This whole Brady and Rodgers debate is stupid. Rodgers, as a talent, is one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. His ability to make accurate passes outside of the pocket and evade pass rushers is what makes him special. However, athleticism is only one component of quarterback play. While Rodgers has the athletic intangibles which Brady doesn’t possess, Brady has mastered the art of execution in critical moments of the game, whether it be in the regular season or playoffs. Brady possesses a higher regular season winning percentage than Rodgers, has more game-winning drives than Rodgers, has a better playoff record than Rodgers and is statistically better than Rodgers in the playoffs for the past 5 seasons. Since Aaron Rodgers won his only Super Bowl in 2010, Brady has appeared in four Super Bowls and he’s won two of them. If the argument is Rodgers is the greatest quarterback of all time based solely on athletic ability, it’s a short-sighted argument because it ignores other components of what makes a quarterback great. SlickChick Completely understood. What I’m saying is this: Belichick has created a culture where players are held to a high standard and they must perform their job well or they will find someone else to do the job better and cheaper. That’s a foundational concept that very few teams are willing to undertake because it essentially means letting go of valuable pieces because they aren’t playing up to standard or they become too expensive to keep on the payroll. It puts a significant amount of pressure on the coaches to utilize their new personnel accordingly when more experienced, more valuable players are moved or let go. The point of saying that is that is what happened with Tom Brady. Belichick let go of Drew Bledsoe, a QB who had signed a 10-year deal with the Pats and he decided to go with Brady because he believed Brady could produce better for the team and do it at a cheaper price. Brady was coached up with the help of Belichick and his coaching staff for the first few years of his career, but Brady’s overall play increased around 2005 to 2006. Brady learned a lot from Belichick, but Brady’s consistency at the quarterback position is unbelievable and to consistently play at the highest level or an elite level for almost 15 years is a testament to the work he has put into his craft. I think it’s a disservice to say Belichick is solely responsible for Tom Brady being proclaimed as the GOAT because that argument ignores the work and dedication that Brady has put in year in and year out, on the field and off the field.
Tom Brady has been great with average to above average receivers. The only time Brady has had an elite receiver to throw to, he almost went undefeated and if not for a crazy catch by David Tyree, he would've had a perfect season. I think that is what makes him the greatest. For the most part, he never played with a Jerry Rice, Marvin Harrison, or even a Greg Jennings.
Maybe Tom didn’t have a Rice or Harrison for awhile, but he has had a Gronkowski for the better part of a decade, something Rodgers has never come close to having.
Tom gets hurt Patriots still win more than 75% of games that brady missed .. GB can't even get a win without Rodgers... that system of cheating and stuff.. Rodgers in NE would have 11 straight ... and cap off that undefeated season
I hate tom Brady...but he is the goat. I will miss him when he is gone. The pats dynasty is unmatched in history. And im an eagles fan. Rodgers does make unbelievable plays..but the consistency and chips are just not there.
What do you mean consistency not there, he throws between 4 and 10 interceptions a year compared to 38 to 45 touchdowns a year and he throws over 4,000 yards a season, the packers are a terrible franchise they have wasted the greatest qb in history every year his defense gives up like 30 points in playoff games, and every year the packers defense is in the top 10 worst defenses every year
Rodgers is a better leader than he gets credit for. Look at how he treated Crosby after he missed all those field goals against the Lions. Crosby hasn't missed since that game. That's pretty damn good leadership imo.
Notice how this wasn't even hardly an argument when Manning was in the league? It was all about Brady vs Manning. Now that Manning is gone sports media had to come up with something to debate so now it's brady vs rodgers. Guess who the only constant has been for the last 17 years? The goat TB12
@BostonSportsShips #17#9#6#5 he would also have played most seasons. Rodgers would still have better passer rating and int to td ratio so he is better right? Next gen qb will have better passer rating then anyone in the past. It doesn't mean much. Rules are always changing to help offense and qb.
Aaron Rodgers is a BETTER passer, Tom Brady is the KEY ingredient to the NE Patriots attacking system. It is a difficult discussion as if you take out both QB's and switch teams, they would both struggle. I think that Brady and the Pats play a structured way that suits him perfectly, whilst A-Rod plays in a more free-flowing game (compared to the Pats). They wouldn't have the same number of rings at different teams. But hey, that's just what I think.
That's the best explanation of how I see it that I have read. Giving the QB all the credit or all the blame in a team and scheme game is just stupid. I think rings should never be a deciding factor of judging the best
Wale Adedeji ehh I disagree, New England has always had an average defense at its worst. Meanwhile Green Bay has had at best, average if not atrocious defense for the last 5-7 years (this year looks up.) Games have rarely ever been lost because of Aaron, even the offense overall. Every playoff run since the GB’s super bowl win was stubbed by McCarthy conservatism (not trusting Aaron and the offense,) poor defense/receiving, and unlucky coin flips in OT. Green Bay has been successful because of Aaron, New England has been successful because of Brady and the team/coaching around him. If you could take Aaron’s skill and slap it into New England’s system they’d have even more appearances if not rings. I agree Brady is more accomplished and from what it sounds like he is more of a leader. But on skill alone no one touches Aaron, maybe Patrick Mahomes but the consistency has yet to be seen. So sure I can see people saying Brady is the best overall QB of all time but I’ll still stand by Aaron being the most skilled of all time.
>Tom brady throws too much pick Let me make my best Colin impersonation "Oh no Brady threw a pick! He threw a picky!" Reality, the great ones throw picks. You need to risk getting rejected to get an attractive girlfriend. Folks, I don't care if my quarterback takes chances. I want my star quarterback taking risks. COMING UP, the one thing everyone is getting wrong about the Cowboys
Rodgers takes risks without the downsides. His yards per attempt is higher than Brady's. He throws more touchdowns, and fewer interceptions. Sure the best QBs take their shots and never play timid, but Rodgers does both with less downside than any other QB in history.
Brady is the greatest QB based on his accomplish. Having skills is nice and all but at the end of the season only one team wins and that’s all that matters
@@SuperJohn12354 yea but for the most part those QBs had challenges at some point in time within thier own division which could be the difference between a first round bi and wild card.
Funny how you said “team”, because whenever Tom has to carry a team like Rodgers he’s 1-3 and 4-0 in super bowls with a good/great defense crazy how that works bud
He throws the ball better, but that doesn't make him a better QB. There's more to being a QB then throwing. Leadership. Clutch factor. Football IQ. Brady is better at that than Rodgers.
He also throws it on the run better, outside of the pocket, runs the ball better, and has the stats both regular season and playoffs actually that top Brady's in terms of QB rating, and td to int ratio. Tom has 0 rings without a top ten defense, and is 3-3 on the road in the playoffs. If he is really so much Superior to Rodger's as a competitor, and overcomes such bad teams/circumstances, he would have been able to win a ring without home field advantage or a top ten scoring defense. 14 career top ten scoring defenses for Brady, 2 for Rodgers. Rodgers also went 3-0 on the road to win his Superbowl, something Brady has NEVER done in 18 years.
@@TheMathew444 I said he throws it better so your points about outside the pocket and on the run is irrelevant because I already said that. And I don't see how being clutch equaits to playing home games. Brady plays home games because he's clutch in the regular season.

At least Brady went to 4 AFC Championship games and two Super Bowls in between his last SB Championship and the Seahawks win, he also had an Undefeated Season in there and a year where his knee was torn off his leg in 08'
I see Shannon's point, but "making great throws" isn't what makes a great NFL quarterback, cuz you gotta figure, most people who are the best at throwing a football are in the NFL, that's the lowest common denominator of what makes a great QB. if you can't make great throws, guess what? You're not a QB. A great QB achieves distinction by winning when it most counts, and no one's done that like Brady. That's not to say that Aaron can't achieve it one day, he probably can. But the discussion can't be had until he does, and I personally think that's what Aaron meant.
Personally I think Rodgers is more talented. If he had a semi-decent team we would have constantly seen Green Bay and New England in most of the super bowls following the 2010 campaign. I will admit Brady is more accomplished but he's also had better teams consistently than Aaron Rodgers.
If rings matter, why does nobody bring that up concerning Eli?? Brady got beat, when it counts by two Quarterbacks the league looks at as jokes.... let Peyton Manning lose to Byron Leftwich, we’d never hear the end of it.

However, Rodgers turns 36 in December, and Brady is still putting up comparable numbers to Rodgers. The likelihood that Rodgers will ever catch Brady in ANY of these categories (besides league MVPs) is virtually impossible. People bring up Rodgers passer rating. He's only led the league in Passer Rating once. Yes he throws less INTs. He also takes less chances, and wins less games. If you're not winning football games, TD-INT ratio doesn't really mean much. There is no comparison between these two players. Rodgers is likely the best thrower of the football in NFL History, but if the stats above prove anything, there's more to playing QB than not throwing INTs.
The laziness of analysts arguments astonishes me. Shannon's argument is talent, so Mike Vick is the best qb ever? Skip's is rings which means Terry Bradshaw's just as good as Brady? They need substance to their arguments rather then just this is my opinion so it's right.
@@djviseth Vick was one of the most talented players to ever step on a football field. Doesn't make him the best qb, just like Rodgers having great talent doesn't make him the best.
For Shannon to point out last year's super bowl as an argument against Tom's greatness is really absurd. Tom played an amazing game, as he always does in the Super Bowl.
Goon Squad lol bro it’s a joke calm down. You a skip huh ?just have so much love for the man. Brady has better and more consistent coaching and better run organization. Rodgers coaching and organization is bleh at best. So you can make a debate about the teo
After the comeback in the SB, Shannon said "Brady was the greatest NFL player of all time" - since then he's spent his whole time trying to convince everyone that he ISN'T the greatest 🤔
I know we'll never stop talking about this until someone retires, but I mean can't we just talk about the game and admit both are two of the best to play
I love how stats only matter on games Aaron Rodgers does bad. Skip doesn’t even mention Rodgers having the all time best passer rating. He doesn’t mention having the best TD/INT ratio in NFL history that no one is even close to matching. He only mentions stats on that 1 game where he barely beat a backup in the super bowl run even though his guy just lost to a backup in the Super Bowl. This is another piece of evidence how much of a joke it is that Skip Bayless still has a job.
I love how Shannon talks about personal stats and talks down on Brady for having a better team but when skip points out that he had the single best super bowl game and still lost, the argument is thrown away
I mean, when it comes to football its about winning right? that's what every team is fighting to do every year right? to win the SB? OK so with that, who wins more? Tom Brady. Who has more rings? Tom Brady. Win opportunity in the 4th %? Tom brady.
Sgt H. Jennings facts. This coversation came out of nowhere when Brady won his fifth. After we couldn’t compare him to Montana anymore it was like “what now?” And now they prop up a guy with one championship and put him on a pedistol when Brady had to win at least 4. Hard work beats talent and that’s why Brady is the greatest to ever do it.
str8duval they don’t mean everything but they mean a lot. He’s brought his team there 8 times. He has too many records to count, he’s almost won 30 playoff games... Montana won 16. That’s just crazy.
I’m a packer fan and its not even close. Brady is the best. Theirs more to playing quarterback then ability and skill. Leadership and being a great teammate are a huge as well and Rodgers doesn’t even come close to Brady in this aspect.
Your not a packer fan if Aaron had bill he would probably have 7 rings by now if u were a Packers fan you would know Green Bay office in coaching staff is a waste of words Brady had alotttt of help so it's not Brady's the goat .....it's bill Brady the coaching staff in the front office is the goat
foh bill coaches the defense, everyone who has played with brady will tell you brady leads that team not bill. Our defense is NOT that good never has been bradys decision making abilities is what separates him. 28-3 rodgers chokes every time no matter what team he plays for!
I do not know why this is even a discussion... like I literally don't. The debate was always "Brady or Montana" for Greatest QB of All Time. Brady then wins the Atlanta Superbowl, and now all of a sudden it's "Brady v.s. Rodgers???". So we're gonna act like Rodgers passes MONTANA out of no where. Rodgers is a phenomenal QB, but as of right now he is not even top 5 all time. When you are saying the word "GOAT" - you take into account the championships, the titles, the accolades, the QB play, the football IQ, etc... Rodgers is no where near Brady in terms of overall achievements. If we are talking about who is playing better at QB right now, then it is Rodgers without a doubt. Tom Brady is the greatest QB of all time, and it surely does not look like anyone will pass him. 1. Tom Brady 2. Joe Montana 3. Peyton Manning 4. John Elway 5. Drew Brees
straight facts lol it was like people would do tom vs montanna as if when tom passed montanna we would go to the next level which is Rodgers like omg in the next 10 years everyone will remember tom as the goat and Rodgers as another troy aikman whos up there but not at the top
Everyone does know that Aaron has called Tom the greatest ever before right? This is all a narrative thing anyways. But when a player already admits the other is better. It’s over. @@ryanmabee5335 more factors come into it though. The defense actually has to make a stop so any comeback is even possible. Special teams can't commit stupid gaffes like they did in the Rams game. The team has to be firing on all cylinders. Otherwise the qb's efforts will all be for nothing
@@nvmfirezactaylor6035 the defense also gets moral from the QB play. Once Tom Brady starts destroying, hes keeping the offense of the other team out of rhythm and cooling them off, so the defense then has an easier time. That's why he has 60+ forth quarter comebacks.

Next gen qb will have better passer rating then anyone in the past. It doesn't mean much.
Rules are always changing to help offense and qb.
@Leron AavineHe ain't 🐐. Bill is.
Good points
That's the best explanation of how I see it that I have read. Giving the QB all the credit or all the blame in a team and scheme game is just stupid. I think rings should never be a deciding factor of judging the best
Wale Adedeji ehh I disagree, New England has always had an average defense at its worst. Meanwhile Green Bay has had at best, average if not atrocious defense for the last 5-7 years (this year looks up.)
Games have rarely ever been lost because of Aaron, even the offense overall.

Rings matter wins matter ... Brady is better alot of things go into that but that doesn't mean Rodgers can't catch up Rodgers is still great
Personally I think Rodgers is more talented. If he had a semi-decent team we would have constantly seen Green Bay and New England in most of the super bowls following the 2010 campaign. I will admit Brady is more accomplished but he's also had better teams consistently than Aaron Rodgers.
He can still catch up rings wise if the Packers get in the playoffs anything can happen and he still has a good 5-7 years of football left in him.
Rodgers is injury prone, he has 3 or 4 yrs left, tops. i wouldnt be surprised if he retired before Brady
If rings matter, why does nobody bring that up concerning Eli?? Brady got beat, when it counts by two Quarterbacks the league looks at as jokes.... let Peyton Manning lose to Byron Leftwich, we’d never hear the end of it.

Obviously Brady has played several more seasons than Rodgers.

I believe he would have at least 6 rings with the talent that Brady has played with due to his mobility as a QB. #rodgersmoretalented#bradymoreaccomplished
Brady has a better resume than Rodgers
Rodgers is something like 1-41 in games against .500 or better teams when losing by more than 1 heading into the fourth quarter...it really isnt close lol

Some say when you are ready to win you have to be ready to make sacrifices like giving up money to build around you.
Has Aaron Rodgers surpassed Peyton Manning or Montana tho?
Where's Joy Taylor now. I love her.
Last time i checked its not your talent that makes you great..it is what you accomplish..yh brady got bill..but bill doesn’t step on the field..brady time and time again has proved it..under all circumstances..but to do what he did against atlanta..this should never be a debate again
