Hey guys! This episode of GBNF was made from suggestions from fans who emailed us demanding this show be covered on this series. If you want to make suggestions for future episodes of GBNF then e-mail GBNFSeries@gmail.com and maybe we’ll cover your show!
i was humming the season 1 intro earlier today, and had to UA-cam it. 2 hours later this video is suggested in my feed. coincidence, i think not. Synchronicity. Jerry O'Connell became physically taller and fitter during this shows run. The next time i saw him after series end was on Sliders. Which was an awesome show...Until the intoduction of the Kromags as regular antagonist, Quinn's true background being revealed and what happened to Wade, which gutted me. The show went down hill after that. I only continued watching the show for The Crying Man and Maggie.
@PrivateOGITH I bought the whole series DVD from someone online about 15 years ago but they were all recorded from TV. Quality was ok buy not great. Not all of them are on UA-cam
As a 9-10 year old, I watched this every Saturday afternoon, followed by Captain Power. Man those were the days. Jerry O'Connell was so relatable as a character and I identified with him on so many levels. I still have that theme song stuck in my head and it's been 34 years.
THANK YOU. This has been driving me mad for years!!!! I have been convinced this was a thing with the flying and the cans for years but never could find anything about it. I thought i was going mad and my mind was playing tricks on me. I knew i wasn't going mad. Thanks man.
Awesome! Watching through this series again on UA-cam now! One of my favorite syndicated shows as a kid along with Small Wonder, Charles in Charge, and Out of This World. Do Mr. T’s “T and T” next!
I am in highschool as of now and watched this so many times during the pandemic. My friends thought I was crazy when I told them but I didn't care lol. Great show. Great cast. Amazing execution
Growing up Jerry O'Connell was the big brother I never had. He was my chubby buddy in stand by me, he even thought me about stream theory with sliders. To this day as a 40 year old man I want to meet him and thank him for the childhood memories.
Here in Philly, it aired on channel 17 every Saturday afternoon. Over the years it ran along with Superboy, Super Force, Dracula, Lighting Force and some other low budget shows. I love that show. I was just like Andrew. In 1988, I was in 10th grade and an X-Men comic addict. My cousin Dan befriended Jerry O’Connell when they worked on a short live series called "Do Not Disturb".
OMG, I totally remember this show!! I had forgotten all about it, but thank you Joblo, for digging up a wonderful old buried memory, for me! I hate that it's never been released on home video, but at least it's up on UA-cam,....for now. I adored this show, as a kid! It's also interesting & awesome to discover, that Fred Mollin was the composer of the theme song. As Fred also composed, one of my all time favorite horror movie themes, darkest side of the night, from Friday the 13th part 8.
My friends and I have waited for decades, hoping someone would bring back MSI (or at least release it on DVD). Sounds like we’ll be waiting a little longer… Awesome job reviewing this great show!
Oh my God! you just unlocked my hidden memories of this show. Everything just rushed back in. I probably haven't thought about this show in over 30 years.
OMG, I had completely forgotten about this show! Thanks for the happy reminder! And yes, I totally agree' there SHOULD be a revival/follow-up show. Maybe on Hulu or something? Either way, keep the nostalgia-train chugging! =)
i'm so glad there are people who remember this show, i loved this show as a kid, mostly because i couldn't believe a kid from Stand By Me was in a Canadian series
My Secret Identity was a proto Smallville mixed in with Back to the Future. Probably the first show to have left an everlasting fingerprint in my memory. Watching a TV series about a comic book fan who gets superpowers and learns the ropes and responsibilities of being a superhero was an absolute delight for a kid like me who was also into comics back then. I was like 6 years old at the time.
I never heard of this show and I grew up around that time. I must say thank you for this informative video on this show. Makes me wonder what would happen if the show really did came back in the modern day time.
Thanks David and JoBlo for reviewing this good, classic tv show. I had forgottened about it,entirely. don't really remember if I watched it or not, but, will view it on youtube tho.
This is the show that got Jerry O’Connell Sliders. This is also the show that made me never take Jerry O’Connell seriously again. It was years before I realized he was in Stand By Me. He looked so different
Being born in the early 80s I was too young to even know about this show, but I grew up with and still love comics. I actually have 3 long boxes full of them, most from the late 80s, 90s, and early to mid 2000s. I would've loved this show as a kid! I'm definitely going to watch some of season 1.
I started re-watching Cheers and during a season 1 episode Derek Mcgrath the guy from my childhood showed up and made me think "where do I know this guy?" Oh yeah, My Secret Identity , love this video.
I used to watch this show followed by Jason Bateman's series 'It's Your Move', and I thought that hour of TV was fun. Then War of the Worlds (TV series) came on so it was back to sci-fi until one hour later when some qusi-sci-fi show starring Donna Pescow came on. That show--whatever it was called--was good, but only in small doses. In it, Donna had produced a baby with an alien and the show revolved around the girl and her relationship with her mother and missing her dad. It was good like every other episode.
Jerry O Connell is a sweet guy I meet him in the big Apple/Manhattan. I was able to chat with him for a while but, it never crossed my mind to ask for his autograph. I was just happy to chat with him. I told him I loved his work on sliders. Still my favorite series! FYI: his actually a tall guy!..
I recorded this show, while I was at school. I'd come home, and watch the two episodes Sci-fi showed, while I was at school. This was PRE DVR. VCR timer is what I used.
This show was amazing back in the late 80s. I have watched the show again as an adult because sometimes I have found that shows I really liked a lot as a kid I do not like as much as an adult. This show is still awesome and it is a crying shame that it did not make it past season 3. I feel like with proper exposure it could have gotten a lot bigger.
A fun show from the good old days. It takes me back to my school days. This show has a nice catchy theme song that was pretty cool for its time, i miss the 1990's I like that he had super strength, it 💪 😌 reminds me of superman because he had many similar powers though I'm not sure if he'd really be a match for Superman ha haa ha ha! I would like to see a reboot just like they did with other old films. What I miss about back then was some of my classmates because this show, makes me reminisce of way back when. This show had lots of interesting moments. From watching this show it made me believe that I could have super powers too just like Andrew! This show makes me warp to a good fun and happy times. I hope they make more good shows like this!
Oh I'm so happy I found this video. I saw this when I was very young. I can't remember if I saw the whole series or a season. I'm from The Netherlands and back then certain shows aired much later here then when it did from the original country. I think i watched this when i was 9 or 10. But I was thinking about this series for a long time. I didn't know the title or who starred in it. The only thing I remembered was that the main character uses spraycans to fly. Thanks for the video.
Oh. My. Lord!!! I loved this show! I even added to my multiverse video wherein I included a classic superhero show universe. Earth 21. This was my jam. I even did fan fic in college about Captain Noble, Andrew's favorite in-show hero.
I remember this one. I really wish either Syfy or Netflix could revive this show. How is a child in the 90s and I remember they used to show this on Syfy channel
Damn inwas searching for this tw show for years!!! In Itali was caled ultra boy and i dident find it any were! Tnx man realy tnx! I remember taking hair spray cans and try to fly 😅🤣🤣🤣
I remembered watching this as a teen, he always flies with the spray cans and that crazy professor of his. Thanks for making this. Anyway, why do you guys close the comment section for the Ms Marvel tv show review?
I totally remember this show. I’m pretty sure I watched every episode of it. And yes, I still hum the theme song every now and again. Two memories I have (which might be warped) was how the second season premiere was interrupted (on KTLA 5 in Los Angeles) because of the San Francisco earthquake during the World Series. And the second memory was how the show never came back after season 3. I was still young and didn’t understand cancellations and so I blamed the Gulf War as to the reason the show never returned 🤣 as if the tv stations chose to air the war coverage over my special show, My Secret Identity lmao
Remember this syndicated series. It was a low budget series but it had a lot of story. It aired with Superboy Superforce and Dracula the series. Derek McGrath is like a Canadian version of Sylvester McCoy.
I liked that show when I was a kid. Unfortunately it was put on and taken off schedule basically without notice on german television. But knowing what I know now I got to say it‘s kind of a kids version of The Greatest American Hero, with the uncontrollable powers and such…
This show, one episide expecially, taught me an important lesson: If you ever get superpowers do not become a superhero, because humanity does not need one. Also, do not use it to became a supervillain because humanity is not worth to be dominated either.
Actually, I have a question concerning this: With the exception of Jerry O'Connell, all, if not the majority of the actors and actresses in this were Canadian, or born in Canada. I am a Canadian. Was it ever stated where Briarwood was? I ask that because I saw an episode earlier which had clips in it, and it showed Andrew standing at a baseball plate and behind him was the Montreal Expos logo. I am wondering if Briarwood was in Canada, or the US.

I loved this show growing up, used to watch it back to back with OUT OF THIS WORLD on weekends. Great video!
Out of this world was a great show too
Out of This World.. was that with the character named Evie?
