Champion Rob! Trying to fix my cassette was a frustrating and fiddly experience but thanks to you it's fixed and working well!

    Thanks for your help!
I would like to point out that some of the most crucial steps to reset the ink tape loop are at 4:56 and 6:17.
Don't forget to tighten the ink tape a little by turning the screw before closing everything up and that the dull side needs to go towards the sticker tape!

Great video Rob, I scored a bunch of cartridges like this one with disconnected ink tapes.
I figured out how this happens in the first place. The black ink tape passes just underneath where the cutting blade in the unit passes. If the ink tape bunches up instead of being retracted by the machine, then the next time you cut a label, you end up cutting both the white tape and the thermal black ink tape.
So basically never put in a cartridge with loose black ink tape. Wind it so it's taught and then insert it.

Bob thank you so much for sharing how you repaired the Dymo cartridge tape. Learning from your technique I found a simpler way without opening the cartridge.
All required is to have at least an inch and a half of the black tape carefully pulled out at both ends. Once you have both ends, apply a small piece of thin double-sided tape or carefully apply a small amount of Tombow mono permanent adhesive to one end of the black tape. Carefully match, align, and stick the two ends of the black tape together. Guide the white tape through the two tabs on the cartridge. Finally, wind in the black tape as you illustrated and the repair is complete.
The difficult part of this repair is matching, aligning, and sticking the two ends of the black tape together correctly.

    Thanks! It worked!
I did all that just to realise i think the label roll wasn't lined up properly into the guides on the exit of the cassette, like it warns on a visual sticker on the cassette itself. Didnt need to open anything, but hey that was fun i guess.

Sorry, you need to get a cartridge in front of you and take it apart. All the intermediate states are visible. You can do it.

so this Cassett has ink .. look like has 2 tape (1 black the ink, and 1 white the label) i have other DYmo that the casseette only has the white label, because the machine i have Dymo Letratag has a termal head that print in the white label.. so i think is more new model the one i have is = Dymo LetraTag 100H

Now I know the thermal ink is as long as the label spool. Yeah, with no-name 5 packs making per cassette cost about $3, I'll chuck a busted ine into my pellet targets box.

Too much hands and wrist. Not a good video.
Careful not to lose the spring washer (the shiny thing) that sits under the ink tape spool. I think it is there to provide a small resistance to the ink tape when being fed. Photograph the tape layout before you start repairing the ink tape. Another D1 cartridge that has a transparent casing helps. If you open the cartridge a bit too vigorously the tapes will fall out and you’ll need a better guide than this video to reassemble it correctly.
Like he said in his comments, that are attached to his video, there is nothing else on the Internet to help you with this fix. He does apologise for the hands.
I do recommend giving this fix a try. It’s not that hard to do; I’ve done it. Waste not, Want not!

LOL, sorry I see what you mean. Next time will put the camera between my hands instead of to the side. Hopefully I managed to show the key steps / waypoints in between the manipulations.
