Damn I just now realized the grenade launcher and Ifrit is pretty gangster. He staggers whenever you hit him with those weapons. But if you used Alastor and Ebony and Ivory; the battle can take a really long time. Good job bro. 👍
His sword hula hoop belt attack is insane. He just has to get near dante and you're stun locked to death! Can't jump. Can't pause to heal. Just watch your health disappear. Walk up the stairs seems to have worked for you though. I'm going to give that a try. Thanks man!

No, that's cannot be a convenience. I've played this boss several times on DMD and mostly dying but managed somehow to defeat him 3 times. After watching these kind of videos I found out some... difficulties. 1. When I was fighting Nelo Angelo, he was teleporting literally every attack even during the stun 2. His stun is shorter than in videos, you can proceed a whole Ifrit combo and you still can eacape, meanwhile me have no time even to charge a single hit before he starts to attack again 3. In these 4 minutes of fighting he used mirage blades once and performed only 2 different abilities, meanwhile mine one spams it each 15-20 seconds and won't go down even after 5 different attacks or if he will - he will cover himself with them 4. God damn I have so poor damage dealed, a simple punch here hits him harder than mine inferno (sometimes I haven't even seen his HP bar dropping down) 5. Still attacking me even if I use Kick 13 on his "shield" 6. That guy became a teleporting mirage blades sicko when his hp dropped to 40-50% and started to rush and spam meteors like hell, my camera even became seppuku and stopped tracking him so I was supposed to fighting without a single acknowledge of his damn location. What the fuсk is happened to my game? DMC 3 is not better at it because every boss is ok, BUT NOT VERGIL. He's just tricking away from me even for 15 minutes so I have to just shoot him like oh my god what a dumb AI, he doesn't even trying to attack me, only running.
You've got to stay as close as possible to him to avoid this, im looking for a strategy to beat him myself, just got to him last night and got my ass handed to me. I've noticed in the footage though, staying close breaks him from constantly staying in the air
If you look closely, those aren't Force/Mirage Edges, just copies of his greatsword. It's also difficult to guess Nelo is Dante's brother at first since many copies of DMC1 has no subtitles and terrible sound mixing, so you can barely hear Trish in the beginning over the loud BGM

Fighting the fixed cameras in this stage makes the boss fight 10x harder
Fixed camera's is the bosses stage 2.
I love this boss because you can't bully him like you do with the actual vergil in dmc5

Well you can’t bully him cause you don’t have sillier weapons and style switching
you can actually stunlovk him forever with a glitch lol
You can bully him too and you don't even need to be good at the game to loop him unlike vergil
I'd say Vergil in DMC3 is best. Because he is the hardest to bully.

you have no idea how bad it is on the us ps2 release, it's basically a one to two shot on dmd even on normal it's closer to 3 shot

this fight is a mess mechanically, half the time the camera is tweaking and the other half you can't cancel out of attacks

Grenade Launcher is great to regain DT energy. It's mostly the reason why I use it. (Sorry for the late response)
the alastor actually does more damage if for whatever reason you don't own upgrades. If you do have upgrades than ifrit is better 9 times out of 10

comparing the others devil may cry this is the most difficult of all, that difficulty should be called hell
This fight and Mundus on DMD still gives me PTSD
others are harder but this game has the hardest boss of the series Mundus

Just defeated him on my first PS2 run. The camera angle of this game has been dogshit so far. I ended up using 2 holy water and killed him, no regret.

You should try fighting Lingering Will in Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix for another difficult boss in gaming.
So... If you get close to him when he goes up and throws you the the swords, he will fall to the ground?
During the main part of the fight yes. But not during the attack where he stays up there throwing sword AND blue fireballs when he is almost dead.
