Excellent video! I have for a long time been a advocate for air gun training. The fast point and shoot skills acquired are a huge benefit. It takes a lot of skill and practice to acquire the level you are at. Congratulations! I know this sport is big in other countries, it is slowly but surely making it's way to American. Thank you for posting.
shooting a modified gun rarely has that much recoil. lots of things considered. loads, compensators, etc. its always about practicing the basics of target acquisition and muscle memory. this seems like a definite good way to practice/compete. wasn't there a japanese ipsc champion recently? one that didn't own a real gun but had to borrow one from a fellow competitor and won with that borrowed gun.
in ipsc, competitors try to download rounds as much as possible, and use barrel porting and compensators to try and reduce recoil as much as possible also, the scopes they use are red dot or reflex sights and have no magnification rather, they give better target acquisition speed than conventional handgun sights, which are small and difficult to use effectively in a speed-based context
It is compensated not only for the cosmetic effect, but also because it is a Gas Blowback pistol. Gas blowback airsoft weapons have realistic recoil, and in turn add to the challenge of aiming.
I like the idea of airsoft IPSC. After you pay for the equipment it is so cheap to shoot. You can practice forever and pay next to nothing. I know it isnt near the same as shooting a firearm but it still can be just as fun, and even more so when you take into consideration how much more the average person can practice due to the cheap ammo prices.
it is a basic IPSC Race Gun Rig. you can find them easily on the internet. & no... they are not intended for CQB. they are intended for target shooting only, specifically IPSC.
@ArmaLiteFanatic im not saying to sell it, just you should have bought a crossman, p.s. there are trigger groups, barrels, fill valves, sears, hammers, frames, hopups, Orings, and guide rods in that aisle.
What's comfortable for you isn't going to be comfortable for every other human being on this planet. Some shooters simply prefer to have their off-hand thumb a little higher. Also, the scope mount provides a reliable indexing point if one were to utilize it. Just preference; he's not doing anything wrong. Some of the top IPSC shooters have even stranger shooting styles. The best thing to do is to use what works best for you.
I never said his skill wasn't real. I just found the seriousness of this video to be over the top, especially for airsoft. Real IPSC/USPSA shooters don't try to make themselves look like HK action movie heroes.
@ArmaLiteFanatic you could find replacement parts at the first aisle in dicks sporting goods for all the airsoft guns there. literally. just look 2ft into the aisle.
How does he make the Pepper Poppers fall??? I was at a IPSC Rifle match a week ago and some guys had problems getting the poppers to fall with 55 grains 223. bullets. I wonder how that would have worked with a BB bullet...
Well, it is hard to catch from the video, but the strong hand thumb looks to be on the safety, no problems there. The weak hand thumb is a bit high and it makes contact with the scope mount. It should ideally be lower - level with the frame not the slide. But it is not a huge adjustment.
@iamtheflu Airsoft IPSC serves to purposes, cheap training for real steel IPSC shooters, and an alternative to real steel IPSC shooting for people who cannot due to money constraints or local firearm laws. Either way it is important to replicate the real steel version as closely as possible.
The use of airsoft allows the shooter to refine his or her techniques in drawing the gun, holstering the gun, drawing and aligning the sights and mag changes and trigger control. These airsoft are as close to the real thing as possible and allow for practice in confined spaces and at minimal costs. A number of top line shooters use these as practise aids. A lot of them also use airpistols to master trigger control. The value of using airsoft for training should not be undervalued. sticustom
i like airsoft IPSC, but i find it a little weird that the "show clear" thing still carried over cause of 2 things. racking the slide will no clear the chamber and the gun cannot be fired without the magazine as the gas is in the mag which propels the BBs. but i guess its good practice if any of the airsoft shooters goes into to real steel IPSC.
What gun is he running?, it looks like a Hi Capa or 1911 (possible TM). If it is TM he got custom metal slides and he has his own custom airsoft surgeon scope mount (which is like $100). Does anyone know exactly what gun he is using and what slides or external upgrades he has made? I would love to know. Thanks
@aaron4820 idk if they have ipsc with real firearms in asia but i do know that at the ranges and competitions i attend in california almost all the good shooters use airsoft in the garages with targets from BAM airsoft and that is a way to pratice many many times for a fraction of the cost of firing live rounds and it more realistic than dry firing the weapon
i'm confused, IPSC does exist in Hong Kong I thought? (with real firearm), yet I see more airsoft version than real guns ones, is it because it's really expensive to be part of that sport? I have a feeling Clarence Lai would surely be part of the real ones?
Wow, we should really take a letter from you, I mean you know ALL about guns, despite Clarence Lai being a real IPSC practitioner in both airsoft AND real steel arenas.
Its still good for practicing movement through a course. It still requires skill in Movement coordination and memorization. Recoil dosent affect me much as a shooter but it does take away from ISPC somewhat without recoil. Ranges are same as real steel ISPC research some more before saying things like that.
you have no idea. . Clarence Lai is well known throughout Asia in both BB IPSC (airsoft) and STEEL IPSC. He does professional gunsmithing for both airsoft and steel as well. I guarantee he can place a plastic or lead double-tap between your eyes. He definitely knows how to handle a real gun. . Know what you're even talking about before posting.
Well at least when he is done shooting, he treats the pistol like it is real. Before beginning, make sure it is unloaded and nothing in chamber, and then load, then afterward, safety, unload and clear chamber
@ArmaLiteFanatic armalite. take five minutes to find a gas pistol, with a 33rd mag, and 360fps. im sure you can do that right? if you cant, i found some 'special' classes to put you in at school.
@ArmaLiteFanatic search up the crossman c11 on airgundepot (.com) it has 480fps and a 18 rd mag. you're saying that with those stats, that you have to pay 3000$ more for a gun with similar stats?
cuz in some regions, there are people that want to compete in this sport but their government won't allow real firearms for the competition. hence, airsoft. and btw, though the real deal is better, airsoft practical shooting is ALSO extremely fun and difficult.
Stance and grip are both fine. Looks more or less identical to what I see used in USPSA with real guns. No doubt he would need to make adjustments to switch to real firearms but stance and grip are both fine. At least to my far from expert eye.
IPSC Australia. STI Trojan and HS2000. I simply made a comment as to airsoft being a great training aid to the shooter. If you dont like a comment koalorka why not make a positive comment in reply stating your reasons why you dont agree? Why comment like that? If you have had a bad day take it wlse where. People like you give shooting a bad name. Thanks gfreeman556 for your positive comments.
Nothing against Mr. Lai, I admire his work and talent, but it pisses me off so freaking much when cameramen go in front of airsoft guns! It's a violation of BASIC GUN RULES! NEVER LOOK DOWN THE BARREL! Handling airsoft guns should be no different than with real steel! Its a revolting habit! It doesn't matter if its dry firing, ITS WRONG. PERIOD.
geez I didn't know clarence lai was an IPSC style shooter... for you guys who don't think he's very professional, look at any videos of official IPSC stuff. he's no joke
@burningsponge Real IPSC gun would hit that price range also, and i dont know if your talking about airsoft or real steel, but no you cant find a better airsoft gun with better stats for 50- 100$ dont know what site you are looking at, but even the hi capa platform made by Tokyo Marui is already 150 USD
You do what you can. You can't blame them for their government; much less than I can blame you (Thnenini or Theproperty) for your government. I think he can and does shoot real guns as well. Nice camera angles..
My initial reaction: If you've got the money to buy real shooting equipment, why don't you just shoot a real gun? Ah... But in your country, it might not be legal to own a gun... I get it... I've met a few Japanese and Korean IPSC shooters who said they use airsoft to practice their skills. They said (and this was 8 years ago) that the only drawback is it doesn't quite come close to simulating the recoil of major PF loads. IMHO: Gun control is a .10 split and a keyhole hit at 15m.
@nousername789123456 its still cheaper to do airsoft IPSC. a great open class gun only costs around $1300 and a usable one cost only a few hundred. along with ammo and propellant costing dirt. unfortunately, the US airsoft IPSC organization crumbled and there is no true competitions anymore. but for those people who still choose to do it, its not about competing on a national level, its only about the fun of competing against a small circle of friends.
@ArmaLiteFanatic nice job wasting your time writing 5 comments, p.s. if you spend 400$ a year on replacement parts, is that reliable? that's like buying a car just to spend 10g's a year on replacement parts, no. if you want something good, you'd buy something that doesn't need replacement parts. that's the smart thing to do.
@ArmaLiteFanatic so you're saying you cant take care of a gun? sad. i've owned a crossman for 2 years, it hasn't needed any replacement parts or severe matenance. if you cant take care of a gun you really shouldn't own another one that a person like you, could use the money for something more useful than a crappy bb gun, like say, a real gun maybe?
yappojilla you have a few issues to work through. One is realising that everyone has the right to an opinion and understanding not everyone thinks like you do. I respect your right to your opinion but remember you are wrong this time. When required to shoot one handed the other hand is pressed against the chest. This serves many purposes. One is to keep the hand from swing in the air and causing your balance to shift and therefore your aim to shift. I thought you knew IPSC? Obviously NOT!
Watch my videos, I'm not by any means a keyboard gangster, but I'm not a pro USPSA shooter either. Todd Jarrett was my inspiration. Sorry, he's more pro than Clarence Lai. =P I'll be going to my first USPSA multi-gun match this upcoming weekend. =) Do y'all do multi-gun IPSC overseas? It's gaining popularity here in the states. It's not too big in Europe because many countries don't allow high-cap semi-auto rifles.
Excellent video! I have for a long time been a advocate for air gun training. The fast point and shoot skills acquired are a huge benefit. it's kind fast

wow that's some sick accuracy...i wish i had a little field like that to practice =P
@ArmaLiteFanatic so what you say is that it doesn't matter the stats, but that it's a BRAND airsoft gun?
@ArmaLiteFanatic you could find replacement parts at the first aisle in dicks sporting goods for all the airsoft guns there. literally. just look 2ft into the aisle.
Those are some pretty nice groupings for an airsoft gun.
dude.. that accuracy is crazy.. what barrel is he using?? tk twist? 6.01??? i must know...
How does he make the Pepper Poppers fall???
I was at a IPSC Rifle match a week ago and some guys had problems getting the poppers to fall with 55 grains 223. bullets.
I wonder how that would have worked with a BB bullet...
Is that sight mount specific to that gun? I am getting a KJW M9 Vertec with the bottom rail and might be wainting the top rail mount.
Well, it is hard to catch from the video, but the strong hand thumb looks to be on the safety, no problems there. The weak hand thumb is a bit high and it makes contact with the scope mount. It should ideally be lower - level with the frame not the slide. But it is not a huge adjustment.

Whoa! That's some quick shot there.
I don't know why, but I found this video hilarious!

every gun can be upgraded it just depends on how u modify it.
out of curiosity, is that gun based on a marui hi-cap or a WA SV? i'm guessing WA... is the marui suitable for IPSC?
What gun is he running?, it looks like a Hi Capa or 1911 (possible TM). If it is TM he got custom metal slides and he has his own custom airsoft surgeon scope mount (which is like $100). those clip holders are pretty sick

know wat brand is that and which model?
i want to get one and upgrade it more!
What kind of holster is that?
Is there a model available for a Glock 34?
i'm confused, IPSC does exist in Hong Kong I thought? (with real firearm), yet I see more airsoft version than real guns ones, is it because it's really expensive to be part of that sport? I have a feeling Clarence Lai would surely be part of the real ones?
Wow... Clarence Lai is a good shot.
I really want that new Limcat Open Class Redwolf just put out. But I'm flat broke so it'll have to wait. =\
I would love to see this guy as a cop!
thank God for limited and production
Wow, we should really take a letter from you, I mean you know ALL about guns, despite Clarence Lai being a real IPSC practitioner in both airsoft AND real steel arenas.

nice race pistol. and i also use iron sights

Is the second shooting scenario just encase the card game goes downhill
@ArmaLiteFanatic if you can fix guns then why cant you fix a crossman?
Wich one is the best replica to practice IPSC?
Complimenti! veramente bravi..
go go go clarance lai !!!
why does this pistol cost close to 3000$ when i could look for 2 minutes and find a gun with better stats for 50-100$?
@ArmaLiteFanatic search up the crossman c11 on airgundepot (.com) it has 480fps and a 18 rd mag. you're saying that with those stats, that you have to pay 3000$ more for a gun with similar stats?

umm we are talking about airsoft guns here, he has no risk of breaking his wrist from recoil so he can hold his gun any way he sees fit.
they know what they are doing...they are all about safety. it is Redwolf for chirst's sake!
this vid is kinda funny to me "shootah ar u retty" lol

Dont hate the player, hate the law. Here in hungary is very hard to get a real steel...
btw.. i Love IPSC and IDPA. 1911 RuleZ! :)
geez I didn't know clarence lai was an IPSC style shooter...
for you guys who don't think he's very professional, look at any videos of official IPSC stuff. he's no joke
Why so much fancy scopes and sights? I use iron sights.
The IPSC today is way too much about equipment.
Agree
@burningsponge Real IPSC gun would hit that price range also, and i dont know if your talking about airsoft or real steel, but no you cant find a better airsoft gun with better stats for 50- 100$ dont know what site you are looking at, but even the hi capa platform made by Tokyo Marui is already 150 USD

agreed.

you guys take this sport a bid to serious
Its probably built by airsoft surgeon or himself, seeing as airsoft surgeon is his sponser
I think saying unload and "clear", that is just his accent.
that';s the cool thing about airsoft, no recoil, even in gas pistols the recoil is just slight. There are r some hard kickers, but waste of gas
wow, I've never seen one from a sitting position to shoot.
weird, but someone bring him to the States so I can compete with him
@rpblcan haah thats what she said
Please...Airsoft is for DRY PRACTISE in IPSC@@
does he suppose to look nerdy?
why would i jealous of someone playing with toy guns while i have ones...
With a real recoil.. dropped his pants
Like the vid, but the accent is just overwhelmingly funny
There are plenty in the United States, except it's called USPSA and we use real guns. =D
@ArmaLiteFanatic so you're saying you cant take care of a gun? sad. i've owned a crossman for 2 years, it hasn't needed any replacement parts or severe matenance. if you cant take care of a gun you really shouldn't own another one that a person like you, could use the money for something more useful than a crappy bb gun, like say, a real gun maybe?
if his gun dosen't have recoil
dam hes fast, suck to play poker with him
how old are you? jw, aause your acting like my kid brother, whos about 13.

Mr. miagi
you should become a detective. Look into it in about 10 years when you get to college. Thats if you go of course...
Toche... go to Chinese restruants and Japanese restraunts ppl there is a major difference in accents (not to be racists or anything)
It amuses me how so many people think these guys are Japanese lol
Watch my videos, I'm not by any means a keyboard gangster, but I'm not a pro USPSA shooter either.

Someone who likes ISPC but lives in a country where they can't own guns.
@samprasfoon japanese cant do real IPSC because guns are banned in japan, hence why airsoft was invented in the first place.
@burningsponge a REAL IPSC Gun, would probably hit that range also =.=
are u weadyyyyyyyyyyyyy
.......just look @ it!!!! That is what is called a gas blow back pistol. Are you blind or something?
This guy doesnt even know how to hold the gun right
@aceshot how is it funny, they can easily be mixed up with other nationalities
