- Full diagnosis of a no start condition on the Echo CS2511T chainsaw. If it does start it has very little power. I'll show you how I fixed it. These techniques are the same for other brands like Stihl and Husqvarna.

"Click" says the torque skrench - priceless! Nice troubleshooting vid, Thank You.
Thanks for watching!
A buddy got tired of his. Told him I would give it back, but he didn’t want it. The factory installed fuel filter screen was missing. Allowed dirt into carb screen. Easy fix.
Great video.
Thanks for watching!
Great video! I already cleaned the whole carburetor, that screen was in excellent conditions and it still wont start. It starts when I prime it but dies inmediately. Changed spark plug, fuel filter is like new, primer bulb is just fine, air filter is clean. Saw started to like want to die. Like accelerating and decelerating. Took out carb, cleaned it thoroughly with carb cleaner. Still won’t start.what could be the problem ?
It could be as simple as a carb adjustment or it could be as rare as a bad ignition coil. Sorry, its knida hard to diagnose these types of problems online. If you had an inline spark tester you could see if the spark dies before the engine stops turning.
Interesting. Thx
Good stuff
Thanks Tony!
Ever accidentally start up a chainsaw with the sheath still on the bar? Makes for a good day!
Can't say I've ever done that. Sounds like a mess.
Great information and warnings
Thanks for watching!
@@TheGreasyShopRag cold days coming and no heat. Got a passion for small engines. I have some thoughts what to study over the winter. Any tips on things to study? Thanks
@@steveriggenbach90 I feel its important to know theory on how things work. It makes diagnosing problems easier, and if you know why things work the way they do then you can fix anything. A correspondence course or maybe EETC certification can teach that. Theres a lot of mechanics that can tell you what a choke does but how many can tell you why it works.
If you've been down that road already then maybe check out "2 stroke tuners handbook".
Always verify the customer complaint. Too many times have I heard, "It doesn't work" or "It won't start" and all I had to do was properly start it.
I only agree with that if the saw is new to the customer, otherwise something has changed and is preventing them from starting it the way they have been for years. Even when I think it may be operator error I do basic checks first. Your mileage may vary.
@@TheGreasyShopRag The point of my comment is I don't dive in trying to fix the issue the "customer" has told me about anymore. I used to, but I've wasted too much time on wild goose chases. Now when I'm told something is broken and/or needs to be fixed, I verify it for myself.
I only bring up my comment because if you tried to start the saw for yourself before looking for the reason for the no-start you would have noticed the purge bulb immediately.
@@killer2600 I don't disagree with your logic. It does save time and you can fix the complaint and move on to the next repair. I used to work that way and was very productive. The problem I had was customers coming back with other problems a week later. "I just had it in here and now its broke again"! Actually its not broke again, its still broke because I didn't look for a scored cylinder when I was doing a carb rebuild, or I didn't look at the worn rim drive while replacing starter rope. At a minimum everything gets at least a quick glance. I can then upsell needed repairs and save my reputation or at least let the customer know he may be due for service after a certain amount of use. This system has worked for me.
I just reread your comment and can see where your coming from. It makes sense.
Thanks for explaining all of that man I got check my screen and maybe take it off completely do you recommend taking off ?
Do not take it out. Scum and debris will just end up deeper inside the carb and make fixing it more difficult.
Where i can't find that red tool for spark plugs?
google, thexton plug remover
Well done 👍
Thanks Henry!
Man those scopes are the cats ass. Shout out from Nova Scotia

Nice video , comparing the 2511 to Stihl 151 what is your opinion? Need one of those for pruning!
I like the Echo but I always tell people to pick a good dealer then pick a saw.
Hello, I have an Echo 2511t as wel. Great little beast. Does the work, but I have some issues with it. The chainsaw starts well, but if I use it for cutting it kind of stops. After the cutting I mean. If I want to continue working, I need to gove gas otherwise it will just stop and I need to start it again. Now I ruined my starters cord and have to get a new one. Do you think there are any problems with my carburetor? Thanks !
A carb problem is certainly possible but there are a lot of other possibilities. I always start by making sure the cylinder isn't scored.
I have the same issue, i run 89 ethanol free, i just bought it 3 days ago. It would start, but as soon as i let off the throttle, it would die. It also would die mid cut in certain situations. So i yanked the limiter caps off, tuned her a little fat on the low jet and she runs now like a stuck pig…
I was ready to take it back to ace hardware…give that a chance if you havent already fixed it
It doesn't have any ass to it because it's literally 25cc.
On a side note. Most people despise working on top handle chainsaws.
After the first hundred or so it just doesn't matter anymore :-)
Tossing a saw down and plunking them down/around every time you move them must be a right of passage or something. I see all these saw guys do that when working on saws. Maybe they got weak wrists or something.
Haven't you noticed how loud it is when I just roll a saw over on the bench? For me, its the bench. Watch the corner of the bench when I plop a saw on it. It probably bounces 2 inches. My bench is mounted on a single post, supported by a winch cable. It has the ability to drop to the floor for lifting objects my weak wrists can't handle.
Except for the plunking thing, did you enjoy the video?
@@TheGreasyShopRag I liked the vid. Just pointing out how guys toss around other people's saws. It's not like the 2511 is heavy or anything.
@@outdoors-fun Fair enough.
Dude. Awesome video, but your background music makes me feel like I'm back in the 80s watching my friends dad's porn when I was about 15 years old.😅
Maybe I got the music mixed up with some other videos I make.
Clogged Screen I See That All The Time 😳🥵😩
