- Leg 3 was a difficult but incredible race that took our crews from Cape Town to Itajaí, across the perilous Southern Ocean which tested the sailors in every way. Filled with drama, the race concluded with Team Malizia grabbing their first Leg victory!

For the first time in my life, I find myself watching a sporting event , but wanting everybody to win. Superb skills, determination, leadership and teamwork from every competitor. Absolutely brilliant.
One thing has really struck me watching this leg is what an immense difference the enclosed cockpits have made to crew safety, efficiency and performance. Purists may object to the loss of connection to the wind and sea, but what virtue is there in being colder, more scared, and less able to focus than you have to be?
Man I just love everything about this race and the video production - thanks to all for this amazing journey!

We’ll done. The race has been so much more exciting than I anticipated and the connections to all the boats a pleasure. I’m in my late sixties and I’ve been sailing and watching sailing events since my childhood but your ability to bring your fan base into the boats and on the ocean is remarkable. Thank you.

I am wondering if these boats, given their design, can be safely hove to if conditions require it. Clearly it would be an extreme situation however.
