Your favorite tenor players (Lester Young, Ben Webster, Dexter Gordon, Stan Getz, Michael Brecker, Kirk Whalum, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter) would not exist as the great tenor players that they are if it wasn’t for the pioneering genius of Coleman Hawkins.
His voice completely matches how he looks, just how I imagined he would sound. An awesome piece of jazz history.
