Thanks to @Driver61 for making this banger!
EDIT: For some of you who just clearly don't understand, I'm NOT saying Camero are better than Ferrari, and yes Ferrari battered them all over the course. but it did be A Ferrari, so get of my back and take it up with the creator of the original video 😂😂

A lot of fans want Nascar to remain old school. I for one loved the sound of five lug nuts off five on.
Scrambler! Thank you for the comment! I will admit the 5 lug nut sound is truly iconic, I am excited to see how much faster pit teams can work on cars now, glad you enjoyed
@@Bastard. 😂😂This is true
@@ExploringTheSmoke pit stops on any faster because the catch can that drops the fuel is gravity-fed and it still takes the same amount of time the reason NASCAR said they were going to implement it is because wheels are falling off well if you watched wheels are still falling off. A NASCAR car did not outrun Ferrari because that's not NASCAR NASCAR hasn't been NASCAR in 20 years.🙄
@@joshsmith4512 yeah I get what you mean, it's good to at least see how they're trying to make it a known sport globally on a larger scale I guess
@@ExploringTheSmoke they made a fatal mistake they forgot where they came from. I think they are now trying to rectify that mistake we will see
NASCAR pit crews are insanely fast because quite a few pit stops in NASCAR races happen while under green, so they have to get that car done as soon as possible to try and retain position.
Thank you Mildcat, I appreciate the information, I'm glad you enjoyed
new cars a good stop is 8-9 seconds (some sub 7s)down from 12-13 last car
got to make sure your sub 10secdons always if you take any longer than that and you might aswell pack up and go home as if its green you need to be in and out nice and smooth sub 9 seconds is the aim, how mad must a driver be as im sure some must count so if they go to long he is not going to be happy wouldnt want to be the crew chief in that moment listing to the driver going mad 🤣
with the amount of limitations they have in terms of tech and man power allowed per stop compared to other motorsports like f1 its actually insane how quick they are. alot of them are ex college atheltes
As a big nascar fan this was so cool to see apparently the viewership for Le Mans this year was up by like 60 thousand or something and the garage 56 entry has created a lot of buzz hopefully all 3 nascar manufacturers can enter the race next year also nascar is also apparently in advanced talks about having a race in Montreal next year, nascar in general is working hard to increase its international presence
And you gotta admit if this is the first attempt, they're making their presence known! Glad you enjoyed Jay
It's difficult to tell if that was even entirely or even partially due to NASCAR this year, as we had a really good grid with huge names like Ferrari returning to the top class, which was something that was even talked about a lot last year and generated massive hype.
@@Thedutchman12 hopefully both sports can only grow from new audience members seen through these races
@@ExploringTheSmoke hopefully 🤞
unfortunatly, the Garage 56 was only given out to special "innovative" cars, and need to be invited to run, so we'll most likely never see it again
The sound that car made was glorious. Gave you goosebumps? It gave me chills (the low end stuff coming through my subwoofer went straight up my spine). Yeah, it has to be one of the best sounding cars of all time.
Ooooh I didn't even think to play it through my speakers and Sub! Great idea thank you!! And glad you enjoyed the reaction
Yeah the NASCAR pit crew finishes 1st in GTE Class, and 5th overall in the pit competition. Although the car itself was in a class of its own, they allowed the pit crew into the GTE class for the pit competition.

I work at the Goodyear Test Center in Akron Ohio and we have been testing the tires for this race for the past year to year an a half. The Cup tires for Nascar are on 12x18 wheels on all four corners and tire size is 365/35R18 and for the Garage 56 build the wheels were 12.5x18 on the front and 13.5x18 on the rear with front tire size of 365/35R18 and rear tires of 385/35R18
Wow thank you for the knowledge Link, pretty sweet knowing you've worked on parts for this beast of a machine
Wow 385 is huge Chunk of rubber!!
NASCAR engines are nearly bulletproof now. Valvesprings are what gets them, and the modern NASCAR engine is actually detuned from what its peak power could be. It's like an offshore powerboat, wide open for extended periods.
Thank you Viking! Welcome back, thank you for the information and I'm glad you enjoyed
The fact this showed American drivers are world class is what I think is most important before this a lot of Europeans and a lot of Americans saw nascar as some rednecks going in circles constantly wrecking each other. After this that stereotype has been reduced a decent amount where we actually know what we’re doing, and the fact Jimmie Johnson arguably the best nascar driver ever was one of the men to do it is insane
Joseph! Thank you for your comment, I gotta admit, it shows that people truly have been in the dark with just HOW good NASCAR drivers are outside of America! Glad you enjoyed
2 of the 3 Driver where european.
@@Kullioking also true, had the pleasure of meeting Mr Button before, nice bloke, you make the point of the drivers being European, but if this is the first outing you can imagine how many full American teams will be bred to compete

Love to see nascar get some recognition in europe. Race cars are race cars and physics are physics, and gear heads and engineers will always find a way to maks a car perform better. One thinf for certain is nothing beats rhe sound of an american v8. Hope to see more people world wide embrace stock cars!
That V8....... LORD what a machine! Thanks for watching Andy, glad you enjoyed
Gotta understand something about the company that built this garage 56 race car. It is built by Nascar Cup team Hendrick motorsports. If you look at their win records at road courses, they have the most, with Jeff Gordon being the winningest on road courses in Nascar history, Chase Elliott actually being second, and Jimmie Johnson getting a few. Of course other drivers as well that have raced for Hendrick have been able to sneak a road course race or 2, Ray Evernham, Chad Knaus, all the guys that were on this project, have been a part of all the success since Hendrick motorsports came into nascar. So, these people are master mechanics and engineers, and understand how to build a car not just for ovals, but for road courses as well. I knew the car would have speed, but, was sceptical about it going the distance, they only had to change gear boxes because one of the drivers downshifted instead of upshifted. I was blown away at how fast they really were. And, a lot of these parts here, aren't allowed in Nascar because of rules.
Thank you Jonathan! I appreciate the knowledge and the excitement for the car! Glad you enjoyed the reaction too
Thank you for the comment as well. I'm a gear head, and love all kinds of motorsports. It's amazing what weight manipulation can do to the handling of a racecar. Look up wedge adjustments. They're like blocks, one goes left to right, the other goes front to back, that's one of many ways Nascar teams can manipulate a 3500 pound vehicle to turn like a light race car without having to drop weight, now, those adjustments are pretty much Nascar rules exclusively. There's all sorts of adjustments they can make to get the handling of the correct, more so to fit what the driver likes.

Nice to see appreciation for what they did from you guys outside of the U.S. One of the biggest digs that some people made was "It was in a class by itself!" which seems to miss the point completely of why people were drawn to the car. The fact that it was in its own class and the reigns were let go is precisely why people were applauding the car. I suspect some people just didn't like the car for their own biases, but I say it really did win some people over, and I'm fine with that.
Welcome Rob! Thank you for the comment and I do indeed appreciate it trying to push boundaries, and man, have I had some split decisions on here and some seriously butthurt people that clearly can't stand that a "muscle" car is in the "purist" Le Mans. I think a very exciting series is the 'British Touring Car Championships', I don't understand why this isn't more popular, or followed more closely. It's super competitive (never, ever a dull moment).
Because weirdly in England, it's looked at like the red headed step child to Formula 1, which has always been crazy to me, especially with how repetitive and monotonous F1 has been the last few years, I'd have thought people would watch BTCC races more regularly

So this car was basically a nascar stock car. Yes it has some changes, but the chassis, motor, wheels, and brakes were basically the same as the normal car on Sunday. Minus having carbon brakes instead of steel, and a few other changes.

You are truly one of the Lucky one's Myers!!
This is Nicholas aka Big Hoss, im a heavy hauler, but to the point. Grew up in Tennessee and north carolina and had dale earnhardt sr and famimy as neighbors, seen jimie johnson blow up his boat engines on lake norman and went to church with another nascar driver. Been to a bunch of races and did a project for school years ago called technology used in nascar and went to the dodge nascar garage si ce we had friends ehim built the cars and was asstounded by what all i learned. Something else these euopean drivers dont do that we do here in the states is dirt track racing which a bunch of the bascar drivers grew up doing and is a whole other set of driving skills. NASCAR in the next couple years will be absolutely ruling over the european cars. And i cant wait to see the teams that will be set up when their is multiple nascars on the lemans course. European teams will be taken into consideration with what they do for their cars but nascar has alot more to bring to the game since lemans cars have been doing the same things for years and have gotten lets say stuck in their ways since they don't change much. Nascar has the privalge to try out all sorts of new things and upgraded technology and not be held back by regulationsile the others have. Next 10 to 15 years will be absolutely amazing .
Welcome Nicholas! What an absolutely incredible comment and I'll be honest you're very on the money with what you like and know, and I'll be honest I am one of the few (maybe because I'm new to it haha) but I'm SO excited to see how NASCAR starts to implement into Europe, especially with how much the NFL is being taken on now
ETS You need to check out "Bill Elliott Makes History at the 1987 Winston 500." He turned one lap at 212.8 MPH (342.4 KM) in a 3,700 lb. (1,678 kg) car powered by a ford 351 cubic-inch (5.75 liter) in 1987. The car produced 625 HP (466 KW). In 1988 NASCAR required restrictor plates designed to slow air/fuel mixture in an attempt to back the cars down for safety reasons. However, in 2007 the Chevrolet R07 Nascar engine made 955 HP (712 KW) on the dyno, and they were no going to let them run that monster on the track. I guess we really like HP, and the thrill of a 11,000 HP (8,202 KW) burning nitromethane leaving the line is something you can not describe! When each cylinder fires it's like getting punched in the chest. They can cover the quarter mile in 3.58 seconds at a speed of 386 MPH (621 KM) under perfect conditions.

@@rdramos13 I gathered, but having an super fit and healthy pit real helps
@@rdramos13 in the cup series the pit crew guys are a separate group that only go over the wall/pit the car. The mechanics that work on the car in the garage do not change tires and fuel the race car during the race.
Most of the over the wall guys are ex athletes now. Hockey players, football (American), wrestlers....and they learn the specific job. If there is any complex work there are three to six garage guys who would come over the wall to do repairs or swap batteries or fix crash damage

Nascar always builds from the ground up. The late 70's was the last time they used any stock parts.
Thank you Karl, appreciate the knowledge, glad you enjoyed
Last time they used any stock parts was the late 70's?They were using factory hoods and rear trunks
And roofs in the 1980's.
@@coletrickle-km7cl Gen 3 still used some stock bodyparts (like you say).
I will say this. If Hendrick Motor Sports would continue this program and race at LeMans, in five years or less they will be in the GTE class and winning races. HMS has the people and the ability to make that a reality. I have a feeling that when they build a Camaro to GTE spec it will probably dominate the class. Mind you this car was normally aspirated now if they have a turbo it will be insanely fast.
I'm glad you're one of the people excited for the future of this class/car, so many hate it/hate on it, for being a "muscle" car unfit for the likes of something as "prestigious" as Le Mans 😂
@@ExploringTheSmoke Thank you very much. There was a time when American cars did compete at LeMans. With the technology available to make the cars lighter and stronger at the same time I feel it could be done. Given some time I think it could become a reality, I would love to see the Camaro, and/or the Mustang race at LeMans in the GTE class.
@@yankee_tango anytime! And honestly me too, the arguments I've had in the comments alone, people genuinely angry at me like I built the fucking car 😂😂 it's funny seeing all the "purists" getting their panties in a twist at the idea of the beloved Italian supercars being beaten by the American cousin
@@ExploringTheSmoke They fail to realize that the Ford GT40 killed Ferrari in the 60's I believe then again in the 2010's so. I would love to see Camaro's, Mustangs, and maybe even Chargers or Challengers running at LeMans in the future. The series needs some new blood I think.
GT3. GTE is no more after this year.
We should get a reasonable idea what a muscle car derived GT3 can do next year with Ford throwing a few Mustangs into the mix. I wouldn't be so quick to assume the Chevy's performance at Le Mans is a sign of future dominance if they did decide to have a crack at a GT3 entry though.
That Chevy 'NASCAR' was about as far removed from an actual NASCAR spec car as it is from a GT3 spec car. If Hendricks or anyone else did rock up with a GT3 Chevy, it'd be a very different animal to the one we saw at Le Mans. When you're allowed to throw the rule book away, it's easy to make the competition look slow, but it's a very different game when you're racing to class spec, especially in a BoP happy series, like GT3. Any advantage anyone gets is quickly snuffed out with all manner of BoP tweeking and fettling shenanigans by the powers that be.
A thing to note about the pit crew are the jackman and the Jacks. The Jacks are aluminium to cut down the weight so that the Jackman can run and lift the jacks quickly but there also a One Pump Jack which means you only need to push the handle down once for the jack to lift the car. Ofcourse that takes alot of strength to do and while the Weight is cutdown they are still heavy. So jackmen have to be increadbly strong to get the Jack to lift the car with it's driver in one go and lift and run with them. There are videos of Jackmen passing their jacks to another Jackman by tossing the jacks over a car and the jacks are caught with ease.
One pump Jack's may make it "easier" but that one lift you have to have incredible power to be consistent with it! Thank you Coyote, glad you enjoyed
@@ExploringTheSmoke they tend to use their whole body weight and you will see their feet are off the ground. So not much much about strength as using the entire body weight to to do it.

Leman is the ultimate test track long straights for power. And tight twisty sections like in a F1 track. The problem is public roads are part of the track so you cant run a private test. I want to see a F1 modern or older by a few years run there.

The weight of the car would be 1280kg. The stock car weighs 1500kg. The team was able to shave 220kg off the weight. Hence, 1500-220=1280kg.
Thank you for the knowledge Dom, glad you enjoyed
This is basically what teams have done when they build no-rules cars to attack the Nurburgring record. That being, the current generation of NASCAR is very much closer to what the world considers 'saloon' cars than in the past.
Thank you for the knowledge Jerry, I appreciate it
They are very close to Australia v8 super cars right now. Hence how a NZ driver that won 3 v8 super car championships came to and 1st race ever in nascar won the chicago road coarse.

In the 50s, 60s and early 70s, the cars were in fact stock cars. They stripped them down removing all unwanted parts, added roll cages, hi performance brakes and massive horsepower engines. Slap on a set of racing slicks and off to the races you go. Since then the entire car is hand built just like any other hi performance race car. Oval track cars are slightly different from course cars in the way things are built on them.
Thank you Bill for the knowledge!! I appreciate you my friend, they certainly have come a long way that's for sure
@@ExploringTheSmoke Bill is a bit mistaken. NASCAR has been a silhouette series since 1966. They ceased to be stock and started to be built on custom tubeframe chassis.

all nascar race cars are built from the ground up and yeah you should check out a nascar pit crew if you think that using a manual jack is bonkers. Most good gun men can remove 5 lug nuts faster than you could get one lug off your car lol. The jacks are designed to lift the car 11 inches (i think) in one pump.

It's been tried before, but it just doesn't build a big enough of a following here to attract big name sponsors and money printing TV rights on major channels though.
We even built a dedicated high speed stadium oval here in the U.K in the early 2000s at Rockingham. It was an impressive commitment to oval racing, a full on dedicated stadium complex that hadn't been shy of cash in its development, was only outmatched by Silverstone and Brands in terms of modern facilities available for teams and spectators and got a bit of attention in its first few years with the CART series visiting for the first year or two and the unfortunately named NASCAR ripoff ASCAR series had a crack (pun absolutely intended) at it for a few years as well. But it never attracted NASCAR itself and within half a dozen years or so, there were no notable oval races being held there at all and the racing that did take place there was confined to BTCC and support series races on the mostly infield section... the style of circuit that we have plenty of already in Britain and in most cases too, already offered a much a better quality of racing than Rockingham's cramped, fairly short, slow and uninspiring infield ever could hope to match. 17 years after opening, Rockingham was closed as a live circuit for good. It just cost too much money to operate a stadium, the oval was seldom used and the BTCC aside, most series that it hosted were low key support series affairs. Even then, the BTCC is hardly an international draw. Rockingham did well if it got one live TV broadcast per year, I don't think it ever saw a capacity crowd in its entire operational existence, it couldn't attract spectators, it didn't offer much for TV viewers, big name sponsorship was mostly absent with its lack of interest or exposure and it sat there empty as a very expensive, rarely used money pit for most of its life.
We have the same problem with drag racing here too. Despite having the very well facilitated Santa Pod drag strip, we're a long way out of the NHRA's catchment area over here and very rarely get the big name American teams and drivers. There is still a small but dedicated following for the FIA sanctioned racing here though and the gate for the big races always does well, but it's still very much on the fringes of motorsport in the U.K. Unlike Rockingham though, the maintenance overheads for a drag strip are considerably lower than a full stadium circuit and Santa Pod is able to thrive just from its gate and without much in the way of TV rights megabucks and massive NHRA connected sponsorship deals bankrolling it. Rockingham on the other hand, was dead in the water almost from day one. There just isn't the level of interest for oval racing here that the sort venues you need to host it rely on to survive.
@@bigal3055 Al, I feel like I need a pint with you, your knowledge is astounding, thank you for taking the time to write to me
