    This was recorded in the summer of 1956 for a Spoken Word Recording by Riverside. The interviewers were jazz writers Bill Grauer and Paul Bacon. Low budget - only one mic!

    Your favorite tenor players (Lester Young, Ben Webster, Dexter Gordon, Stan Getz, Michael Brecker, Kirk Whalum, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter) would not exist as the great tenor players that they are if it wasn’t for the pioneering genius of Coleman Hawkins.
