They complain to us, as they understand our mindset , it buys them sympathy, and they believe that Israel, as a last remainder of colonisation will stop being a Jewish entity once it is considered a the paria nation, same as South Africa stopped being a colonial state once the world turned against it.

His knowledge and perspective is so helpful. There are few people able to put this conflict into such a humanist view. He’s quite incredible. I like his podcast, but it’s very much aimed at people who have little understanding. It’s certainly a great service to his country and his people; but I haven’t seen him light up with the fire of a vision the way he does in this conversation. I hope he will do more conversations like this on his channel. I also love that he is clearly a feminist. He talks about women in a way that makes me want to cry with relief. He definitely understands the utter devastation I felt when I saw Shani Louk’s body being treated that way; and how angry I was when I saw people trying to minimise or justify that as some kind of revolutionary act.

I love what he said about people in Israel who want peace to learn Arabic and to learn Hebrew to be able to cross over to that heart level of communication that's so lacking right now. I grew up in Houston, Texas in the 1980's and my best friends came from Muslim familues, who were always so lovely to me.
They were the best students then, throughout high school and university.
The huge Farsi-speaking professional community hosted the sophisticated Iranian Film Festival every year, and Pakistani doctors and engineers made education a number 1 priority for their kids too, along with those of their Indian friends.
My friends had match-makers in their mosques but it was not forced, more like organized in ways in which the women also had a say, and none of my friends were against it; it was a help
    in finding the right person.
I went to many Henna nights and weddings and never was I treated with anything but affection (and to amazing cuisine).
Years later I moved to Europe and was shocked to see a totally... different kind of group here - one with people like those I knew, but as a minority within a greater community with a very different set of priorities and way of life.
It pains me to see what can happen to what I knew to be a wonderful, open, educated, affectionate, respectful culture.
You give me hope that there is still hope for different peoples to get along and even be friends!
Thank you for every precious episode from this lazy Catholic!

Short anecdote about trying to reach across and talk to Palestinians: I tried. I had Palestinian students that I liked a lot. I started chatting up a young Palestinian who worked in my building, after months of short conversations, I had one deeper. Within five minutes, he told me gays cause earthquakes, and if his brother came out of the closet, he would hunt him down. He started asking if I was gay.
Obviously not all Palestinians are like that, but that had very quickly turned into a much scarier scene

Sometimes our experience of a conversation is different to the other person’s. Actually, when someone gets angry in a conversation like this, it’s often because a nerve has been struck; and the acting out is the cognitive dissonance when they see an idea for the first time. Please don’t feel that you need to do anything different or pursue conversation which is unsafe (not in a feeling sense but in an existential sense). I think this does trickle down into consciousness. Whether you think about it this way or not, you’ve posed the question “if you want me to care about you as an equal, why don’t you extend that to other people?” Ultimately anyone who has a personal social justice cause, and genuine humanitarian sentiment will find themselves questioning this; and it’s the cumulative effects of podcasts and conversations like you had that helped someone like Mossab Hassan Yousef make the life changing course corrections that they choose.
People who haven’t yet seen it his debate with Marc Lamont Hill pls watch ua-cam.com/video/5XW-ohDnPgM/v-deo.html&pp=ygUhbW9zc2FiIGhhc3NhbiB5b3VzZWYgZGViYXRlIHdpdGgg
Also I’m about to watch this new one, even though Cenk makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up with his arrogantly flippant attitude toward people he disagrees with, I’ll watch it because Mossab deserves everyone’s ear.

    • @demonking86420

@@freedahlogic8368 The fact Cenk still puts out all the propagandic news slop, it, in my opinion, proves clearly that the anti-Israel (the ones who don't necessarily support Hamas directly) crowd's main argument, "Criticism of Israel is banned", is utter lies.

Not to genocide. God is not a murderer and didn’t say to kill innocent Palestinians more than 100k , destroy the city of 2 million people, starve them to death people in return for kidnapping 1000. This is wrong and by the way Israel is the name God gave Jacob and his ancestors and Abraham was a righteous man not a murderer. Israel are a people that lived on a land, not the land. And God created all of us, no one is more or less. Israelies are not worth more to God than Palestinians that is their big ego.. God will deal with them who have made him look like an evil person when He is the God of justice.

I noticed that Yirmiyahu Danzig got constructive pushback from a Nigerian Non-Muslim and an Iranian ex-Muslim.
Sarah also dipped into the "non-identity" aspect of being Persian, not Arabic, and being 1000% unwelcome in any Muslim country the moment she would step foot in one.
My personal experience is with two young Palestinian students i met in the US. One was kind, conservative, and dismayed by White Women at University coming on to him to have sex with them and cheat on his wife, who was overseas, and then being ANGRY because he wouldn't cheat on his marriage.
(I was frankly surprised at that degree of cultural bigotry.) His story was of living in Gaza and being unjustly victimized by Israeli rule. What I couldn't tell him at the time was that blowback from the violent intifada seemed unfair, but understandable in light of the suffering.
Yasmine has spoken about the freedom that her father enjoyed in Gaza and Israel before terrorism begin boiling.
The other Palestinian guy stealthily physically injured me, when his friend wasn't looking. Not a serious injury, but enough to let me know. He knew I was of Jewish ethnicity, he knew I was an activist on his side, and he knew I was invited to smoke tobacco in a hookah. Yet his RELIGION told him he had to "shove me to the side of the road" in his living room, as this was Muhammad's example for how to deal with Jews.
I believe now is that this threat of Islamic fundamentalist restoration will never completely go away, and it will always be on the back burner, ready to emerge and rampage against Jews. I would love to be wrong.

Fun fact about the first Judean commonwealth and the Caribbean:
Columbus was trying to get to India. Knowing that some of the Jews were exiled from the first commonwealth to east Asia, some historians believe that he took a Jewish translator with him, to speak Hebrew with the local Indian Jews. Possibly some of the dumb things Columbus believed about the Caribbean he "discovered" is due to that failed attempt to translate

In this case though, I don't have much hope as long as there are people with an agenda to exterminate their perceived enemy as described in old and outdated books that should have been made obsolete a long time ago. Someone is gaining from the game of Divide and Conquer, but it's not the ordinary humans. Everybody has to do a deep soul-searching evaluation, but I have a hard time believing that those with a rigid mind and settled view of the world will do that. So we are back at square one on this. One huge thing - thanks to Yirmiyahu for speaking of it - is the opinions and indulgent ignorance of the not so innocent bystanders. Sun Tzu said it best more than 2000 years ago: to win the war you need to know both yourself and the enemy. Too many individuals in the West still believe democracy and/or capitalism won, and that everybody wants to live the American Dream. That is very far from the truth. To win this war against medieaval thought patterns of conquest and oppression due to what someone or other said 1500 years ago, is what we need to do. And that requires us to go beyond ingrained indeological programming and see ourselves and The Other in all our glory and disgrace. Not a conquest of the minds of our enemies to make them into copies of ourselves. There are psychiatric terms for that kind of behaviour. Can we heal ourselves and regain our humanity?

around 28:00 to around 30:00 it is inaccurate to have said that the problem is that people ie Arabs living in the Land and near have not met a Jew or Jews. Well about 20,000 people came from Gaza daily for work including thousands working in The Envelope the 22 or so communities which were violently assaulted on Oct 7, 2023. Further it is known that at least 100s of those workers had been working for more than a year to provide detailed maps and information about virtually every house, building, family so that the marauders, rapists, murderers, vile violent 3000 men could carry out the attacks on that day. This single oversight in your communication is a mere hint that a LOT of this well-intended conversation has some VERY wrong about it. The guest should have spoken up to clarify that multiple 1000s did not only meet but knew and worked with 1000s of Jewish people on a daily basis. Your well-intended conversation illustrates that even you two too live in a Cognitive Dissonance bubble.

I wish I didn't have to agree, but I do. Unfortunately October 7th showed all of this optimism and idealism to be unfounded in reality. Perhaps you can get individuals who are truly constructively minded, but the problem is that you can't tell who they are and the consequences for guessing wrong are very severe

Exactly. That bothered me too! Yirmiyahu seems to be full of wishful thinking, and that could be dangerous if people don't see the Islamists for what they are. He also talked about all belief systems being malleable (or words to that effect) but Islam is not able to be 'modernised' in the same way that other belief systems have been. The Quran is believed by Muslims to be the *immutable* word of Allah. We have to educate Muslims to question Islam until apostasy reaches a tipping point, and then the whole ideology will come falling down. At 1:05:46 the Nigerian caller Tochi made a lot of sense to me too! This is a global issue and it can't be solved by well-meaning Israelis alone.

When I was in uni I participated in a dialogue group. It made me realize how vastly different the narratives are. At one point we were encouraged to offer ideas for further activities. I was happy to participate in activities that would educate me regarding the expiriences of Arabs/Palestinians in the 48 war for example, but when I offered an activity like a hiking group that would provide a neutral setting for people to get to know each other on a human level, that was shot down. I felt really disheartened. I thought the idea was bridging the gap and creating relationships but I realized that anything that wasn't about recruting Jews to the pre-established Palestinian narrative was not seen as acceptable, and any Jew who wasn't doing the talking points of the nationalism of the other side was not seen as an ally anymore... and let me be clear, we were all considered the most far left individuals in our society, but that wasn't good enough unless we erased our own self regard and experiences. I came out from it with the feeling that they didn't care about us on a human level but only as tools to further their agenda.. which made me understand that I had no place in their vision for this land.. and I gave up.

Thanks to Sara Ghorbani for pointing out the distinctions when it comes to islam and the legal status of the apostates, those who have left this ideology (not religion: it is a legal system, a social system and a so called spiritual system). I know a few muslims. Nice and caring mostly, but I have also seen some of them showing a very different face when they think I don't see them, and that has been something to make me aware and keep a distance. I'm sure there are genuinely friendly muslims out there, but the thing is, an outsider cannot know the true hearts and minds of them all, and anybody can study history and see the trends over time in relation to average percentages of muslims in any non-muslim society. We can't know what is hudna or taqqiyah, or a genuine wish to evolve their faith to become a constructive force in cooperation with people outside of their ummah. Neither are we helped by the ignorant or stupid leftists who cooperate with them on the grounds that they have a common goal of destroying western civilisation.

Calling Arabs "Palestinians," which is not an Arab name is fueling the Jihadi ideology for which the brandname was devised. Once things settle down... eventually, Inshallah, perhaps Dr Kedar's Arab tribal enirates (like the UAE) might work. Call it West Ordon Emirates, or whatever. But dont call them "Let's demolish the Jewish State" (which is what "Palestine" means to millions). Arab-Israelis is an altogether differnt entity, an equal-rights minority.
To distinguish from Normalization Peace, which was created for the Abraham Peace Accords, by contrast,
Islamist Peace = totalitarian, total Submission. Another important nuance to rememeber.

We can't really unify the Israeli education system since we are geographically divided with few exceptions like Lod, Jaffa, Acre, and even there, the neighborhoods are sub divided. We really do most things together, but I leave in one side of the road and they on the other. Jews wouldn't enjoy much the 5am loudspeaker call of the Muezzin, also Arabs hate parking cars at 90° or in a single parking lot.

    • @happinin07
      @happinin07 2 місяці тому

The education system is not just fractured by geography, there are real difference in what students learn in school. In the Galil, students bus to school typically outside of their town or village. They travel to a secular school, religious school, or to Arabic speaking school of their region. All of whom have different educational content, and whose students have different images of what their future will be (secular Jews know they will be drafted). I don't think its that far fetched for there to be a more unified system. Of course self-segregation happens, like anywhere else in the world.

@@happinin07 I completely agree with you, yet at home we are quite different and it's a beautiful thing. October 7th Israeli Arabs reaction tells a success story, there is a extremely delicate situation and I would not touch a thing. Israeli Arabs are integral to Israel society. They don't openly identify with Hamas nor it shows by their actions and I completely trust it's not another peace fantasy. Shared system could very easily be used by agitators as a Zionist tool of silencing or indoctrination, currently it's not perfect and far from it, but if ain't broken don't fix it. After the October 2000 events, as a Galilee resident, we all got shocked to the core to see how volatile this harmony can be shattered, it was traumatic for Arabs and Jews alike.

The return of Jews to the land of Isreal was foretold thousand of years ago, and this time, never to be displaced again. And so why do the numerous ethno-religious states surrounding Israel "get to claim it as theirs alone" when the Arab Muslim majorities achieved power and dominance by ethnic cleansing and "disappearing" the older cultures and religions there/
My God....just look at the demongraphics for the indigenous Greek, Armenian and Assyrian Christians of Anatolia, now Turkiye. Look at what is happening to the Copts of Egypt, Yazidis, Zoroastrians, also Jewish communities who had been living in those countries for thousands of years were exterminated from Yemen, Iraq, Morocco..
I am not Jewish or Muslim, but I cannot no longer bear the hypocrisy of the claims made against Israel by those who are silent when it comes to other nations that when judged by the same standards, have FAR LESS RIGHT TO EXIST than Israel. The Islamic Republic of Pakistan, look what they did to the much older Hindu population there.
Your logic has a couple problems: first when you say "the Palestinians and their descendants ALWAYS inhabited it. This shows that you do not even know the history of this region, otherwise you would not make such a claim. But it's hard to blame people like you when the Pro-P propaganda goes from one very desperate and obvious lie ("Jesus was a Palestinian"....you mean the most famous Jew who ever lived, in JUDEA (Land of the Jews) before it was ever called Palestine, was a Palestinian?
Furtthermore, the Jews don't claim it as their own. And they more any any other ethno-religious group in world history, would have every justification to only allow Jews to live there. They had their capital cty and holy temple destoyed by foreign invaders, were forced from their homeland to live as usually second class citizens around the world, at the mercy of a majority ready to scapegoat them for every problem, subject them to pogroms, camps and other horrors.
Despite this incredibly awful way to be treated, when the Jews began returning to their ancestral homeland, they made every effort for peace. The Mslms rejected this at every turn, because while they can take the entire middle east by far more violence than Israel has done, how dare those Jews want a tiny piece of land that represents 0.4 percent of the middle east, to create another sovereign Jewish state like the ancient kingdoms of Judah and ISRAEL, so that they will not continue to be blamed for every social ill and continue to be expelled, attacked and erased. Yes, how incredibly selfish of the Jews for wanting this.
Did you know that in Israel, 20 percent of the population is Arab Muslim? Who have the exact same rights as Jewish Israelis, who have been appointed to the highest positions in government, military, and judiciary? You will not find this same equality in any Islamic state, from Saudi Arabia to Pakistan to Egypt.
I am so sick and tired of the constant lies being spread about Israel and the Jewish people, the constant attempts to question their right to a sovereign state in their ancestral homeland-a reality for many other nations around the world take for granted, because they are not surrounded by nations steeped in 1400 of J hatred.
I am so sick and tired of the double standards to which Israel is held to account. How other nations that have recently and are still commiting ACTUAL genocides, are completely ignored by the mainstream media and selective outrage "humanitarian" protestors, who never bothered to get off their asses for the Syrians, Yemen, what Azerbaijan did to the Armenians, the Uyghur camps in China. Only when Israel and the Jews are involved, even though yet again they did not start this war, do anti-Semites around the world get exicted and think they can cloak their ancient hatred of the J in the guise of "humanitarianism' and "de-colonization".
Well, the pro-P anti-Israel crowd have succeeded so far in that they have my attention. I live in a very woke progressive city. The day after news broke around the world of the carnage that Hamas had unleashed on Israeli civilians, a protest had already formed on a bridge in the downtown area. The Israeli people were still reeling in shock and trauma, and these (I will get banned for the names I want to call them) did not even have the humanity to put their unhinged hatred on hold for even one day: they were celebrating. I saw on social media, again in the days before Israel entered Gaza thousands of comments saying "Happy October". That same day in Sydney Australia, a crowd of thousands chanted "Gas the J, F the J".
I cannot stand these people, and it is disturbing to see how many woke "progressive" protestors who preach about hate speech, minority rights stand hand in hand with the Islamists openly calling for essentially a repeat of October 7, but on a much larger scale. From seeing interviews of these useful idiots around the world on what they know about the history of the region and the current conflict, a majority of them cannot answer the most basic facts. They are happy to hold up signs and protest about a subject they know very little of. For myself, the kaffiyeh now represents the swastika, and that's coming from non-Jewish secular gay man. This has only strengthened my resolve to do whatever I can to refute the lis being told.
Oh, and one more thing. Those so-called indigenous :"Palestinians" were never referred to as such until the 1960's; they were referred to as Arab Muslims by every state that ruled the region (Ottomans, Mamluks, etc), but after they attacked Israel, and were defeated yet again, they decided to rebrand themselves as a distinct ethnic groups, so that now Israel, always a minority, were now seen as the majority oppressor. Most of the "palestinians" came from Egypt, Jordan and other countries during the Zionist movement because the Jews turned what was an inhospitable land full od swamps and desert, into a thriving state, so Arabs began moving there for economic opportunities.
And these "palestinians" have been offered their own state at least five times, and turned it down every time. So who is the true obstacle to peace here? It isn't Israel or the Jews. At the very least, this horrible tragedy has opened the world's eyes to the depravity on display by the pro-P protests. Unlike the Russia Ukraine protests, where were focused solely on the Putin administration, the pro-P crowd has repeatedy attacked Jewish people in their own communities around the world.
I stand with Israel and the Jewish people, and after everything I have witnesses since last year, it is clear that the majority of these people don't know the history and given the chance, they would celebrate another
Oct 7 on a nauinal scale.
