If you cannot eat your main meals, except breakfasts, without yogurt then (with all due respect to your Mexican origins and ancestry) you truly became one of us. Eating yogurt this way may look strange to someone who are not familiar with the Turkish food culture, but once you acquire the taste you always seek the taste of yogurt when you eat certain dishes. I hope you will see its health benefits in the long-run. All the best.

Things you might want to add to the list. A balcony, a giant tv (it’s a must), layers of curtains (one should really splurge here), a couch (the grander the better) and sockets in the most random places. A Deprem bag would also make sense. In Istanbul it would definitely be a folding camp chair, and in Kadikoy in particular - a rusty bike in a shared basement 😂

Having watched both of your videos on this topic, I can point out six things in my Wife's home when I met her.
    1) Sandals.
    2) Carpets.
    3) Turkish Flag (Later, When She Learned She's Of Turkish Descent).
    4) Bidet. (Although set up differently because we live in Canada).
    5) Yogurt (Lots Of It).
    6) Plates For Breakfast.
And yet my stepdaughter, has a cat. As you most likely realized, my Wife is of Turkish Descent; and I am of Sephardic Jewish Descent (In my case I have a Mezuzah on our doorpost, and a Hanukkiah -Menorah To Celebrate Hanukkah-).

In Portugal, every newly built bathroom must also have a bidet, although I still have to see (or hear) somebody really using it... But they are there, usually gathering dust and being just another object you have to clean 🤗

Hi Bery. Things that we would add to list found in every Turkish home : Nazar Boncugu ("Evil Eye"), Potrait of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk ("Father of the Turks"), the Turkish Flag to be flown on Independence Day and other important days, Terlik (house slippers) and plenty of Kolonya ! 👍🇹🇷

Afghan families also have these similar things: Prayer Rug, Quran, Tesbih, Gold, Bidet, Tea Glasses. But there are tre things different from afghan and Turkish culture: Not Yogurt, families don't like Cat, afghans families don't have plates for breakfast.

Hello Bery. I am planning on visiting Istanbul next year, and I have a question: How would a tourist who speaks no Turkish find a Backgammon game? And is there a neighborhood with good quality backgammon boards and players?

In Istanbul you'll find people in the shops that speak some English so it wouldn't be difficult for you to communicate with shop staff👍🏽

Hi, I traveled to several places in Turkey as a solo female a couple of times in the last 2 years and I really reccommend going. I always felt safe, its actually a lot safer than many big european cities to be honest that i travelled to. It was great and I would definitely travel to Turkey again by myself. Have fun on your trip :)
