  • In this first episode of Sull'Acqua, we chronicle from the early moments of learning the boat was near ready, to the time we get word it's ready, to the driving it from St. Clair Shores, MI to Milwaukee, WI.

I have been searching all the web just to see a real family experience the Navetta lifestyle. There are a lot of tours but I just wanted to see what it was like to live in one. Great video, would love to see some more.

I recently posted a video tour in this UA-cam channel: ua-cam.com/video/zEYlt1ZqvRY/v-deo.html
I will also have a full Lake Michigan tour posting sometime soon.

Yep. I seem to only find Nordhavn and sailing cat families. Glad I came across this channel.

The first video of yours (#5) I watched just prior to viewing this one. I was impressed with everything as I commented. This being my 2nd video I am no less taken. The two of you should be proud of yourselves as well as your boat. Great choice! Can't wait to have the opportunity to view more.
A big thank you for having us onboard and a hello from your newest subscriber in St.Louis.

Love the video. We currently have a Palm Beach. I boat some of the same waters from Door County! We are also thinking of the Navetta. Would love to chat, send me a message.

Not often you see a modern yacht in real seas from onboard. Took the waves at 9:00 without much of any spray on the deck.

What a great video, thanks for sharing such a memorable occasion! Have been looking at the Navetta model range and the 52 looks to be a perfect size. 2 questions if I may, what is the overall height of it? I’m thinking at some point doing the loop, and I’m aware of a bridge that has 19ft of clearance. This looks taller? And does your yacht have the dock assist? If so, your thoughts on it? Thanks!

I'm glad you enjoyed the video. We have had the plan to do the Great Loop, too--though we may end up just doing the East Coast side from Great Lakes to Florida/Bahamas. Here are the measurements I discovered when I measured myself: 23'11" from waterline to top of navigation light. 21'9" with navigation light tilted down. I'm having a hydraulic hinge installed this spring to replace the whole radar/antenna mast and am told that will lower it to 20'3" from waterline--perhaps a little shorter. It will be tight, but it comes down to the height of the water at time of passing under that notorious bridge.

Great Video. I really like this boat and it is on my short list (along with a couple other Absolute models). The Saginaw bay crossing looks like our typical waters here. What was your cruise speed through that stretch?

Mark, when we cruised that area in that video we were in the process of bringing the boat from St. Claire Shores to Milwaukee, WI. Thus, we went relatively quickly. Our cruise speed was about 18-21kt. Top speed for the boat is about 23kt. The weather was "sporty," so had to slow it down sometimes and then pick it up other times. We'll be coming back that way this coming summer--can't wait! Beautiful area.

@@sidetwo6207 Thanks for the reply. The dealers and some online tests quote closer to 26/27 knots as top speed for your boat probably lightly loaded. I'm still trying to figure out the absolute model line differences as the fly bridge models and navetta models, for the same length, have very similar layouts and very little difference in performance. And within the flybridge line the 47 is only 1'10" shorter than the 50 and actually has more beam where both have the same power. I'll be following your series as you are living what I'd love to be doing in the northeast atlantic.

Sorry-my earlier reply was from another UA-cam channel I manage (SideTwo). Still me though.
We have hit speeds up to 26kts, but of course that has to have the right conditions-from how much weight from fuel and water, as well as guests, as well as sea conditions, etc.
I totally agree that Absolute hasn’t necessarily articulated the differences clearly from the Navetta to the Fly versions. Layouts have a lot of similarities. My understanding from Absolute is the analogy of “consumer grade” (Fly version) vs “commercial grade” (Navetta version) in terms of materials. I’m not so sure about that analogy, but I would say that the Navetta fit our lifestyle better-that being a trawler styling with the ability to get up and go if needed. We love cruising along at 10-12 kts and soaking in the lifestyle. You can look at lots of data points and come away with nuances of differences, but ultimately you need to love the boat for what it does for your lifestyle. We knew immediately that the Navetta was perfect for our goals and lifestyle.
Biggest selling feature for me is the unobstructed vertical windshield. It’s a game changer for visibility for me. No more slouching to see through angled glass. The view is spectacular.
      Hope that helps.
