    ❤Its 7-1-2024, I'm sitting on my porch thinking about my older sister who passed away 6 years ago. I just happened to look to my look to my left, and my little green hummingbird friend is about 10 feet from me. It always makes me think of her. So, this song, Christine's passing, and my sister on my mind...then the hummingbird...❤❤❤

    RIP Christine, you will be dearly missed. Back in the early 1980's I saw Fleetwood Mac in Philadelphia. There was a pause
    prior to the beginning of Songbird so that Christine could go from keyboard over to the piano. When she played the first
    few notes to Songbird the entire stadium fell silent. The piano was gorgeous, her voice angelic. It felt like an out of body
    experience. When Christine was done she got a standing ovation. What a moment that was, once in a lifetime.

    This recording was done at the Zellerback Auditorium back in 1976. Because it was being recorded in a concert hall, it had to be played, sung, and recorded, all in one take; and so, she sat down at the piano and did just that. The concert hall gave the song the acoustics needed to display its true potential. Lindsey Buckingham added some light guitar riffs back in the studio, and the song made it onto one of the most successful albums of all time.

    One of the most beautiful songs ever recorded Christine's voice has such purity and is still packed with emotion, it is simply breathtaking. Fleetwood Mac as well has giving great musicians had 2 of the best female singers around. Cosmo is spot on Stevie seemed to get a lot of the publicity, but think a lot of it was also down to Christine not really wanting the limelight she is a very quiet and reserved person where Stevie was definately a social butterfly.

    Christine has long been my favorite member of Fleetwood Mac. Her voice is contralto which has a richness Nicks wishes she had. Christine doesn't just write gorgeous ballads such as this but can also write a catchy pop song. She even made an album with just Lindsey Buckingham a few years ago, they've always sounded great together.
    For me Nicks is okay but she puts on a persona, the mystical gypsy/witch. Her find most of her songs don't move me and her voice is limited. McVie sings from her heart, she's the real deal.

Many people don't know just how many of the band's big hits she wrote and sang. So much focus was on Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham But this woman was an extremely prolific songwriter and a real power house behind a large portion of Fleetwood Mac's music. Oh, and the woman has incredibly beautiful green eyes! (check out, "Fleetwood Mac - Hold Me (Official Music Video 😍) Just thought I'd throw that in, lol. I think literally every song on that rumors album is so iconic and truly excellent. Christine McVie at that point was getting overshadowed by Stevie Nicks, but she was a mainstay from early on and had a solo career before that with her maiden name, Christine Perfect. A lot of people really love her particular album called the Christine Perfect album. And then Fleetwood Mac put out Bare Trees and then Rihanna or whatever that other one is called, and then Rumors was just blew up huge. I love her singing and piano playing on this and the other ballad that she is featured on in this album. I think it might be called Oh Daddy.

    • @timarmstrong3251
      @timarmstrong3251 Рік тому

      Christine was never overshadowed within the band. After Peter Green left she and Danny Kirwan were the band. Then her and Bob Welch were the band. Then her and Stevie and Lindsey were the band. Mick and John (who pretty much owned the band after Peter left) would have fired any of the others in an instant if Christine had asked them to - not that she would have. Stevie was sexier and wanted a solo career, but Christine never did.

      I saw her with Lindsey two years ago, just the two of them in concert in Southern California. She did this song and nobody uttered a sound. In her late 70s herself now she still sounded great.
      And your account of what happened is pretty on point. But it was recorded at the Zellerbach auditorium..
      Just her, grand piano and lots of flowers.
      Amazing. Not enough praise for her.

    • @ronbock8291
      @ronbock8291 2 роки тому +4

      They actually struggled to get a good take in the studio, so they booked a local auditorium, put up a bunch of mics and set a bouquet of roses on her piano, and put a spotlight on the roses so when she came it it was like she was giving a live performance, but to just the engineer and producer, and Lindsey Buckingham who strums a guitar throughout. It’s a single live take. It was written for her soon to be ex-husband, John McVie, and it is said that for years afterward, when ever they did this live, the band left the stage, and McVie would stand in the wings weeping as she played it.

      I don't know if that's true or if she was just having fun with the audience. She was chucking about it as she started.

    I think the song you are thinking of is “You Make Lovin’ Fun”, which Christine also sang lead on. It is a little more upbeat, but has a similar note/chord progression.

    Fleetwood Mac just oozed talent always and that started with Christine McVie (R.I.P.). Rumors is an absolute masterpiece that I recommend to anyone that loves real music.

    In my view, Christine's voice was always the best one in the band. RIP Christine.... and thank you for all of that beautiful music.

    Try listening to Christine singing I Would Rather Go Blind with Chicken Shack - a great British blues band from the 60s with a great guitarist, Stan Webb. That was when I first heard her voice and I have never forgotten it.

    I love it when you like a song, and you lean back, and look like your whole body is taking it in and you are smiling with your mouth closed, but, smiling, in bliss. Thank you Harri!

    There is an earlier Fleetwood Mac song of Christine's called "Homeward Bound" that you should check out. From before Lindsay and Stevie joined the band.

    Saw Fleetwood Mac six times between 1977 and 1987, and each time this was their very last encore. Usually, Christine was alone with her piano on stage, but once Lindsay and John sat on the drum riser and played acoustic guitars.
    Being a yonger and hornier person back then, Stevie was the one that usually captured my attention. But whenever Christine was featured, my heart was completely enthralled with her.
    This song belongs on any softer playlist you may have.
