And the color scheme is worrying. It doesn't have to match the Polynesian but these colors look like leftover cans from the Coronado redux (which was also a crime imo).
Agree with you. Looks like a typical Disney cash grab. They are slowly filling up every inch of open space there. Soon, the sun will be hidden my expensive hotels no one can afford.

Yuk! Glad we got our Poly stays in when Luau was there (wish we had seen it more than once), the lobby volcano/waterfall was in place, and before the view obstructing bungelows emerged. And now, this. 😢
I wonder if this will have some of the same studio and suite types as the new DVC towers at Disneyland Hotel on the other coast? I’m looking forward to the Duo Studio out there in July…maybe get to try out the same at this newest Poly building once done! I do feel it’ll look way better once it’s finished. I remember I absolutely hated the Riviera as it was being built but now that it’s finished, I like it a lot so staying I’m open minded about this. Thanks so much as always! 😃

Disney is no longer building nicely themed hotels which made them different. Just going for the cheap alternative but charging the same. Another Riviera generic high-rise type hotel spoiling the rest of the theming.
This looks like a Caribou Coffee shop resort, not the Polynesian resort we all have loved over the years. Paying big bucks for a monorail view at this beast would be like entering the Twilight Zone.
📸 Nice slow pans for until now it was just a giant blob to me. I would like to hear the background from the architect of how they came up with this design. Always interesting to hear why things look the way they do. In the end, prime real estate will now be occupied & given the investor call just happened, investors are the one who want high dividends. Use all prime real estate.💰💰 Unfortunately much of HS remains underutilized. Got some filming between the raindrops I see, Thx 4💜
I’m also curious about what you mentioned, and also if there were first plans to just build another longhouse like the other buildings? Ew, Brother. This New (Phoenix Airport Hampton Inn and Suites) building looks nothing Poly inspired. Lack of imagineering. It even ruins the illusion for the people staying at the OG resort. Why did they hire outside people to design this garbage? AND it's too close to the GF! Ruining their immersive resort experience. What an Eye Sore! Polynesian Resort now USED to be my favorite.

I agree with you @jhillestad. Unfortunately, this started way before when they got rid of the Fiesta Fun Center game room & shooting gallery many, many years ago at the Contemporary Resort Hotel. By the way, time to order more straws!

I'm fine with that because I don't want to deal with a bunch of Debbie Downers while I'm enjoying my stay at the new DVC Tower!
