I have about 150 hours on the mower and I agree on the suspension. I mow about 4 acres and much of it was pasture and bumpy. I ordered the Trac Seat suspension kit from Amazon and it was a direct fit. The model I purchased was a direct fit and required no modifications. This improved the ride and suspension greatly. Overall very pleased with the mower.
I agree on the seat suspension should be addressed. The engine is fine for me but I bought the z254. Would have much rather have had the FX engine with canister air filter. The other negative for me is lack of grease fittings on spindles. The price was great especially with a big sale at Northern Tools.
Good review ...on engine size i totally agree. I have a cub cadet non zero turn mower its the xt1 50 fab deck the engine seem comparable .good for the xt1 though if it were a 60 inch heavier mower like this not so good. Mine is much smaller.
@@mithgo_outdoor 😂 I hear you, brother. I got used to them years ( decades, now ) ago.....especially with my hands on the levers, I rest my elbows on them instead of letting my arms hang while mowing. Only thing is, with the new style of grab stick I use for trash while sitting on the mower, I keep it on the right side, and it is a little awkward with that right arm rest down..... I have to fab up a mount to hold that....
Being 65 and having both knees replaced having your knees above your butt is not optimal for getting out of a seat. That would definitely be a concern for me
The Cub Cadet and DEWALT mower lineups are completely different. Yes they’re owned by the same parent company, but they’re not manufactured from the same parts bin.
@@mithgo_outdoor Dewalt is owned by Stanley who also owns MTD. Its a MTD product for sure. Look at the decal with the model and serial number. It will say MTD Cleveland OH.
@@mithgo_outdoor This mower is almost identical to the cub cadet Ultima ZT4 and ZT5 wither only different is the cub cadet has led headlights everything else is the same.
@@ETXWheelsinMotion I’ve had this conversation many times over now. If you compare them side by side you would see they’re not the same. Frame and design are completely different. I’ve even gotten confirmation from Stanley Black & Decker they’re not from the same parts bin.

Love dewalt products, always have but never thought about having a mower from them. This was an awesome review. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you

Thanks for your feedback Mark!
Mitchell thanks for a well thought out and honest review. That's hard to come by today. Keep up the great content. Have a great week.
Thanks for the support !! Have a great week as well.

Thanks for tuning in
I am jealous I would love to have one of the machines
It still involves upper body strength, but those arm rests are for assistance getting out of the seat, more than those drive levers....
Yes, they would offer some assistance you're correct. I just can't use them...I constantly hit my arms on them while mowing and it drives me bonkers.

Great review ! Question on your shop. What's the manufacturers name for the Roll Up 12 x 14 door? Is it insulated?
I forget the name of the company that made the doors, call Renegade and they'll be able to help. Yes it's insulated
Awesome review and insight on the mower. I agree with having a bigger engine on it
Thanks for tuning in bud
Why does it seem so difficult to acquire the Z254?
I don't know sorry, reach out to a dealer and see if they can help you.
That's an MTD product all day. The footrest, driving bars, and control panel are straight off of a Cub Cadet.
👍
Is a main brand making their mowers for them or all done in house?
DEWALT is owned by Stanley - Black & Decker. Cub Cadet assists with the manufacturing, but they are not rebranded Cubs
@@mithgo_outdoor are they better built than Cub?
@@codyrobinson22 I've not done a side-by-side comparison.
@@mithgo_outdoor So it is a cheap Club Cadet or Hustler?
What other blades are compatible besides dewalt blades
That's a great question Daniel, one that I don't have an answer for. Would be something your local DEWALT dealer could help you with I'm certain!
Dewalt Mowers Are Cool
they have a great line-up!
Looks like they took cub cadets entire lineup and mixed it together.

U need at least 27 plus power for
A 60 inch deck
Yes, in the video I mentioned that I would like to see 27hp minimum...29hp would be ideal. Flipside to this, it would increase the cost of the mower.
@@mithgo_outdoor it's needs be a fx series engine on it
Well, it’s the “Wright” color anyway👌🏼
Thanks for tuning in!
Another downfall not enough dealers
All depends on where you live I suppose. There are several places to buy them around me.
I built that lol
Work at the plant?
@@mithgo_outdoor yep. Work on the only line and only shift that makes those. 100 percent I put on your deck, front and back wheels and back bumper lol
I honestly had no clue dewalt made a mower. Seems like a product they treat as an afterthought.
They certainly don't treat it as an afterthought. They've been in the OPE scene for many years now.
Looks like a rebranded cub cadet.
If you put all of the Cub Cadets next to it, there are no similarities. It is its own mower, not a rebranded Cub
