Like you, i couldn't get into the saga series, tried some entries, but couldn't get into the series, until i played the demo yesterday and it sold me on the game.
Played the original. Lots of good changes and overhauls to maps and mechanics. Collecting materials and using them for crafting is new. Learning spells like moonlight after battle is new, and good because you needed the magic school for that later. Seven heroes back story is new, was a stage play in Japan only until now. Its exciting to see the game get a big budget for the remake.
@GenesisVII I was not familiar with Saga game until they released Romancing Saga 2 remastered on Nintendo Switch. Romancing Saga 2 was the reason to get into Saga games. The game was so much fun with non linear story progression. Please avoid any spoilers and enjoy discovering the non-linear game story progression and characters you meet according to the path that you choose. After that, I played Romancing Saga 3, Romancing Saga: Minstrel Song, etc. I loved this gaming series so much. I cannot wait to play Romancing SaGa 2 Remake. You are going to love it.
I heard this was coming out so I decided to pick up the original. While it is a bit hard to navigate the story of the older games I've had a lot of fun with the game mechanics and am super excited to play this Remake. This is my first Saga game. Traditionally an FF gamer.
Nice review, I played the Romancing Saga: Minstrel Song/Remaster, and I am also playing this one, I loved the music and the story also so many playable main character to clear ❤
I´m going to check it out over the weekend. This is one of my favorite games in the series. Played the fan translation and remaster numutous times. Once you stop caring and just go with the flow, SaGa realy can click. Just start a new playttough once you finish or stall.
Overall, I liked the demo. Played on normal mode and it's much more digestible than Minstrel Song, which I also enjoyed but the learning curve is much higher in that game. My only gripe is with the fake treasure chests, which take forever to fight at this stage. If they keep appearing, I hope there is a way to build your team to deal with them quickly.
This does look good! The 'Unite' and 'Formation' aspects remind me very strongly of the Suikoden series - especially V. (I love those games!) I'll definitely give this a go!
Playing this Demo at the same time as Metaphor: ReFantazio Demo and I keep getting their battle systems mixed up in my head. lol great time to be an RPG lover.
Does this have really bad level scaling like in the original? I remember that enemies level up based on the number of battles you do so it killed a lot of the enjoyability trying to manage not getting softlocked.
Ok I am going to try this, after some initial confusion lol, I think I tried SaGa Emerald Beyond the other month when that came out. I could not take to it at all so I written off the other Saga games lol thinking they would all be similar? But this looks a lot different and a lot more to my liking! I'll try the demo either way and I love Octopath Traveller.
@@GenesisVII OMG man, thank you so much for this recommendation. I just finished the demo...3 hours later. DAMN, I am hooked! This game is fantastic! I love all the customisation, the systems, the story, everything. It feels so damn good! Everything I want from a FF game seems to be in Square Enix's other series now. Oh man lol, I need this game!
First time I played a Romancing game and I also finished the Demo and loved it, it really clicked with me and will for sure be buying it! Loved the music, combat, voice acting, graphics etc.
I played th demo and it was a blast, but I have a question that's really confusing, I selected and named a character at the beginning, I never saw that character in the play through, is it an avatar or is it really a character in game?
@terrywebb2151 it's not random at all. You play through multiple generations throughout the course of this game. You have like. 200 characters or something. It's the story of an entire kingdom and it's quest to bring peace to the world.
@@GenesisVII i tried both the oringinal 2&3 and in both i was just wondering around with no direction. I might try them again with a guide before saga 2 remake comes out
@@michaelclifton9498 Yes, they are very good, but these games don't really hold us by the hand and the grind is monstrous. Still, it's worth making the effort without taking any big tips and little by little (with enough patience) discovering new things; Always talk to the NPCs, they have all the information you need for the journey.
I’m kinda confused isn’t the demo available for everyone or just a select few? Because I know for a fact I was able to play this as soon as you posted this
I believe the final product will be turning out good, but tbh, the demo was pretty bad. They didnt tell any relevant features, like character recruitments, HQ building, and character heir system
Well, I'm not surprised - graphic never was the strong aspect of JRPGs, unless they have a hand drawn or pixelart-style - then they look pretty amazing sometimes but they nearly never excel in 3D graphics...I wonder why they are still going with 3D graphics when they can only pale in comparison with other PS4 / PS5 games...but the game looks fun gameplay-wise that's why I won't let the graphics deter me from trying the game.
@@angelsfan1985 i mean, it doesn't look bad, and graphics are something secondary in a videogame, just because is not a AAA doesn't mean is not great lol
Yesss the DEMO IS OUT! This preview dropped the same time as the demo release to clear up any confusion!
Have you played!? Let me know your thoughts!!
So they are cooking well with this one, then again I expected no less from the studio that gave us Trials of Mana Remake
Dude demo is great soon as I heard it dropped I downloaded it
It really surprised me!
I really enjoyed the demo

I think this is the one that'll finally get me into the series!
The Romancing SaGa entries were pretty close to a "normal RPG" as you could get so I know that was going to be great
Its pretty good. I reccomend it for turn based lovers. Oh I'm new to the series to. It's only $50 so I'm supporting. 🎉

let's play orginal mode
As a player of the psp remake I am looking forward to learning new formations and how we will be forging new weapons and armor
This does look good! The 'Unite' and 'Formation' aspects remind me very strongly of the Suikoden series - especially V. (I love those games!) I'll definitely give this a go!
The demo gave a great first impression for me. I pre ordered it immediately after playing the demo

I canceled my Raynatis pre-order for this without hesitation. Also don't sleep on the Tales of Grace f remaster coming up in January.
I won't. I actually own in on PS3, got about half way through, the remaster is my excuse to complete it!
I loved Minstrel Song on PS2 so I got the remaster. You got me interested in this remake.
romancing saga 2 and 3 is much better than minstrel song

Gameplay got me surprised to be honest. But I don’t know how the plot is

He's the character you play on the last generation. You don't see him the whole game but everything you do is to power him up.
@@youtubecrack haha, that's pretty random. Thanks for the reply on this. 👍
I assumed it was because the demo presented events out of order. Demos can be weird like that.

Wouldn't be surprised if that was the big Saga release of '25.
Yea this is a great one to look out for kinda puts the other rpgs to shame
So glad this one clicked for me
So I played the demo my only question is I stopped gaining xp at a certain point, I guess in the release it won’t cut off at random like that?
Yeah I think it's because you can carry the save to the full game and they don't want you to be OP maybe?
The demo states that you stop getting Tech Points after I think it was 70 battles. It’s likely to keep you from getting to overpowered.
