This movies US film release was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID. It’s a tragedy because I rate this film a 10 out of 10. I had never heard of it, someone randomly told me about it. I couldn’t find it on any streaming service so I rented it on UA-cam. Great actors, great story, beautifully filmed. It’s an American masterpiece, a dark violent crime thriller with some humor. Worth renting. Great script, great cast, great cinematography.
I've just watched this movie on Film4. I can't believe I never got to see this in the cinema. What a superb movie! This is what is missing from the cinema in the 2020s, a movie with great acting, brilliant and unusual storyline and wonderful scenery. 10 out of 10 for the director and actors/actresses. Clark Duke, I didn't know it was him in this movie until the end credits, and he's the director/screenplay. Just, WOW! And to finish, if you haven't seen this movie yet, the reviews are middle of the road. I think critics nowadays expect shoot 'em up, car case, alternative universe type movies nowadays. Any one seen 'Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead'? Arkansas is a return to these types of films. I look forward to more from Duke.
I'm from Pine Bluff and people refer to it as both crime bluff and stank city (it smells because of the paper mill). We don't really like the stank city name that much tho.
Never even heard of this movie. Just stumbled across it on Prime. Really good. Strange slow ambience about it. Awesome to see Vince Vaughan playing a different character
I know what you mean back when I was in 7th grade I moved to the border of Mexico in Texas and this girl asked where I was from and I said Arkansas and they were like what’s that?? Is that in another country??..😐
What's funny is you're the 3rd comment here I've read that mentions "we've got cool parks". You know you're a fucking boring state when you're all mentioning the parks and it's not yellowstone.
As an person whose lived int Arkansas there whole life I can tell you without a doubt that this is completely inappropriate because we are the most boring state Nothing happens in Arkansas We have nice parks but that's about it For God sake we are the leaders in the world most boring food Rice We are known for RICE for God sake That's how boring we are
Just seen this on Prime.. 10 / 10 hidden gem banger... Like where was this movie.. it's so good. Liam Hemsworth owned it and obviously the man the legend Vince Vaughn.. just wow...
Could be a play on words.. The Frog Pawn instead of the Frog Pond. Seems as though a lot of pawn shops have cleaver names. Like the tow tv's series "Pawn Stars" and "Hardcore Pawn"
some of this was filmed right next to my house, like i could walk there in 5 minutes. i never knew. i just saw the roller rink and Walgreens next to my house and was shocked lmao
If you haven't seen this movie...you should. I found it on a fluke. The story is really good and the director/producer really did a nice job putting everything together. Rumor is this release got cancelled due to Covid, which makes sense. Some of the actors are big names, Hemsworth, Malcovich, Vince Vaughn, Vivica, etc... feels like this one will slowly get discovered and will get it's just due
Anyone saying "this is not Arkansas"....You do realize it's a movie right? Do you watch Spiderman and think there's no spiderman in NYC? Honestly, so dumb...
saw the title, the only thing going through my mind is, 'AMERICA EXPLAIN!!' but on a serious note, i liked the way the trailer started as a comedy about goofy criminals (strange concept, i know) and shifted into being something much more dark.
Never heard of this movie; but it definitely looks amazing. Too bad it came out when the world was quarantined, it looks like it would have made a killing otherwise
Can someone help me? Right after the guy says "we're going to go trafficking drugs across state lines, sir," a guitar sequence starts. It's not on the soundtrack and I'm trying find it.
Nah bru this can’t take place in Arkansas we don’t have anything cool like this goin on here. We do got nice mountains tho. (Also pretty good movie btw)
nothing really happens here but we have pretty long parks and other stuff and a blue ribbon school that i did go to btw this is my grandmas account on google
I cant imagine anyone sayin nothing happens in Arkansas from Arkansas live in central Arkansas. Especially Little Rock. Shit is always happening. Y'all just not in the circles to be hearing about it.
I think the only reason Liam Hemsworth's character has a limp, is so that years into the future, forums are asking... Why does Liam Hemsworth's character have a limp?
Yo, do they sell meth? Or cocaine? Because cocaine is unrealistic for Arkansas, and there was barely any fat people in this trailer, this is so dumb lmao. - An Arkansan
Probably not as good as the book (John Herndon, author....which was really good), but looks interesting. Kinda Coen Bros.-like. Citrus County would make a good movie too...
Arkansas is boring if you really don’t have friends or go out we do have comedy shows, concerts & annual events sometimes I go downtown just to visit & they’ll be an event there I never knew was coming, we’ve had fashion shows & all you just have to be in the loop but I mean it has its moments but the crime over the years has hurt a lot of festivity’s as well as the rona ughh 😒

This movie is really really good. Clark Duke, man. Can't believe I found this at the Family Dollar
This deserves more likes just for the Family Dollar bit. Im a huge fan of Dukes as well, ever since Hot Tub Time Machine.

I'm here because it's on film 4 tonight. I saw a half hour of it the last night and had to do stuff. Looking forward to seeing it
If you love Cohen Brothers movies, you will like/love "Arkansas", but it has its own soul.
Garbage
No
are you a paid actor?
Everyone here from Arkansas refers to pine bluff as crime bluff so that nice lol
just dumb nigga shit.
Actually no pine bluff is Stank City
@reverse thrust stink
so true lol.
I'm from Pine Bluff and people refer to it as both crime bluff and stank city (it smells because of the paper mill). We don't really like the stank city name that much tho.
I'm from Arkansas and I approve this Vince Vaughn.
This is a true story like American made. I think must a story about what happened in the 80’s or somewhere in the 90’s in Arkansas.
People just happy about Arkansas being recognized lol
@@GAURAV25855ify Yeah... no.
I don’t live there, but my grandparents do. When we visit them, all we do is just sleep, eat, go to church, and repeat. 😂
And that my friend is Arkansas for ya that’s all I did coming up till I moved to Kentucky!
@Detrimentel If I never had to worry about money and never had to work for a living ever again, that sounds like heaven.
Tell that to “ the boys on the tracks”
I live in Arkansas and that's about all we do... eat, sleep, work and go to church... I've not seen the organized crime...

mmm, nope this couldn't have taken place in Arkansas, nothing this interesting happens here. We've got cool parks though
Sometimes I think "do people even know Arkansas exist"

Fantastic film. Loved it. Please world more movies like this and not rehashed sequels.

I would have preferred THE LILLY PAD Pawn
I'm from Arkansas now I want to watch this movie.

Oi bhai, yaha to likes ke bheekh mat maang.... Desh ki izzat ki soch
nothing in Arkansas is interesting really we dont have any thing but hobos and jobs in the metro
This Hemsworth is the true actor of the bunch. Real talent despite the Marvel Universe
some of this was filmed right next to my house, like i could walk there in 5 minutes. i never knew. i just saw the roller rink and Walgreens next to my house and was shocked lmao
It's funny to be sitting in Gray KY watching this and to hear it. Lol.

I just came here to see how many Arkansans were in the comment section....quite a few.

This reminds me of the ole book called, Money Grows On Trees which happened in ARKANSAS
Set up an auditions in Little Rock n see wat we got‼️😂lol but I’m serious
I enjoyed this movie, it was funny and corny but kept me entertained the entire time
This is it,,,, i will never quit
I enjoyed this one. It reminded me a lot Resevoir Dogs thats one of my favorite robbery movies even though plots of both movies are vastly different.
