wow great technique, definitely produces cleaner results with none of the cleanup work with a mask extraction! Is group masked the same thing as just hitting ctrl+w?
Hey! Great question. It all depends on what your needs are for the project. If you need things to be super low-poly then yes, you can delete the inside/back faces. Lots of game companies do this to reduce poly count. Clothing in particular can give you lots of issues if it has interior geometry, so deleting the inside is usually best, especially if you want realistic physics with something like Marvelous Designer. Hope this helps!
Hey! It all depends on what kind of project you are making. If you want to make a character for games, most artists sculpt the high poly character in a neutral pose, then do retopo and worry about posing when it’s time for animating. If you want to make an art piece to show off your sculpting/texturing, I’d say go for posing first, then worry about cleanup/retopo and go on to textures last. Some artists like to do retopo early on regardless because it makes posing easier, but it all depends! Hope this helps!
Hey Gatz , I’m trying this but having a real hard time getting smooth edges ? I’m trying to make a night wing mask and the edges just keep being rough even after polish ,smooth etc etc , any help would be so awesome please bro!!
Hey man! I hope I can help. It could be that your polycount is not high enough, perhaps? Have you tried subdividing your mesh first? If it gives you the error “Does not work with Subdivision levels” try duplicating your subtool, subdividing, and deleting your lower subdivision level under Geometry, Delete Lower. Wish I could just see your project to help assess. Let me know if this helped. :)
Thanks for the video. Short and hit the point as always, but music... The sound is too loud, and listening to many fast sounds is really confusing while trying to follow and remember dozens of informations you are showing.
No extraction technique like this works with subdivision, but you can easily reproject your details back on to the newly produced subtool after it has been subdivided back up

Question: So therefore I need to delete the inner faces of the cloth to save space for rigging (and set it to 2 sides plane)? Thanks!

Music is way too loud in relation to speech.
S S Thank you for letting me know. I will dial that back. 👍👍
Sir want to ask posing first or retopo first..to the model sculpt..?

Thank you! And thanks for that feedback. It is good to know for future videos! More soon!
It does not work with multiple subdivision levels
No extraction technique like this works with subdivision, but you can easily reproject your details back on to the newly produced subtool after it has been subdivided back up
thanks so much
