Aberfeldy's 21 year old single malt is part of the core range of their bottling's, which include the 12, 16, & 18 year old single malts. It was re-launched with a new design in 2015 and has the traditional maturing and finishing in ex-bourbon and sherry casks. The 21 year old has won several gold medals and awards at international shows recently. It's a whisky that I am not as familiar with though I did tour the distillery last year. Aberfeldy is a key part of the Dewar's blends, and I have had Dewar's many times through the years and reviewed the Dewar's Double Double 21, 27 and 32 year old's. This is an incredibly easy sipper and "a go to" for anyone new at Scotch single malts. For the new-bee it might leave a better impression than some of the other peated or stronger flavored and higher ABV single malts out there. I did enjoy the more woody flavours with the 21 year old even though they were not over powering. This is a well layered and balanced whisky allowing the honey, fruity and floral notes to shine with the wood in the background. Sláinte
