Looks like a good product. 2" level is all you need on a daily driver IMO. Excellent aesthetics and 33" capability.
If everyone watching don’t install the bolts like he did make them face the ground I hit a pothole and the extra thread on the bolt broke my cv axle
I noticed that too and was wondering what the comments say, great job guy. Comments saved my life again 👍
I just bought those with the n3 shocks as well. I'm looking forward to getting it installed. Tires will have to wait as I'm not really willing to toss out a set that have only been on for 2 years. And I'm calling bs on the strut install and UCA just popping loose.
Just installed these on my 2014 Sierra (4wd). I only loosened the tie rod end and sway bar end link to provide a little more play. You can remove and reinstall the struts without taking everything else apart. HOWEVER, you will have a harder time as you will have to force the old strut out and the new one in. I'm 6'2, 235lbs and could not do it with just a pry bar as some suggest. Maybe if it was on a lift rather than in my driveway I could have gotten a better angle and leverage. Ultimately, I ended up jacking up the bottom of the strut just a bit while pounding out the lower mounting bracket with a 2-3' piece of 1" steel pipe. To install, I jacked up the bottom of the strut and used a pry bar to pop bracket into place. If you don't want to muscle it out and in the way I did, then spend the extra time to disconnect everything. At the end of the day, this is a nice ride improvement over the Rancho strut and spacer puck I had.
How about a lowering video? Y'all sell the BellTech 2/3 drop kit, which seems affordable & easy compared to a rear flip kit w/ frame notching, etc
Nice video, very good explanation!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching! -Zach
Why did you take the upper control arm & tie Rod off ? I just installed my RS9000 XL and used a pry bar with maybe 30 lbs of force & no problems at all !
Can I use the adjustable rear rough county shocks in my 2022 Z71 with no lift basically no lift ?
I'm adding a light duty Boss snow plow to my 2016 1500. Will this kit be a good choice over the factory spring strut?
I have a 6 inch knuckle lift kit can I replace the factory struts with these 2 inch ones to raise the front 2 inches?
I have a 3 inch motofab front spacer currently on my 2018 chevy silverado. I will be replacing stock struts with the 2 inch rc loaded struts. Basically my question is could I put that 3 inch spacer on that new strut without hurting anything. I do have aftermarket uca fyi. Or should I put the inch and half spacers to get 3.5 inch lift. Thank you for your time.
Does the sway bar inlink have to come off? Can you conduct the process without this procedure?!
Just install the exact same lift a on my 15 Silverado and it seems to me like the front it sitting higher than my rear now. Does this need some break-in time to settle?
This install is the same for a 2013 GMC Sierra?
Im pretty sure you don't have to remove all that to install. Maybe the sway links
will this effect being able to alignment?
What footpounds are we suppose to torque then
Very clean and focused video. Thanks. Will be installing next weekend on 2018 canyon. I do not have an impact wrench or air compressor. Will a cordless handle the tough stuff (probably not huh?) .
I've got a couple Milwaukee M18 cordless impacts. They will take off most stuff. If you have a good quality one you're good to go. I'm installing mine over the weekend. I'm skipping juijtsu to do it.
Breaker bar or extendable ratchet handle. Alternatively, cordless impact drivers (Ryobi, Milwaukee, Ridgid, etc) are coming down in price and work great for things like this.
Question, does this lift recommend a new upper control arm to correct any angles or is the stock control arm fine?
Nope 2 inches and below you don’t need new ones I have the same kit
@@dantheisen1227 how is the ride quality? I have the same kit in route to me.
...And adjust your headlights when you're done.
Haha yup so true
I was going to say clean and paint the rusty parts of the truck as well. in addition to the headlights.
Would you suggest changing uca’s for angles? If so what manufactures rough country doesn’t have for An 18 Silverado
I've spoken to a few companies including Rough Country and the UCA isn't necessarily needed at this height. You can still use a factory UCA at 2.5" but beyond that you're going to need to upgrade the UCA and rims as they will potentially not work with the modified geometry.
Yo to anyone installing !! Put some lube on ball joints before you hammer. It helps !
do 275 70 18s fit?
I currently have the 2" lifted struts installed on my truck as well as 2" blocks in the rear. I want to add an additional 2" spacer to the front. Am i able to stack a spacer above the strut like a normal one? of course id need new control arms.
Online it says no, but it you get new control arms I'd say go for it!
I wouldn’t. Get lift spindles.
I need help the top bolts of the strut do not line up the original bolts on top are 4 inches away from eachother and the new one is 4 1/4 away so it’s not lining up
What did you end up doing?
Could you theoretically put a 1 inch block on top of the new strut to make it a 3 inch leveling kit and get new control arms?
You could - but we'd recommmend finding a strut that lifts your truck 3 inches by itself to avoid the spacer all together! -Zach
The truck still looks slanted down a little bit or is my eyes ? I want it to be completely stock level with my rear with my 2008 Silverado. So will I have to go 2.5 front leveling kit ? Thanks in advance
2.5" will do it but you're probably wanting to do an LCA upgrade to help with suspension geometry. anything over 2" starts to put ball joints into a bad position and will wear them out faster.
You want it to squat when you have a trailer on?
I just replaced my front struts used factory coil springs can they be put in backwards?
You could potentially install the spring upside down, but it's unlikely as it would give you issues. Give our tech line a call if you need to troubleshoot. --> 1-888-706-1096
How much installed?
Do you recommend upgrading the upper control arms for a better Angle
If you have room in your budget, I would recommend it! -Zach
How do you keep the uca ball joints from spinning?
In my previous experiences, there should be a couple flats under the boot that you can put a wrench on, or an external torx on the end of the stud.
Not me being jealous of how easy that uca popped off
These trucks are taken apart and put back together just a few times. 😉 -Zach
This may sound stupid, but how do i make sure they are tightened to the correct torque spec?
We recommend having a torque wrench on hand and the factory/rough country torque specs!
I bought and had this installed on my 2017 and the front is still lower then the back, what else should I do.
You need a 2.5 to fully level the silverado. A 2" will have a little rake for towing purposes.
How is he getting that ball joint i cant get mine to break at all and I have NO RUST
I’m running into the same issue now. How did you break yours?
Pickle fork!
With factory 20’s on 2014 Silverado, how big of a tire could i go with?
20s? Do you mean 31s?
So will a 33/12.50r18 fit?
Yes , I myself have RS9000 quick lift w/35” SST’s
Could you have done it without disassembling the control arm,end link and tie rod? Slipping it straight down the middle ?
No i tried. I am doing it at this very moment the lowrr arm has to drop. I thought the same thing too when I originally tLked to their representatives before ordering the part
Heads up that first 15mm is going to be on there tight if you dont have the right impact. Id recommend soending the $300 at home depot on a milwaukee if it hasnt ever been touched before. I am doing this on a truck that has zero rust (central texas) and that nut is on tight
Burt reynolds yes it can be done. I’ve done it twice with mine
Yeah you can just did mine if you need some wiggle room just loosen your sway bar links so the lower control arm comes down a little and it makes it easier to get the old struts out
pry bar will be helpful
It’s so easy with a lift. Currently doing this on gravel and dirt. This blows ! Horrible horrible ! Still stuck will update
Best of luck wrapping up your install! -Zach
doesn't look like splitting the upper ball joint was needed....
I installed these on my 2020 silverado and now one side of the truck is sitting about 3/4" lower on one side. Any idea what the issue could be?
It could be a suspension lean, similar to the Toyota Tacoma lean.
Some set ups are more noticablethan others. On my Tacoma, I personally added a small spacer onto the driver side coilover to even it out more.
Just did this exact kit, god damn did those UCA ball joints spin
How do you like it?
@@tonyderks9172 I like it a lot, puts it a the perfect height in my opinion
@johnboy7417 does it change the angles of the ballpoint? I live in michigan and go to the sand dunes alot
I have a 2011 silverado 1500. I wanna do the 2’ front strut, for the Rear how much do i lift?
@AmericanTrucks
Whatever you want, or nothing.
I got a 2.5in level on my 2018 z71 im running 35s no rub
Not even at full turn?
I know this is a old post but does your 2018 z71 sit level
@@rogerjohnson4998 just slightly higher in the front you can barley notice it
@@saturnsl21999 thanks for your Reply
These struts on bilstein???
They have them but they are super expensive.
2” level but don’t set level???? How’s that make sense
Your factory rake is 2.5 to 3", so a 2" kit won't make it "level", it's just called a leveling kit because it makes it more level. Besides, do you want your truck to squat when you have a trailer on it or weight in the bed? Likely not, and that's why they put rakes on them.
Should really undo the axle nut also your putting a lot of stress on it and looks like it actually separated…other wise not bad work
It does look like the axle is in a less than optimal position.
Im confused why the uca, bar links, and the tie rod was removed from the knuckle? 😅🤣
You can literally easily do this job by just removing the strut and replacing. Only thing you gotta take off is the wheel
I remove the strut without all the process of removing the tie rod ends and the sway links. I put in the new strut but the bottom control arm sits higher then the strut.
2 inches may not seem like a lot but it is
It's honestly the perfect amount to level out your truck! -Zach
that's what she said. sorry the 13 year old in me could resist.
Why are all your guy’s trucks rusted?
Welcome to the northeast and the effects of road salt.
Midwest too. Still drives fine. Not that Brazilian wax job you got in AZ or whatever.
RUSTYYYYYY
We don't all live in SoCal or AZ.
No torque specs? Impacts just going dugga dugga
3 ugga duggus per bolt, no more no less. -Zach
You do not have to loosen or take off any of that stuff the assembly will fit in there with out doing that crap!!!!
Nope doesn’t work on my Chevy Silverado, the Lower control is too high which is giving me issues putting the screw on the strut. I would have to remove the bolts of the control arm so I’d be able to drop it
Ive done a million !@@abejr2513
