Cried several times through this. This is my heart! Thank you so so much for doing your podcast. As someone who has worked in the industry and a worship leader and worship songwriter - l struggle so much with the balance of it all and this just made me feel in such good company. Thanks to you both for sharing honestly.

God has always been my Everything. And my life has always belonged completely to Him:)And that will never ever change. And He has always been way more than enough for me. And that will never ever change:)@Rita Springer

45:37 Listening to your interview with Mitch and his description of writing in hiddeness made me think and remember. I’m not a songwriter but I am a writer and a poet. Poetry for me involves exactly the same process and spending time with God in the secret place is where it’s safe to process and allow Holy Spirit to show me what I cannot see within the situation, trauma, or pain. Words are powerful and as long as I yield to Him, He gives me the words or vision that ministers to me and later to others who read those words. Amazing! 🙌

Rita, that is what the bridge of Defender does for me. It plays over and over in my head..."When I thought I'd lost me. you knew where I'd left me...and You reintroduced me to your love. You picked up all the pieces and put me back together"........

Thanks Rita for the wonderful interview with Mitch. Two things stand out for me. First that Mitch learnt how to play the piano in the quiet, hidden place in God, and that you still 'sweat bullets' when you're asked to play in certain contexts. Both of those hit hard, as they mirror my own walk since the UK lockdown in 2020. I learnt how to play in the hidden place, and then was thrown in the deep-end not long after. I also 'sweat' the same bullets when asked to play in different contexts, other than those I am normally found in. Imposter syndrome is a constant battle. So, thank you! These interviews are really helpful.

Wow this is so timely! I’ve been talking about this celebrity Christianity idea lately. (Michael Brown just put out a good podcast on this) You hit the nail on the head regarding priesthood vs performer! May we be motivated by our First Love and the Fear of the Lord!!!!

Oh my goodness! This is amazing! I’m just a singer in my church worship group, but my primary calling is to intercede, and when the voice goes and I’m too old to keep that going, the intercession will be my go to. BUT I sing as a prayer, I sing with a heart’s desire for breakthrough and I’m not done yet with where God wants to take me with learning to bring the people to the Lord and then step back and watch Him and them meet each other. The priesthood is crucial, the hiddenness is crucial, and don’t do any of this if you are missing this out xx Its too important xx

Rita! I never thought I would get the opportunity to thank you for the place your music has played in my life. “Created to Worship” has a special place in my heart. It is the soundtrack for a monumental year with the Lord (1999) and remains, for me, the model for unpretentious worship. Thank you!

Grammy award? I see he helped with the CC believe for it project. That's awesome. I wonder if CC is a Christian ? Rita is very judgmental calling Mitch Wong a man of God. I would say it takes a lot of thought to conclude that somebody has been born of God , since everybody is born spiritually dead, somehow Rita has discerned this man is on his way to heaven, God did a supernatural miracle in his heart. ~I can tell and that's why I called him a man of God~ Very judgmental.I like that, the only question is. Is it true?

Where in scripture does it say to labor for the Lord in writing songs? Of course it's really awesome to write songs for God !!
but I don't know any "Christian musician" that takes doctrine seriously moreover I see "Christian musicians" that couldn't care less about doctrine.

Perhaps I have spoken too quickly. I do that way too often I will listen to this whole thing eventually and I'm intrigued what brought about asking this Christian musician about being a pastor.

    • @eric_sandstrom

When he says I heard the Lord say "and he went on to say quite a few specific words" that's foreign to me.
Meaning I don't hear Christians say stuff like that. You're implying quite a bit there most importantly how is it that you hear this economy of words?

@@eric_sandstromit comes out of relationship. Hours spent reading the Bible, praying, being still before God and listening. It’s supposed to be two way communication. Sadly most churches today do not disciple new believers and teach these foundational disciplines anymore.
