Can we talk for a moment about how much this movie doesn't deserve a poster as aesthethically pleasing as the one it has? If you didn't saw it on the video lookup in the IMDb page, the poster is selling a completelly different movie. It has the main character in a lot of negative space like the _Napoleon Dynamite_ poster, promising a quirky indie comedy that's not at all what this movie is. It also has the faces of the supporting characters in rectangles of different colors as if they will have their own subplots and character arcs, a rainbow of human experience (when Nathan Krees is the only side-character with any kind of spotlight). Even the fonts, mimicking handwritting, promise something with its own identity and a distinctive voice. Not since the _Twillight_ bookcovers has a graphic designer misslead this much about the quallity of an story (and at least looking at the _Twillight_ covers you knew it was a dark romance, the _Alexander IRL_ poster is lying in our faces about the type of comedy it's selling us)

As someone who actually grew up in my teens with vine content, I knew by hand that if it features Brent, you know it has that quirky-ish 40yo trying to be funny with teenagers type of humor that used to work back in like, what? 2014-2015. Growing up, most of the kids around me seemed to have some kind of access to the internet, even if it was only through computer labs. I can still remember life before then, though the internet was still a Thing even before I started using it. But yeah, ultimately, the statement millennials were the last generation to remember life without the internet is true. Especially millennials that were born in the 80s, some of whom would have been born before the internet was invented or widely available. I guess it’s equivalent to the generation of kids who grew up with tv sets just starting to coming into homes. At first, only those who could afford it had a tv.

This is Brent’s movie, right? Then I think I know why Nathan was given a character like that with a lot of screen time. I’m gonna go conspiracy theorists here- So Brent has a mainly kid audience, and Nathan is an actor that kids grew up loving due to his time as Freddy from icarly. Hiring him would help bring more kids in to watch his movie, but he’s also the type of person who would want the audience to like him more at the end. How do you do that? Simple. Make the his character so stupid that it makes it seem like the actor himself is just bad at acting. Don’t get me wrong here, some of the things that Brent does aren’t great either, but he really made Nathan’s character seem so bad that I wondered how he could even be that bad. I don’t think it’s him. It’s Brent. He wants him to look bad so he looks better. That way Nathan’s fans will see him and in theory like him since he did “better” than Nathan. A lot of Nathan’s acting has a lot to do with the directors. Again, just a theory; but knowing what type of person Brent is and what he’s done before, I totally believe this

Then I think I know why Nathan was given a character like that with a lot of screen time.
I’m gonna go conspiracy theorists here-
So Brent has a mainly kid audience, and Nathan is an actor that kids grew up loving due to his time as Freddy from icarly.
Hiring him would help bring more kids in to watch his movie, but he’s also the type of person who would want the audience to like him more at the end.
How do you do that? Simple.
Make the his character so stupid that it makes it seem like the actor himself is just bad at acting. Don’t get me wrong here, some of the things that Brent does aren’t great either, but he really made Nathan’s character seem so bad that I wondered how he could even be that bad.
I don’t think it’s him. It’s Brent. He wants him to look bad so he looks better. That way Nathan’s fans will see him and in theory like him since he did “better” than Nathan.
A lot of Nathan’s acting has a lot to do with the directors.
Again, just a theory; but knowing what type of person Brent is and what he’s done before, I totally believe this

But the people who grew up on iCarly are adults now… I watched it as a kid and I’m 25 now. I think if anything it’s more of a nostalgia draw. But I fully agree with the rest of your assessment.
