I think I was owed that one."
We’ve seen a cutscene of Crow talking to Mara about mourning him..? When?? Also remember there doesn’t always *have* to be a cost with Wish magic. Taranis as we learned didn’t exact a price from those who wished with him at “cost to himself” seeing as Riven is already gone and we helped her brood live on, I can see her granting a selfless wish for Crow. Especially seeing as it’s a wish tied to something she was forced to do to him via Savathun
To answer your question cross, the wish was specifically a chance to say he is sorry. So I think them meeting is built in. He didn’t just wish for Cayde to come back, he wished for the chance encounter that he would have the opportunity to say he’s sorry. Now crow hasn’t said this yet and I’m worried that when he does tell Cayde he’s sorry that Cayde will pass on.
When I saw the black heart it bring lots of memories ,when we only had ark and void ,when we would wait for xur to get three of coins and grind for exotics by killing the yellow ones and repeat and repeat 😢,now here I am without playing destiny for 2 years ,having a 2 year old and newborn it just made me cry a little ,but need to see the end of this I have to finish and why my guardian was brought back to life
The thing with the wish to bring back Cayde could also be Riven honoring her mates style of granting wishes, being selfless etc. But instead of crow making thwle wish, she makes her own wish in Crows place to bring back Cayde, as she is dead already so it killing her eventually means nothing when shes only "alive" temporarily. Food for thought
I am SO ready for Cayde and Crow to be besties. 😂 Crow is my dude. The call back to that Forsaken shot and the same shot with Crow and Zavala too… 👌🏻❤️.
Its cutscenes like that that still give me hope for the future of the Destiny franchise. Things are definitely looking up now from a few months ago. Im getting the feeling The Final Shape is going to be HUGE, like the biggest (player count wise) in the franchise's history HUGE. something tells me Bungie will stick the landing this time.
One more thing I think you missed. Cayde probably saw the portal open, but not what came out of it. So he might’ve thought, “Let’s just see what comes out of it, and whatever does, get ready for whatever.” And when he say Crow, for all we know, in Cayde’s eyes, his death was only moments ago so he thinks he’s fighting Ulrin. But that’s my theory.😅

Crow attempting to fan fire Hawkmoon(Glad he had it since it's canonically his) like it was Last Word in a vein attempt to build Paracausal Stacks for the last shot. I'm sure he missed every shot though. lol
I think Riven made a good wish for once, like Taranis provided. We’ve helped her so much with finding children and the truth about Taranis’ demise. She probably thought maybe 1 good wish wouldn’t hurt her and as a thank you to the guardians.

Everyone talking about Cayde and Crow, but that is some of the best voice acting Osiris's VA has done in Destiny. Brilliant.
Seeing cross happy makes me happy
The cutscene was a nice surprise.
Man doing this mission made me feel like I was back in 2014 and the feeling I got from it was a feeling I thought was lost for destiny long ago
Witness cooking up some funky shit with all that traveler light bursts
do we not remember bungie literally saying "everything inside the traveller is a manifestation of our memories"? CAYDE IS A MEMORY OF CROW'S
It's possible Cayde thought some enemy was coming through. After all, he's seen the Witness cause that smoke in the background
Crazy how Cross was foreshadowing the landscape after Final Shape… almost like he knows something 🤔🧐🤨
Man i was jumping from my chair doing this mission 😂
“How’s your sister?”
Also Hawkmoon RPM going from 140 to 225
Rapid fire hawkmoon les gooo
Lover this short mission, probably the best build up to am event I've ever seen, going back to the black garden to destroy the black heart again, then seeing cayde again, I'm ready for the final shape
This is what I was talking about is there going to be 1 final mission to help connect marra to her brother to make a bridge and they didn’t disappoint thank god my question has been answered.
this is it one final wait for one final push, good luck to all in the coming battle.
Cayde went full on "FLINT LOCKWOOD!!!"
The fact that cayde has memory of what happened last is incredible
At the last radio message… there are three! Drifter and Saladin talk and so does the leviathan! Just activate and stand and listen after Osiris and Saint talk.
Saint and Osiris having that sweet couple moment kinda makes me feel like one of them might die. The really hope not but that “I love you” felt like a goodbye
I hope it’s Osiris. Dude has done his part and he doesn’t have a ghost, it’s just the logical choice. It would suck to lose Saint
@@catalan500_8 I can see Osiris dying to protect saint in the last city fr.
@@catalan500_8he can use strand though. He might be mortal still but with strand he has a lot of power back. Who knows he might be capable of stasis as well.
@@Retrophoenix- yea but the point is he doesn’t have a ghost. Powers or not he can’t come back to life
@@KodexKat neither can cloudstriders and they probably rival guardians in power. I know Osiris isn't like that but he can still definitely put up a fight and carries a gun like he helped us at the start of lightfall.
Anyone else immediately recognized the sound of Ace of Spades?
seeing the black garden and the cutscene put a huge smile on my face
almost started crying tbh
Its likely cayde is back with no strings attached. Riven regretted what she did to uldren and as an act of kindness likely granted his wish without exceptions. She is already dead after all, and we helped her fulfill her only last request. We already know the ahamkara can act without malice if they choose thanks to tanaris but it slowly starves them to do so, but riven is dead, she doesnt need food.
I just realized the mission name is closer to the heart. Which is a rush song. It Could be that someone at Bungie likes the band.
Sailing into destiny...
Bungie is big into rock music so it makes sense.
i love how fast we go from locked in godslayer's to popcorn eating movie watchers. God i love destiny's cutscenes
"You died"
"Right back atcha buckaroo"
I think him wishing to tell him “he shouldn’t have” wasn’t actually bringing him back but riven granting him safe passage though because he was always there.
I feel like it would have been hilarious and on-brand for Cayde once he saw Glint that he just instantly shot Crow. Just like "Oh you're a Guardian now! Means I don't have to feel guilty about this." And then he just tells Glint "I think I was owed that one."
I love that Cayde was ON SIGHT with Crow
Honestly, that part with Osiris and Saint.... that's a huge fricking death flag, I hope none of those two dies.....
This cutscene went harder than needed
Is it just me or does Osiris just say a whole lot of "blah?"
He’s a lore nerd.
These cutscenes are just so good! We need a damn show already Bungie!
Cayde saw Crow and said: *"IT'S ON SIGHT!"*
"I don't have to call you Prince, do I...?"
"It's Princess"
I loved how nostalgic this mission was I mean even destroying the portals was something I haven't done since d1.
When I saw the black heart it bring lots of memories ,when we only had ark and void ,when we would wait for xur to get three of coins and grind for exotics by killing the yellow ones and repeat and repeat 😢,now here I am without playing destiny for 2 years ,having a 2 year old and newborn it just made me cry a little ,but need to see the end of this I have to finish and why my guardian was brought back to life
I love that sidearm it's legit exotic worthy. I loved seeing Cayde forgive crow.
I wonder how does cayde know crow remembers his past life "can't call you prince anymore huh"
I am SO ready for Cayde and Crow to be besties. 😂 Crow is my dude. The call back to that Forsaken shot and the same shot with Crow and Zavala too… 👌🏻❤️.
So good. Cayde has a new roll of AOS and i wonder if we'll outfit a Ships drive like in D1 to follow Crow. Osiris being confident and sweet 👏👌
Your brain is freakishly great. Love your dialogue and interpretations, what could be, what may be etc. Awesome. Thanks for all the content dude. All the best and looking forward to the rest. 👍🇬🇧✌️
Saw someone else comment on another video of the Cayde vs Crow cutscene that it would have been a way better moment if we hadn't seen Cayde in the Final Shape teaser, and i can't help but agree. Still a really good moment and awesome cutscene
Crow attempting to fan fire Hawkmoon(Glad he had it since it's canonically his) like it was Last Word in a vein attempt to build Paracausal Stacks for the last shot. I'm sure he missed every shot though. lol
*Cayde literally existing on screen:
Me Stoick asf: YOURE AS BEAUTIFUL AS THE THE DAY I LOST YOU 🥹🥹
I think Riven made a good wish for once, like Taranis provided. We’ve helped her so much with finding children and the truth about Taranis’ demise. She probably thought maybe 1 good wish wouldn’t hurt her and as a thank you to the guardians.
gotta say hearing the stories of guardians fighting pales in comparison to actually seeing it
Chaos cannot be contained.
What an ending what a cutscene 😳
I hope Byf is cooking something great for us 🤭
